A little gem. Free. Friendly staff. Three floors. Child friendly

The good thing about the Towner is that there is free entry. The downside is that it is all about modern art and installations with barely any time or space given to more traditional paintings or sculpture. The Ravilious collection is housed in one small room. The old Towner had a greater variety of material and it is a huge shame that none of this is displayed. The gallery is style over substance as far as I can see.

Love it here. Few small exhibition rooms, just enough usually for a morning or afternoon, and really nice cafe with good views.

Great art gallery, looks fabulous from the outside (although I have heard locals complaining about that design, but it comes down to personal taste, doesn't it). Entry is free of charge, super nice cafe on the top, fantastic fuse box to relax inbetween. The exhibitions are changing and once again, are subject to personal taste. I liked it a lot.

A contemporary art gallery with large studio space to devoted to all types of art including the more bizarre... definitely thought provoking.
Unusually, this art gallery includes a library area which provided space to study, reflect and read many of the books about the artists. We really enjoyed our trip and learning about the local artist Eric Ravilious and the small exhibition of his work. Lovely cafe on the second floor too!

The David Nash exhibition is really worth the visit, it's set across 2 floors and shows the progression of his work from early to most recent.

I especially enjoyed the piece downstairs made from raw Cedarwood, the smell and size hits you twice - on the nose and on the eyes.

Excellent exhibition with large wooden structures by David Nash of great beauty and inspiration. Highly recommendable video footage of cork harvest in Spain. Very enjoyable visit to permanent exhibition of local artist Eric Ravilious. His work is so modern and timeless. After finishing the South Downs Walk his pictures were like illustrations of the views we enjoyed this autumn. Incredible!
What took our breath away was a masterpiece by contemporary artist Grayson Perry.

The exhibition of David Nash's large and small scale wood sculptures was breath taking. On until February and definitely recommended. The exbition was free and the gallery is spacious and light. Cafe good too.

We were surprised how large the Nash exhibition was a lot of his work from over the decades but also good videos on the background to some of his work. Also videos that are art work.

I'll start by saying the art is very professional and there's something for everyones taste, the cafe's great and there are different activities for kids too. The exhibitions are good but you have to catch the right one for you.

Me and my family visit several times a year and have found that some of the art stays there for ages and can get a bit boring if you keep visiting but the Towner has been painted rainbow recently which ,in my opinion, is a great touch since it's an 'art' gallery!

I would definitely recommend this gallery to any lovers of art and people who are interested in it.

Tasty cakes with dairy free and gluten free options, great coffee and a nice outdoor terrace. Enjoy the art gallery that this cafe is based within.
