Spent a week here whilst we visited our son. My wife is partially disabled and we hired a scooter for her to get around, first problem the entrance was all steps no disabled access.
Reception was good and very impressive. The room we were allocated I will describe as compact, especially the bathroom but did come with good quality towels and bedding with the hotels initials on. On the second day we returned to the room after breakfast to find the teapot had not been emptied, neither had the waste paper basket and there was still toothpaste in the sink. The biggest complaint was a face flannel with 4/5 tea and coffee stains on. As we had drunk only one cup of tea the flannel had been used in other rooms to clean the cups in those rooms. After a complaint to the duty manager a tray of fresh fruit appeared in the room. Only problem then was after 3 days the strawberries had mold on
The next problem for us was that entry to the restaurant was up three flights of stairs, it would appear that the disability act is not applicable to hotels in Guernsey.
We chose the conservatory for breakfast most mornings, several of the tiles were cracked and the chairs had chips out of them. The cold food was good and a plentiful supply, tea and coffee always took a long time to arrive and we did experience problems with the hot food. A cheese omlette came without the cheese, when that happened a second time it was it was sent back. We had got into the habit of asking for extra cheese to make sure we did get some cheese. I know it was written down on our order as I watched the server write it down. The staff were very young and lacked experience but all very polite. A special mention goes to Chlaris always a pleasure to be served by her. To be fair we did receive a discount on our final bill for our problems. A nice touch though was the hotel is part of a chain and all the staff wore red carnations
Would we visit Guernsey again YES we loved the place. Would we visit The Richmond again NO a very expensive 4 star hotel that needs some TLC and the problems sorting out and quickly before all the guests return

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a few days as the base to explore some of the Channel Islands. The Duke of Richmond is an old-fashioned hotel but I mean that as a compliment. Service was excellent - it's a while since I had a proper turn-down service at a hotel. The bed was amazingly comfortable - and large. We ate dinner in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was wonderful. There's plenty of fish on the menu as you would expect from the location. We had breakfast on the terrace of our room and that was lovely too. The attention to detail was impressive; for instance each piece of fruit in the fruit selection was cut cleanly and was perfectly ripe. We had a most enjoyable stay here.

This lovely hotel is the perfect place to stay in Guernsey. The breakfast is one of the best I’ve encountered! The beds were so comfortable and everything was clean and beautifully furnished. It’s a great location for getting to the port too. We were lucky with the weather and the outdoor pool was so relaxing. It was too hot in our room and staff were really helpful with fixing it so we were more comfortable. We had a great stay!

Our deluxe sea view room was extremely small and we had to pay to upgrade to a better room in order to be able to move around comfortably. The rooms are tired and in need of updating in terms of furnishings and fittings. I have not ever seen as much limescale on taps and this really needs to be addressed. We could hear the TV from the room next door most of the time which meant very thin walls.

The staff in the dining room at breakfast really need some training and direction. It may be better not to have them read from a script to ask you if you had slept well and let them be a bit more natural so they can focus on what they are doing. Each morning at breakfast we had long waits to get tea and coffee and generally had to ask at least one more time, sometimes twice. The food orders often got mixed up and seemed to go to the wrong table and there seemed to be a state of confusion most mornings. There was zero atmosphere, so quiet you felt you could not have a conversation so we didnt try it for evening meals.

The outside terrace is seriously under utilized and needs a spruce up and an injection of some soul to make guests want to sit and have a drink. There was one very nice bar man who tried very hard to give the space some life but the space is not appealing as it stands. On a nice sunny day and with the view down to the sea it should have been buzzing but this will only happen if they invest in updating and cleaning.

Some of the Reception staff were very nice but one in particular seemed to take issue with anything that was asked of her. The Hotel advertises free parking but there are about 5 spaces (none of which were available) and otherwise you have to find parking in the road and rent the parking dial system from the hotel - parking dials can be for 2 or 10 hours depending on where in the road you park so you are constantly having to worry about moving your car.

There is a lot of potential but not without some investment in fixtures, fittings and staff training.

Absolutely loved this place. We stayed for a week as soon as they reopened. We felt really welcome and the customer facing management team are such a nice bunch of people . Obviously reopening after such a long closure gave some teething issues but we found all the staff keen to please and engage. Checking in and out was very easy abd the flexibility shown with a late checkout was much appreciated.
The cleanliness of hotel and standard of housekeeping was fantastic and it was lovely to return there after a day or evening out.
The bar and restaurant are welcoming and we ate there several evenings and were well looked after.
I wish the hotel and staff every success as they hopefully open up more as summer progresses.

From the moment you arrive you know you’re going to enjoy your visit. The staff are warm and welcoming and the service is fantastic. The decor is elegant with a lovely modern feel to it.
The food in the restaurant is exceptional and clearly making the most of local produce. The fish pie is simply the best I’ve ever had, contemporary in design yet with that feeling of comfort food.
To top it all off, I was treated to a lovely surprise when the staff found out it was my birthday.
Thank you to all of you who made my visit so enjoyable.

We had a winter warmer there weekend of the 7th and I must say couldn’t fault it check was excellent lovely receptionist, super room, love what they’ve done to the place. Bar staff extremely friendly and efficient same with the restaurant staff namely Csilla, Charlotte, Agness and Olga for breakfast would have liked to name the barman but didn’t catch his name but everyone was great, thanks management and staff for a superb stay.

My husband, myself and our son stayed in the 2 bedroom garden apartment for a week over Christmas. We arrived to find a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the lounge room which was so thoughtful. Canapes were delivered to the apartment each evening with a smile and little extras appeared from time to time. The apartment itself was well appointed, very comfortable bed, quiet surrounds, equipped with a small kitchen, everything a family would need. The main standout though was the exemplary service from the staff. We were made to feel special and any request was met with genuine helpfulness and friendliness. The chef even created a special dish for our breakfast. Highly recommended.

Attended our works dinner here a week since, superb meal & overnight venue.

Table set brilliantly and cleaned well after seating but before service, ie empty bar glasses and spent crackers/hats/ novelties etc, a good minor point but noticeable.

Foods came swiftly, hot, plentiful and very tasty. Well beyond any level of mass function catering I’ve experienced before. All on our table commenting on portion size, quality and temperature of foods served.

Staff a bit swift on clearing glasses and even removed a fresh large G&T we’d jusreplenished, however it was soon replaced with an apology by the waitress without any hesitation or debate when pointed out, an honest mistake.

The bedroom was their entry level, very clean, very well stocked and quite lush in furnishings, loads of mirrors and shiny bits, quality bedding and curtains, a little cramped but the only downside and we were only overnighters anyway so livable.

Hope to be back next year, loved it, thank you.

The hotel lives up to its high reviews. It had a beautiful interior. The staff were immediately welcoming and friendly.

The location is perfect, close 5o everything you could need.

I cannot wait to stay again next time I visit the island.

The staff were very helpful. However, room 312 was small and oddly shaped. This was not helped by too much furniture. There were 3 dressers, a wardrobe and a table mostly mirrored but the wardrobe was ordinary in comparison. There was an excellent selection of teas and coffees but no fridge. The bathroom was more modern in decor so therefore not in keeping with the room. This was also oddly configured. However, comfortable once you got used to it. The breakfast was excellent, well served and many interesting choices. Not centrally located but not too far from main attractions. A good stay overall.

Had an overnight stay here for my birthday celebration. The room was gorgeous with fantastic sea views and a four poster bed (were upgraded due to TV not working in original room). Was presented with cakes and a card in the room and we were given complimentary drinks and fizz for the hassle of moving. How to make someone feel special!

We chose the hotel because we live in Richmond in South West London but more importantly because of good reviews in Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed.

The hotel is around 15 minutes walk from St Peter Port which includes going through the delightful Candie Gardens.

The hotel is part of a luxury chain and is very professionally rune.

The greeting was warm and the room was beautifully fitted out.. We stayed for two days and in that time got a good idea of Guernsey in General and St Peter Port in particular.

The breakfast and dinner were very good and, all in all we had a great time. The hotel is not cheap but we felt we got good value for money

We had a wonderful stay in the duke of Richmond- staff could not have been kinder with extra effort gone to by Paul, Eleanor, Lisa and Sorin. Thank you all for fantastic time- great food, drinks and fabulous beds with immaculate housekeeping. Thank you also to Ciaran for searching for Hummus for mums breakfast and then presenting her with two different kinds!

Lovely, lovely hotel in a great location in Guernsey. Set against a park and just a short walk into town - we couldn't have picked a better spot. The hotel has thought of every single detail to make it as comfortable as your home. The staff were brilliant with each and everyone of them warm and kind and welcoming. They even thought to bring a lovely cake for my birthday. Would absolutely recommend this hotel and will absolutely stay here again. Thank you for everything!!

Brilliant hotel. On arrival we received an upgrade to a well fitted room on the 4th floor with views of the park/sea and town. The room was spotless as was the whole hotel. Large, comfortable bed with free turn down service. Towels were changed twice a day. The staff were excellent in this hotel, extremely helpful. The food was outstanding. The breakfast was plentiful. All the hot food was served on hot plates, which is often lacking in a lot of hotels. The dinner was superb and was part of the Tennerfest celebrations on the island eg 3 courses for £20!! Outstanding value.
Our only criticism is the lack of many parking places at the hotel. However this did not affect our wonderful break at this hotel. All the local amenities are within walking distance of the hotel. We will certainly come back. thanks once again to all the staff.

The hotel was not as central as I had hoped. Restaurant was nice, good food and service.

Room was a little tired, for a 4* hotel the bathroom should have been a better quality. Hotel is slightly overpriced

We stayed here for a whole week, which is unusual for us, we had a brilliant time. The staff were always pleasant and cheerful, the food was amazing, especially breakfast which was very substantial. Our room was quiet, even though it was on a road, room was slightly small but very comfortable- nothing was too much trouble.

We had a 6 night stay in this lovely hotel. The room was clean and well kept and with free turn down service every night!
Food was amazing and good selection for breakfast!
Olga, the restaurant manager was fantastic, she met our every need with politeness and a beautiful smile every time. She is an asset to the hotel.
Dawda, the concierge was fantastic and helped us with all our needs.
Alex & Ben were efficient and respectful at meal times.
It’s only a 10 min walk to the port although steep hills at times.
Swimming pool was great and the terrace was a lovely sun trap!
Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be coming back.

Although an excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff the room we had was very small, The room was 301 and it was difficult to walk round the bed, when sitting on the chair you banged your head on the tv and if you moved the chair could not get past, the view from the window was a rundown building. We enjoyed our stay but would not want this room again.

I stayed at this hotel just about three weeks ago. Since we were travelling as a family of three we took up the Penthouse suite on the top floor which has two rooms each with its own baths. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. As for the staff I can only have praises for them in particular the ladies at the reception.
The hotel is located on a somewhat hilly area and the walk back from St Peters Port was a little tiring but that is in the character of the Island of Guernsey so it really does not become much of an issue.
Overall I would give them top marks. Highly recommended.
