Excellent location, comfortable stay, children were very happy. Breakfast and food in general was good. The SPA treatments were already booked and the indoor swimming pool was very busy. other than the over-crowdedness, it was an enjoyable stay.

We had a lovely stay at the at the Grand hotel, Eastbourne. The hotel itself is extremely grand with the interior decoration and period features. We booked a parking space and the service we received upon arriving at the hotel was amazing and made us feel very special, from the porter service to the restaurant staff, everyone treated us like we were VIP’s. The hotel was in a fantastic location to go and see Eastbourne with direct access to the beach across the road. The spa facilities were really nice but I felt there needed to be more lounger areas for customers to relax by the pool. Our room was comfortable and clean but hot and noisy from seagulls overnight/early morning. The second night was slightly cooler so we shut the windows and kept the fan on for a better night sleep.

A very luxurious 5 star hotel well positioned in Eastbourne. Ambiance is amazing and service up with the best. However room very basic for a 5 star and WiFi bad. Food traditional English but nothing to rave about. Overall worth a visit

We had a two night stay and found the Grand Hotel at Eastbourne to be a lovely place to bring our children for a bit of time out. The staff were all very welcoming and great with us and the children, (age 8 and 10). The cookies and milk, goodies bag, family meal time and generous room size all made for a great stay. We took advantage of the outdoor heated pool (at 31degrees) we were out even in the rain! We also were welcome in the bar and in the snooker room and felt the service from all staff was professional and welcoming. The spa area could do with a bit of an update to the changing facilities and steam room but apart from this all was in great condition.

The Grand has one of the few wheelchair/disabled facilities in the town, but the room we had is near the astonishingly noisy events suite, and noise from this went on until past 2am in the corridor and also on the terrace outside the room (which has a virtually unusable little patio) on which punters smoke and gas long into the night.

The Grand Hotel is a wonderfully impressive building and extremely well maintained considering it's age and size. The staff were all highly trained and helpful to a fault. Great service at all times from reception staff to housekeeping to bar staff. Our room was was bright and airy, spotlessly clean and the bed was really comfortable. Although we didn't dine in the Restaurant we did enjoy breakfast in our room and I have to say it was really good and was set out beautifully.
My only criticism of our stay would be that the drinks in the bar were extremely expensive. Admittedly, I do expect to pay more when staying in a nice hotel but I feel that almost £16 for a cocktail is a tad extortionate as were most of the alcoholic beverages on the drinks list. That aside, we had a really good stay so well done to all the staff at The Grand Hotel Eastbourne!

From start to finish this is hospitality that cannot be bettered. I cannot wait to be in Eastbourne again.

Please feel free to ask me to be a case study for publicity purposes and especially as hotels are getting squeezed.and need testimonials 'to sing their praises'.

If it wasn't for poor service at breakfast, I would give this hotel 5 stars - as I had poor service for 2 mornings, I've had to give 3 out of 5!

First morning, I had to ask three times for vegetarian sausages, by the time I got them, partner had long finished his.

Second morning, we were seated and left, we waited and waited at our table to make tea/coffee/breakfast order, no one came into our area for an age! Eventually someone did to clean up a few tables away, I kept looking to catch her eye but she never looked up, eventually she shouted over to our table (in a slightly unpleasant tone) "Yes, I'll be there in a minute" - this was shouted without any eye contact made at any point (prior or during) for me to even know she'd noticed me trying to catch her eye for service!!

Was a shame that both mornings I felt either frustrated or annoyed at rudeness as it slightly spoilt a birthday weekend away!! Other then that, room was lovely, service at dinner/bar was excellent, as were the menu choices. Spa could do with a little updating.

In need of an interior facelift but the location, buildings, people and food are really great.
Harks back to a mid 20th century hotel image currently..... which could nevertheless be really lovely if the interiors were renovated and made light and attractive and new beds brought in, current beds are old and uncomfortable. At present the interiors are rather gloomy and tired.

From the front this is an impressive looking hotel and is lovely inside the ground floor but the hotel room we had which was described as a Deluxe Double Room on the booking site was quite average and disappointing. With no air conditioning and just a fan plus a small window the room was very hot plus the bathroom window did not open which added to heat in the room. We did put on our booking that this was for a special occasion but was told that we could spend another £105 per night if we wanted a sea view. Unfortunately although a five star hotel and the service was very good the poor room was a disappointment.

From the impressive outlook of the hotel you would assume that this hotel is quite exclusive - both the look and feel reflect this. However, once inside the welcoming is so warm to everyone - with children especially catered for to the smallest detail (Cookies and milk at bedtime!). It's a fantastic family experience that makes you taste the exclusive - both my children and i love it there.

If you want good old fashioned service and posh surroundings, then The Grand is the place to be. You're made to feel very special. The hotel has an old time grandeur (have an afternoon tea in the Great Hall), the rooms are plush, and restaurant food beautifully prepared.

I had an excellent lunch here in the very grand Garden Room. Very reasonable prices for the food, though drinks are the usual hotel sort of price.
Having been lucky enough to travel widely, I am surprised the hotel is classed as a 5 star hotel, I think a 4 star is more like it. When you compare to other 5 star hotels it comes up short in the decor and furnishings. If you look around you might notice the tired chairs with very saggy seats and rather faded upholstery, the carpet fraying at the edges and coming away from the join and the outdated decor of the ladies room etc. It gives the feel of a slightly faded great lady. As long as you are prepared for that you won't be disappointed but don't compare it to the 5 star hotels you might find in other cities or you'll fall short.

We have just returned from a three night stay at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. The trip was to celebrate a special occasion and we couldn't have selected anywhere better.
We opted for sea view deluxe room which gave a side view of the sea but generally a very acceptable view. The room was sunny, spacious and very well appointed. Everywhere was beautifully clean and we were impressed that small points such as the the replenishment of bottles of water was never forgotten.
It was also good to find that a turning down service was still routine in this hotel. A treat usually forgotten nowadays.
The hotel has a modern classic appearance and belongs to a time when hotel standards mattered. Despite this, it doesn't feel dated or stuffy. This is difficult to achieve but we feel this hotel achieves it very successfully.
The breakfasts are well presented and tasty although the selection could be a little wider.
We opted for the Garden Room for dining and thoroughly enjoyed the meals. The selection incorporates plenty of fresh ingredients, the selection should meet most residents' tastes and the service is excellent. We loved the sorbet and the small appetisers, compliments of the chef, to start our meals.
This was not our first visit to the Grand and we certainly hope it won't be the last.

We were very happy with the Grand and have stayed in previous years for the Over35s tennis. We had a poor dining experience though taking over 2 hours to have dinner and waiting after 11PM for desert.

We ate at the restaurant in The Grand Hotel and everything was lovely. The food was delicious with a lot of vegetarian choice. There was a piano playing in the background which added to the atmosphere It felt like it was the Ritz of Eastbourne. The cocktails were delicious too (I would recommend the Sam Sour and the one that was like Ferraro Rocher).

We also visited the bar the night before. They had live music on the Saturday night which was lovely. Many couples began dancing to the live music which was lovely to watch.

We would definitely visit again whether it was just for drinks or dinner too.

A most enjoyable break, within an excellent hotel with attentive staff, my room was small but adequate, due to the hot weather we had the window open at night and there was a lot of street noise. Having said that we had a most enjoyable stay and will be going again.

Situated in a quiet part of the town and yet being within 15 minutes walk of the pier via a pretty promenade and gardens. Good restaurants nearby which we frequently used as the hotel food and drinks were pricey. Indoor and outdoor pools fabulous. Parking limited at the time of our visit. Very good breakfast and first class service. Would recommend and stay again.
