I booked a spa break for me and my partner to celebrate her 50th birthday. She loved everything about it and it was exactly what I was looking for to mark the special occasion. The building is elegant, the room was very comfortable, the food was delicious and my partner enjoyed her spa treatments. We especially loved the pre-dinner cocktails but couldn't afford to have too many!! The staff made the stay really special for us, they all work so hard and provide exceptional service.

My partner has wanted to stay in The Debussy Suite at The Grand Hotel for years. I decided to book 2 nights to celebrate my birthday and our 10 year anniversary recently. The whole experience exceeded all my expectations, making it a most memorable stay. We were welcomed so warmly by every member of staff we encountered throughout the visit. We were shown to a parking space as soon as we drove in, bags taken to our suite as we had arrived before check in time and we found that staff in the restaurant, bar and health suite made us feel valued and special.
The Suite itself was fantastic! Fruit bowl, decanter of sherry and delicious biscuits etc were provided. Towels were gorgeously fluffy and replaced almost as soon as we used them! The shower was lovely and the whirlpool bath a real treat. The view of the sunrise and sunset through the French windows was quite special and the armchairs so comfortable. The bed deserves a mention! Apart from being huge, it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!
The food and service in the Garden Restaurant was first class, and actually very good value. The atmosphere was so comfortable and relaxed, enhanced by a pianist playing in the background. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was an equally delicious experience.
Whilst we know that it was an extravagance to stay in The Debussy Suite, we did not regret the choice at all. It was worth every penny! We are already planning our next visit later in the year and feel confident that any room that we choose will be good and the receptionist was very helpful in describing the views from each room choice and suggesting choices.
All in all, our stay was all we hoped it would be and made our weekend quite special.

Stayed 2 nights on a Secret Escapes deal. This venue is a traditional, old fashioned seaside hotel.......but with many superb features. Our room was very spacious and quiet but slightly the worse for wear. Frayed bedding, old fashioned bathroom fittings (particularly the clingy shower curtain) are the reason for this not being a 5* review. A bonus was the Nespresso machine in the bedroom. Everything else is excellent. Superb breakfasts and dinners, spacious elegant lounges and wonderful staff make this hotel exceptional. We saw some decorators around the hotel, so improvements seem to be happening. Whilst appreciating that the upkeep of such a large, old building must be expensive, the prices charged reflect that cost, so anything less than superb needs some (albeit minor) criticism.

The entrance and communal spaces are exceptional. Beautifully decorated with furnishings of a very high standard and appropriate for the age and era of the building. The Garden Room restaurant is beautifully decorated, retaining and old-fashioned splendour.
Staff were attentive but not over bearing; exhibiting a very high level of appropriate service at all times.
Our room was large and light with 'real windows that opened'. The decor and furnishings were somewhat dated. The bathroom was well equipped with lovely Molton Brown toiletries (and a heated towel rail that was far too hot!).
We ate dinner in the Garden Room restaurant on one night (Mirabelle restaurant was closed) and the food was delicious and plentiful. Breakfast offered a good choice too.
We are always interested in the Spa facilities at a hotel and The Grand facilities fall short of what many hotels offer nowadays. However we enjoyed the (small) swimming pool, saunas and steam room. The jacuzzi was pleasant enough although there were very little bubbles (some maintenance issues I think). The changing rooms were cramped at peak times and were poor compared to other hotels we have stayed in.
Overall we had a great weekend at The Grand and will return.

Another great stay at the Grand. It has been over a year since we last stayed but it is every bit as good if not better than we remembered. The furniture in the main lounge has been updated and is very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and efficient in all areas, they are one of the main reasons we like to stay at this hotel. We look forward to staying again.

A perfect birthday celebration for my mother in law's 92nd birthday on the 15 December 2016. Wonderful sandwiches, scones and cakes and plenty of teas to choose from. Very attentive staff without being overbearing. Also being close to Christmas, the wonderful decorations in the Great Hall added to the atmosphere. Piped piano music was at a pleasant volume.

Needed alternate accommodation following a terrible experience at Lansdowne Hotel. Called at midnight and a helpful receptionist asked us to come in the morning and view the available rooms. On arrival we were shown six rooms and given costs for each. The doorman reserved a parking place so we could transfer with minimum of difficulty and was most helpful. The suite was spacious with dining space overlooking a brilliant sea view and the room service was excellent.

We came to The Grand a couple of months ago. Absolutely top class from when you park your car to when you leave. Service from staff is excellent, as is the food in the Garden Restaurant, and the Mirabelle. Would definitely recommend if you want to relax in luxurious surroundings.

The hotel is wonderful for celebrations, we went for Afternoon Tea and a couple of days later had a private event celebrating a milestone birthday. The service was exceptional, the food is great and overall is a luxury experience. The hotel itself is a traditional "grand' so if modern boutique is your preference, this is not for you. Think Downton Abbey instead!

I was excited to return to this hotel for the first time in over 20 years and I was not disappointed. Yes, other reviewers may be correct in stating that the decor could be considered dated but in my view the decor goes with the imposing stature of this glorious Victorian hotel building. The food was of a good standard, and we enjoyed the Christmas decorations, especially the magnificent trees in the main hall. But the stand out feature of this trip was the service from the staff, from the moment we pulled into the driveway on arrival to on the point of leaving having forgotten an item we left in the room we were impressed by the exceptionally attentive staff whom made this a very enjoyable stay.

For the past 15 years or so we have had a 4 day 3 night mini break called Twixmas as the dates are from the 27 December to the 30th.
Over the years we have used many different companies coaches to travel and arrive at our destination. We have for the past 4 or 5 years used Alpha Travel as they own most of the hotels used and they are all of a good standard.
This year the Grand at Eastbourne, where we have been before about 6 years ago. This is a very imposing sea front Victorian Hotel which Alpha must have spent a fortune bringing it up to modern expectations and adding en suite to each room.
The inside is beautifully kept all walls, ceilings and carpets as new!
The mostly European staff work like mad to make sue all meals are served efficiently and fast.
We like the choice of food offered and the presentation. Most meals are served with a rigid time table of about 1 1/2 hours which means we all tend to eat together.
We traveled from Newcastle under Lyme by feeder to Tamworth and thence by very comfortable coach to hotel in Eastbourne. The down side, nothing to do with Alpha, is the amount of traffic on the roads the day after Boxing day meaning arrival at the hotel at 5-15. Accidents on motorways don't help either.
Our room, always pay a little extra for sea view, was on the 3rd floor with 3 windows in a bay which gave a marvelous view of Eastbourne's promenade and the pier.
There were optional free trips out on 2 days and we were blessed with really sunny warm weather, so much so our chamber maid partly opened our window as the room was so hot in the afternoon.
Cost of holiday for the 2 of us was around £350 for virtually full board. Wine at meal times was fairly priced for good wine around £16 a bottle. All drinks seemed fairly priced.
Next year we will go again with Alpha but perhaps to Tenby, their new hotel, or Scotland, just because of the travelling south, M25 23 etc.

We have just spent 2 nights at the Grand to celebrate New Year. This was our 2nd NY visit and once again all the arrangements were excellent. The staff are exceptionally helpful and charming and give the impression that they really enjoy working there. Yes, the decor is dated, but it is elegant and comfortable - so much better than more modern hotels which are not user friendly and seem designed just to look fashionable. Our NYE dinner in the MIrabelle was superb, brunch was just what was wanted and a long swim in the lukewarm water of the very pretty pool later in the day helped to work off all the calories ! Well done, the Grand. A brilliant start to 2017.

The grand still had the Christmas decorations up which made the surroundings perfect, the fire was lit and the carols in the background were prefect. The staff are amazing they could not do enough for you.... thank you. The savoury sandwiches and quiche were absolutely delicious, the scones with butter, jam and clotted cream were amazing, the pasties looked a master piece but couldn't eat them all, so they were put in a box to bring home x perfect afternoon x thank you x

We booked to attend as non residents at the Mirabelle Restaurant for New Years Eve.
We were concerned that our expectations would not be met and that a faded glory would prevail. Im delighted to say, that we were wrong.

The Grand Hall was highly attractive with its festive decorations. Staff were highly attentive and genuinely appeared to like their jobs and the Hotel that they work for. Service was excellent.

The wine list was sublime and so we indulged with some Krug to start. Menu requests were met promptly and with efficiency.

The meal was very good and 10/10 to the pianist.

Mayfair is our normal hunting ground and what I enjoyed was the classic, old fashioned service.

Amazingly, I asked for a Breakfast Martini (normally exclusive to the Polo Bar at the Westbury) and the Hotel did a very good effort to produce this cocktail for me.

Very good and will definitely visit again.

Great experience. Very much gave the feel of being in a movie (as the Grand is by far the fanciest hotel I have stayed in). Many little extra touches that made the stay feel special. The room was huge and included a large comfortable bed. Service was impeccable. And the selection of tea in the room included peppermint, which as someone who cannot drink caffeine was a wonderful change from my usual hotel experiences.

Just had a wonderful few days at The Grand Hotel Eastbourne. We were very well looked after, the staff were so helpful and pleasant.
I was horrified when my husband was sick on arrival but the porters quickly came to our aid with no fuss.
When we found the wheelchair was too wide to go through the bathroom door the manager immediately upgraded our room. We had a beautiful sea view.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make us feel pampered and cared for.

This is a fantastic well run hotel. From the view as you are driving into it then onto having your car parked and attended to from minute one. The rooms are well sized and well equipped. The food from breakfast to evening meals are always to the highest quality. You must have afternoon tea in the lounge area. All in all a well deserved 5 star hotel.

Went to the grand for afternoon cream tea as part of a family group for a 50th anniversary celebrations.
Staff were very attentive offering the tea menus. To us sat around coffee tables in arm chairs in a large lounge with perhaps a few to many chairs crammed in not crowded but not able to be intimate or private . Sandwiches scones and cakes served on cake tiers . Very pleasant . Plenty of tea and coffee . Not rushed . Very nice

It is grand. Excellent quality and service as you would expect. Parking is tricky in car park and paid parking until 6pm on the road. Excellent afternoon tea. Prices are at a premium as you would expect at a grand hotel.
