From the moment of arrival, the quality of service was apparent. The quiet, efficient reception, even though we were early, helped to ease the stress of travel. We temporarily left our luggage in the reception store, and the next time we saw it, it was in our room! Our room was airy, clean and comfortable. It was maintained so well throughout our stay by cheerful yet inobtrusive staff. The restaurant served quality meals, particularly dinner, which was so very well presented. Every member of staff we met, smiled and said 'hello'. They all gave the impression of being there to help. We are definitely going again!

We stayed at the "Duke of Richmond" as we had enjoyed eating there in recent years. We were greeted at reception with quiet efficiency and we soon renewed our friendship with the restaurant manager; his genial greeting and watchful eye is only matched by the star quality of the head waitress. We found our room pleasant and the bed very comfortable. The second day we met the head chef who is still eager to please - an attitude shared with the barman whoses irrepressible jollity is infectious!
Set, as it is, between delightful public gardens and Cambridge Park, the hotel enjoys an ideal location, only ten minutes walk from the shops. We certainly hope to go there again.

Rooms have been semi refurbished but common parts still in need of an improvement. Staff are still friendly as ever.

We have been coming to this hotel for the last five years and were not surprised to hear that they have been given the Gold Award. The management are always working to meet the changing demands of the guests and they and the rest of the staff are pleased to do everything to make the stay in the hotel total comfort. It is certainly worthy of a four star rating. We ate in the restaurant every night during our weeks stay and do not believe that even the Savoy in London could serve better food.

We went over to Guernsey for the first time in April with friends on a 3 night for price of 2 deal
and were delighted with the newly refurbished rooms overlooking the bay. The hotel has 3stars but when all the rooms are refurbished will certainly deserve an extra star.
We ate the first night in the hotel £22 for four courses including coffee and can honestly say that the food probably the best we have ever had in a hotel. Beautifully cooked and presented to a very high standard. The wine list was very reasonable and with a fine selection of wines to choose from. We ate out the next night but returned to the hotel for our final evening's meal and finished our holiday by having a 3 course lunch for £12. We think that you would be hard pushed to find anywhere better to eat in St Peters Port. Breakfasts were to an equally high standard. There is a cosy lounge and bar and huge sun terrace to relax with a drink or two in the evening. If you are a keen swimmer and go on holiday out of season there is a large indoor pool within a few minutes walk of the hotel.
We would certainly go back to the hotel, maybe for a summer or autumn break and cannot recommend it too highly especially a 3 for 2 night deal.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and could not do enough to help.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Duke of Richmond for months upon months and whilst my stay was in Guernsey was away from family I cannot say enough for the staff at the Hotel, from the Kitchen to the House keeping to the Bar staff to the Reception team, along with the Management who all became my adopted family.
It is so assuring that they assist you in any request you may have and always had a smile for me; I take away very fond memories of this Hotel and its staff in making my stay one of pure please.
The rooms are excellent in size and true home comforts, a great selection of programmes on the TV and a lovely bath/shower that has the power to refresh your every time.
Always nice clean linen, great selection of food and a quirky bar where I spent most of my time enjoying my meals and the pleasure of Orlando & George who constantly give 5 star service.
The help from the Front Desk via Natasha, Sandrine, Marcus who looked after my repeated request’s without the hint of any problems, I thank thee.
The list is endless for my gratitude to all that looked after me, for me this Hotel beat hands down the others that I visited in my early stay and it just leaves me to say a big thank you to Olga and her Staff for providing a great service at Breakfast and dinner during the nights.

All the best

James

In our increasingly chaotic world, it is all the more appreciated when you arrive somewhere and, immediately, feel welcome. Guernsey is a particularly friendly place to begin with, but no where is the local hospitality better seen than at the Duke of Richmond. The first thing you notice when you arrive is that the staff is actually happy to see you. They are friendly and they are accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed, the services are extremely efficient and the food happens to be very good. The general manager, Stephen Purtill, is an old fashioned, hands-on "inn keeper" who shows that he cares by being very visible. He's right there to do whatever he can for his clients. And his "make our guests feel welcome" philosophy gives this hotel a five-star "thumbs up."/ Jeffrey Robinson

An attractive and well maintained hotel where the management and staff combine the qualities of professionalism with friendliness. Our room was both comfortable and tastefully furnished with ample drawer and hanging space and generous tea/coffee facilities. Superior quality fittings and toiletries in the newly refurbished bathroom. Excellent breakfasts with superbly efficient and attentive service. Short walks to town, parkland, beautiful gardens and leisure centre made it perfectly appointed for exploring beautiful Guernsey. An enjoyable and memorable stay.

My husband and I picked this hotel from the internet and after phone calls with Marcus on reception, who was very helpful, made our reservations for four nights. We arrived Saturday afternoon to a very warm welcome. Our room (Midrange sea view) was lovely and very comfortable and clean. The restaurant menu was delicious and the breakfast was to die for. All the staff were so friendly and very attentive. Our thanks to Marcus, Jimmie, Katea, Alexander Olga and everyone just to mention a few but ALL we thank.
We will return and highly recommend this hotel.

The weather was very wet on the two days we stayed so we didn't get to try the outdoor pool but it looked good.

The room was a decent size and very comfy.

The breakfasts were excellent. Good range of choices very helpful waitresses & waiters.

Didn't eat dinner in the restaurant.

Helpful staff. Very quiet peaceful spot on the hill a short walk from town.

WiFi wasn't free. I do think this should be. Although it wasn't expensive as I recall.

When I state at the duke of Richmond I was welcomed by the reception staff, taken care of and showed where my room was. All of the staff are very friendly and they can help with most things, even helping you get somewhere in guernsey. The quality of the rooms were excellent, very clean, tidy and comfortable.

My husband and I have just returned from a brilliant long weekend stay at the Duke of Richmond Hotel.

We are very pleased indeed to 'spread the word' about this hotel. Their staff are always friendly, helpful and efficient providing an extensive range of food cooked to perfection and beautifully presented; an extremely high level of cleanliness throughout; together with a quality service worthy of Trip Advisor's highest rating.

Visiting Guernsey for the first time from Iceland, the Duke of Richmond made our stay simply lovely. Upon arrival our room was spontaneously upgraded. The service was impecable and all the staff very warm and welcoming and always ready to be of assistance. We found the room very pleasant and clean with a nice view. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excelent and the breakfast good. The location is also very good. So all in all... all you could wish for in a hotel :)

Whenever I am on a businees trip in Guernsey I stay at The Duke of Richmond because it meets all my needs: high quality standards, cleanliness, efficient and friendly staff at all times, quietness and excellent location (you can walk to town through Candy gardens, see Victor Hugo's statue and have a wonderful view on the beautiful islands of Herm and Sark!)
The restaurant serves real 'haute cuisine' (the food is always wonderful !!) and the bar is worth a visit!
A place I feel at home... I'll be back!

It was warm hotel to stay, the friendly staff was always keen to help. Upon arrival they spontaneously upgraded our room. Whenever we came back from a long walk around the island, the room looked beautiful. The breakfast buffet was a good reason to wake up early :) and the pool temperature was also very nice, even at 7 pm in september.

We have stayed here before but this time I thought I would finally get round to saying how good it is to stay here! We came over to see some friends and go for some nice meals etc. The rooms are clean, spacious and modern, beds are very comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
We ate at the hotel on two occasions and both meals were lovely, generous portions as well. Trying to think of something that wasn't up to scratch but I can't! This is high praise indeed from a Jerseyman! Will be back soon

My wife and I think this a most comfortable Hotel. Our room was very spacious and the bathroom was large . Sheets changed daily and we also had a fridge in our room. The staff are very helpful and efficient. This is just a most pleasant hotel to stay in. The food is exceptional for the money that you pay. There is a nice bar, where lunchtime food is served and plenty of comfortable seating areas . Once you have found a hotel of this quality you seriously would not to want stay anywhere else.in Guernsey. We will certainly be back next year. I defy anyone to find a better 3 star hotel on the Island.

My wife and I stayed at this lovely hotel for four days in late September. The room was really comfortable, well-appointed and spotless.
The hotel staff members were very efficient, courteous and welcoming.
The meals were absolutely excellent, extremely well prepared, delightful and wholesome. We complimented the chef on the range and quality of the meals because they were way above the average hotel meal. The waiting staff too were quite charming, obliging, polite and very efficient.
In short, we enjoyed a really pleasant stay and I would without hesitation recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of visiting Guernsey.

We were made most welcome when we arrived at 10 am and coffee and biscuits soon were served to revive us after our journey, for which we were not charged. Our luggage was placed into the Baggage Room and put into our room when it was ready while we went out and enjoyed an interesting day at Castle Cornet. The room was large and comfortable with a flat screen TV on the wall and a balcony from which we could glimpse the sea through a frame of trees in the neighbouring park. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of space for our toiletries and those supplied by the hotel were replenished every day. The restaurant was pleasant and airy and we enjoyed all the food served by courteous waiters and waitresses. The young lady in charge made a special point of making sure everyone was satisfied. The weather was glorious and all in all we were very pleased to be there.

If you are looking for high-end accommodation but with warm, home atmosphere with the friendly, efficient service, then the Duke of Richmond Hotel is the place to stay. I often travel to Guernsey, but this time, the hotel I normally stay at was full, so my company booked me in at “The Duke”. My cosy room on the top floor overlooked the harbour. It was immaculately clean, with beautiful, modern decor in keeping with the elegant style of the entrance hall. For dinner I decided to stay in and went down to the Cocktail Bar (which surprised me with its unusual ship theme). On the barman’s recommendation I sampled the local sea bass from their specials menu - it was simply delicious and well-presented. The whole atmosphere there was just perfect - nothing pretentious, yet elegant and homely at the same time.
As I was catching the red eye, I decided to settle my account the night before and although the girls at reception were quite busy with other guests (there was a large group of tourists staying at the hotel), once my turn came I was treated like I was the only one staying at the hotel! The receptionists were amongst the most friendly and professional I have ever encountered.
Unfortunately, as I had to leave early in the morning, I did not have the opportunity to enjoy my full breakfast in the restaurant, but had a freshly brewed coffee and fruit salad delivered to my room instead and which arrived spot on at the requested time. I can’t rate this hotel highly enough with its attentive, friendly service, they definitely know how to make their guests feel at home and make them want to return again!
