A very relaxing 3 day stay in a junior suite, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for my wife and I plus our 15 year old son.
Lots to do in Eastbourne and also within the hotel with excellent gym, pool, sauna, steam room and snooker.
Food excellent, decor beautiful and. Very friendly staff.
What was nice was that the hotel was not trying to squeeze money out of you for everything, with free wifi and reception happy to print emails, scan, email and send documents for me without charging extra. Car parking included too. We shall return!

I just love this place, the moment you walk through the door you feel like you are stepping back in time to a world with first class service, amazing decor and a relaxing ambience. My husband & I recently visited for our anniversary and felt very spoilt throughout the whole of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and we received a very warm welcome, the hotel and it's staff just have this ability to make you feel very special. We were lucky enough to be given a suite on the first floor which was beautiful, tastefully done in keeping with the age of the hotel not all glass and modern fabrics but just subtly done with a huge amount of class. We had pre-dinner drinks in the bar which has a lovely traditional feel to it, I had an amazing Mojito mixed by Ollie the barman which I have to say was the best Mojito I have ever had, so good I had to have 2! We then ate in the Garden Restaurant where the food was delicious and the service attentive without being over bearing. Overall we had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

My partner and I decided to spend a weekend in Eastbourne. We needed a break from the Big Smoke and the smog. It was our first time in Eastbourne and it was simply lovely. The town has kept its traditional touches and has not become seedy which was refreshing.
We stayed at the Grand and it did not disappoint and truly deserve its name. The hotel oozes grandeur and whilst part of it could do with some refreshing, the facilities are second to none. You really feel like you are stepping into a 5 stars hotel.
Staff: The receptionists (especially Anton) as well as the rest of the staff were delightful and made us very welcome. Only improvements would be around restaurant reservation and late night order:
1. that we asked for reservation and they was a misunderstanding when we got to the restaurant which had not been communicated to us
2. we ordered some hot chocolates and we had to chased for the cream and marshmallow. However they recognized their mistakes and did not charge us for them.
Room:
Spacious and the bed (effectively two single beds put together) big and comfortable. The bathroom was modern.
Hotel Facilities:
We thoroughly enjoyed the spa and my partner also had an express massage and rated it as in his top 3 massages (he is an expert). The breakfast selection was superb and the food delicious (meaty sausages always get top mark from me). The only drawbacks I could see is that the grounds need a bit of looking after (but then again it is only April) as well as some areas of the hotel.
Overall if you want a romantic weekend away in a bit of luxury then the Grand really hits the right note.
I would definitely recommend it and go back for more Grand-eur fun in Eastbourne!

Stayed here again, in a second floor suite with sea view. From the moment I drove into the grounds and was met by the doorman trying to sort out a very busy car park I felt the genuine warmth of the welcome which extended to every single member of staff no matter whether they were dealing with me or not. The hotel, the quality of service, the food are simply perfect. I just love the atmosphere here, this is an old fashioned hotel with old fashioned values. I cannot praise it highly enough, one of my favourite places.

Our second stay at The Grand. As before, excellent friendly efficient staff from the time we arrived to the time we left. Breakfast the best we have enjoyed, certainly on par with Gleneagles and almost but not quite with the Ritz .Accommodation and public rooms are very elegant but cosy and comfortable at the same time. One small negative, the food at dinner doesn't quite match the elegant surroundings. My main courses (both meat) were excellent, my husbands choices (fish both nights) were a bit plain and basic, though the scallop starters were perfect. This is a minor point and didn't detract from our stay at all. Overall a fabulous weekend and we look forward to our next visit.

This hotel is geared towards the elderly visitor. Communal areas are furnished in the style of a high end old peoples home.

Staff look like they've walked off the set of Downton Abbey. Service is very good, the staff are nice.

Drinks in the bar are over priced. Cocktails are £15.50. Gin and tonic around £12. This is Ritz pricing and the place is not in that league.

The building is grand but hasnt had much money spent on it for 15 years. Some of the chairs in the bar collapsed a long time ago!

Average age of the guests was around 75. You need to wear a jacket or tie to get in the restaurant (say no more).

We wouldn't come back, but ok if youre looking for a quality old peoples home by the sea.

We stayed at the Grand for one weekend at the end of March 2014. It was a very good experience. Especially staying in a hotel with almost 140 years of history was amazing.

The staff were polite, welcoming very helpful. We stayed in a deluxe room, which was OK in size for two people but you may find it small if you are travelling with your baby and going to ask for a cotbed.

Everything, including SPA was good. However the only disappointing part was the breakfast. It is included in the room price - which is good but you would expect a better breakfast from a five star hotel.

We chose the Grand Hotel as the venue for our wedding day after having some lovely meals there already. We were so impressed by the friendliness of the staff and excellent service. We were kindly upgraded to a beautiful room, although all of the rooms look perfect. We had a wonderful day and we can't wait to go back!

I chose to stay at the grand for a one night break with my girlfriend and it's safe to say we were not disappointed. First of all I would like to comment on the service, which was first class. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, it was very good indeed. The room was very nice, especially the bathroom. Robes were included but you have to pay £5 for slippers as they are not included in the deluxe double room. The bed was extremely comfortable. We didn't eat in the evening but we did have breakfast on the Sunday morning, there was a good food selection and the restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere. The only thing I would say is the cooked breakfast was slightly on the cool side but that didn't really bother us. The spa was very relaxing, pool temperature was spot on. As we booked quite early the room price was pretty reasonable and I would say it was value for money. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back in the future!

We paid for the deluxe double with a sea view cost £239.
The room was clean, spacious, a beautiful view and a lovely toilet.
The staff were polite, welcoming, helpful & very quick to come up to the room for any issues had.
My only issues was with the TV which was a pretty small and the DVD collection not the best (the irriation was that the DVD controller had been lost so we kept watching the first 30mins of the matrix over and over pausing it caused it to turn off after 5mins).
We came for watching a play so were unable to try the restaurant food due to the clash of timing between restaurant first/last order times and the play starting, but the menu looked very delicious. We ordered our food in the room, and the menu is very impressive although maybe a bit costly (we had plaice and lots of vegatables costing £80)
For me the best thing about the hotel was the breakfast - an absolutely 5 star breakfast with plenty of choice and the best i have had in at least 10 years. I recommend the coffee. My stay here has completely altered my view of staying in a hotel and am much more open to the experience.
I never tried the spa as we didnt have time.

Once again we chose The Grand Hotel at Eastbourne for a weekend break. We knew the service would be good, the staff professional and the food wonderful. On the Friday night we ate in the Mirabelle Restaurant which you could not fault. Saturday was in the Garden Restaurant again everything was top class.
Our room was 233, overlooking the sea. It was very clean and had everything we wanted.
It was not a cheap weekend but then we would not have stayed there if we were looking for cheap.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for first class service.

How many times has a hotel named 'The Grand Hotel' failed to live up to expectations? If you want a truly grand experience then The Grand Hotel Eastbourne is the place to go. From the minute you step into the foyer, you know you are in for a treat. The entire staff are unfailingly courteous and competent. The rooms are so sumptuous you are reluctant to leave. The breakfast is perfection as is so much about this wonderful hotel. Whatever the occasion, whatever you age group, this would be the hotel to choose.

The Grand at Eastbourne is in my opinion, all that is best about a hotel. It is slightly old fashioned in that you have to wear a jacket or a tie in the restaurant. The staff are incredibly friendly and many of them have worked in the hotel for years. The service that they supply is first rate. To stay is not cheap but quality normally comes at a cost. The bedrooms are clean and well fitted. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The hotel has two restaurants but the smaller gets full so you need to book in advance, though the main hotel restaurant is excellent. If you are looking for a rave time then Eastbourne is not for you and especially the Grand. However if you want to experience real quality then the Grand is highly recommended.

We have stayed here before, this visit was as good as the past stays. Very attentive helpful staff. The Concierge crew are second to none. We have already booked our next stay for April. Food in the Garden restaurant is superb. Can't praise the place enough, lovely sea view executive room

This hotel fully lives up to its name, quite superb. The style and service are in the best tradition, of a sort rarely met today. From the moment of our arrival we were made to feel welcome, our room was spacious and the furnishings and decor exactly in keeping with a hotel of this opulent character. At the same time all modern needs (wifi, gym, pool etc) are well provided for.
In our 5 day stay we sampled the Mirabelle Restaurant once, and the main restaurant twice for dinner and found the food and service excellent. The breakfasts are outstanding, with a number of options but the best being freshly cooked food to order.
The hotel is in a stunning location and the architecture, outside and inside, is Victorian at its finest. Service is quiet, seemingly effortless and always efficient. A rare find and real value for what we paid.

Very friendly staff. We had the cheapest room but was very nice. Only draw back on room was shower not powerful, but used spa one which was ok. Bed slightly soft being I got a bad back. But bedding sheets lovely and crisp clean. Breakfast lovely in nice room. Spa nice not to busy. All in all nice stay.

We stayed in Eastbourne's quoted best hotel last weekend on 1st. March 2014. It was nice to drive in and be welcomed by the porters who helped to unload and park the car. The reception staff were friendly. We were given room 133 which we found were smaller than the one we usually get at the Cavendish Hotel in Eastbourne for a smaller price. The room was clean but the bed was too soft. The health suite and pool were really nice but busy. The staff were all courteous and delightful. Was it worth it? Certainly not double the price of other local hotels even if they have a pool.

Quickly arranged weekend break using a number of sites to find a dog friendly hotel. The Grand seemed to have all the good lady and I required to enjoy a relaxing weekend with our Springer Spaniel. Arrived and the hotel does look grand and yes it is like walking back in time which to us is a pleasant change from the hundreds of chain hotels we have stayed in over the world. The staff from the Doorman to reception ladies were very friendly and we got to our room with in 5 minutes of parking .
The room which was the cheapest and had what was called an inland view had in fact a view of flaking paint and filthy windows which were part of the rear of the hotel you could see a small area of "inland" above the rather nasty view of the building. The room its self was clean large and smelt nice however the bed was rather small and the mattress soft. The shower was next to useless and the pressure very low I had to use the tap shower to rinse off which caused a problem in itself as when I lifted the shower head up the lack of pressure caused the water to go cold so I had to keep adjusting the water flow, not a relaxing shower one could say.
We after a long walk along the prom got back to the hotel and decided to use the spa which was very nice the pool was at a nice temperature and the water felt and smelt clean, the steam room was really hot which is how it should be so full marks there, however when turning on the hot tub I heard a loud pop then the water kinda exploded on one side into the air as one of the nozzles had shot out the thread holding it in which in turn reduced the pressure out of the other nozzles I informed the staff who were going to fix the problem when the spa closed I also noticed some ceiling tiles loose,no swimwear dryer in the means changing room and no body wash in the showers so some tlc required here .
Now the dog friendly bit, we have stayed in all kinds of hotels which state they are dog friendly some of which are indeed friendly and some let dogs stay,The Grand let dogs stay end of story. Dog friendly in my eyes allow the dogs to accompany the owner into the bar or a special area where we can enjoy a drink sitting with our pets, not force owners to remain in the room relying on room service. I fully agree not letting dogs in places where it is expected to dress nice to eat but I feel in the bar or the area at the end of the entrance hall well behaved dogs could sit with owners.
All in all the stay was ok the prices a tad on the high side, we would look around to see where else we could stay before coming back to the The Grand

It makes you feel special this hotel. It's really the service that sets it apart with the customary parking of the car, the placing of bags in the room and the meticulous care of Ben and his team in the Mirabelle. Rooms are dated, but they are comfortable and relaxing. They get what matters right, from being ultra quiet, warm, superb linen, posh toiletries and comfortable armchairs. Even this time an upgraded bathroom (no carpet now!).

The Mirabelle Restaurant is the real treat: continental in style with marvellously spaced tables, silver, finely honed food that is modern on a classical base. Two nights of quite outstanding cooking.

Breakfast is a treat if you order from the menu and have it delivered rather than use the buffet. Love the kidneys, it also manages to be a grand yet intimate room. The staff here are the weak link. Learn to smile, to cossett and to care more. They are not reflective of the rest of the hotel where staff are superb and 'old school'

The Grand still does it very well indeed and it is a wonderfully relaxing hotel. A one off now, very sadly and surprisingly good value on one of their deals.

We stayed at The Grand for a birthday celebration and cannot praise it highly enough. From the moment we arrived we were treated with courtesy from the extremely friendly staff throughout the hotel.
Our rooms were stylish, spacious and extremely comfortable, with glorious sea views.
We enjoyed some time in the pool in the afternoon, grateful for the fluffy bathrooms provided, and had delicious tea and cake in the lounge by the fire.
Dinner in the Mirabelle Restaurant was wonderful. The service was attentive without being intrusive. After a great nights sleep, we had a lovely breakfast in The Garden Room.
Though not cheap, I would not hesitate to recommend The Grand and would be very happy to return for a longer stay. You get what you pay for!

I could not fault this place. We planned a family weekend away for St Valentine's, and from the location, to the staff and the services, it was all great. We had booked a suite and we were upgraded to a Master Suite, which it was amazing! Kids were happy, we were happy. We would and will definitely return to this hotel.

We arrived Sunday and curled up on a sofa in the Grand's lounge and while we had tea and muffins we " people watched".After that we walked all along the front, and returned to the hotel in time for baths before we went down to Dinner. The Hotel was quiet as everyone had left that morning as it was the end of half-term,so after drinks in the quiet bar we went in to Dinner. We payed the small supplement and had the Beef Fillet. It was carved at our table ,and was just perfect!A very generous size, and it was cooked medium rare as asked for.Dinner was great, and we finished the evening with coffee in the Grand Hall, sitting there as if we owned the place!
We awoke to glorious sunshine ,and after a breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs ,we again walked the promenade, and after a pot of coffee we drove back to London.(the M25 was even on best behaviour) .Our night at The Grand could not be faulted.Friendly chatty smiling staff,a comfortable room and food we really enjoyed.I don't think we would have done better anywhere along the South Coast.
