This does deserve its Michelin star and No 1 in Gorey restaurants spot . Its the staff and above all the food that makes it special . From home bread ++ while you sip your aperitif to lovely starters ( I enjoyed the razor clam thermidor special ) , the selection from the regular menu and the specials was excellent . For main the skating was nicely presented and the homemade on the premises ice creams were to die for . The staff team were so friendly and efficient - a credit to the restaurant and albeit not cheap I felt it was good value . It was appropriate for our special occasion .

We were pleased to see a wide selection of sea food (and ice cream) on offer. It was a great experience and we will be back. Thank you Kirsty and team!

Bass and Lobster is a most pleasant restaurant on Gorey Coast Road in St Martin’s. It is a seven-minute walk from the bustling Gorey Bay Pier area. It has a pleasant, airy, unpretentious, ambience. It is not cramped. It has a limited number of tables and it is hugely popular, so you should book in advance. The staff are incredibly attentive, even on a busy evening. The were also polite, friendly and professional. They are at pains to try to go that extra mile. The food is excellent. There is a bar and stools if you would rather sit there, as opposed to your table, for a drink before dinner. There is a window giving views into the busy kitchen.
The food is locally sourced. My wife chose Catch of the Day, which was Bass - £19.95. I went for the Chargrilled pork chop and crackling, with chimichurri dressing, sweet potato mash, charred tender stem broccoli - £19.95 Cheese Cake £8.95. All were delicious. We drank a Prosecco £7.95 a Peroni £4.75 and bottle of Chardonnay with the meal at £21.95 – total £83.50. Excellent value for a quality meal. Highly recommended.

Food was absolutely amazzing and the hostess and all of the staff were great. The crackling arrived on the mains and it was still popping it was so fresh. All of the food was of a very high standard. We had the stilton ice cream for dessert and it was gorgeous. I would definitely recommend! 10/10!

Had a fabulous lunch at this spot just outside of Gorey. Service was excellent and the food outstanding. My partner is a big ice-cream fan and to see a list that included flavours like Red Thai Curry, Sourdough, Stilton and Wild Garlic, blew her mind.

What a lunch!! Delicious and affordable! Packed full of Jersey local produce including their garden grown ingredients. Incredibly accommodating to our dietary requirements & daft requests (couldn’t leave without trying one of Freddie’s Pickled Quail Eggs!). With delicious and weird homemade ice creams that are to die for. No matter how weird they sound. Staff were friendly, welcoming and brilliant. Can’t fault the restaurant, staff or food. Will be back on my next Jersey retreat.

Lunched with friends today. First visit for several years. Menu had good variety and the food was original, tasty and the preparation/presentation was excellent. No wonder that they now have Michelin recognition. Most enjoyable and reasonably priced for the quality.

We dined here on a Wednesday night. Lively and friendly atmosphere. The food here is exceptional. Whether it’s the Stilton ice-cream or mushroom & date ketchup or cooking a piece of fish to perfection, this is the best-value, best-everything restaurant in Jersey, without exception.
From the kitchen to front-of-house, this is an honest, down-to-Earth, yet exceptional (that word again) restaurant that provides a complete dining experience.
If you visit Jersey without going here, it’s a wasted holiday.

I have just had the most wonderful evening at the Bass and Lobster! I ordered the salmon and every element of the dish was incredible and so complementary. I don’t think I have ever enjoyed a meal so much! To add to the delicious food, the atmosphere was lovely; inviting and friendly yet also felt luxurious and special. The staff were brilliant. I have to say this is an absolute gem of a restaurant. Massive thanks to the staff and amazing chef!

We had the set lunch menu and it is amazing value for money. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious.
I would highly recommend coming here for the food!

I feel the atmosphere and interior was not at the same exceptional standard. It could possibly do with modernising but this is just personal taste.

I'm amazed to read the review by Lucy A. We had dinner here, the food was excellent - stuffed courgette flower and tempura prawns to start. Lamb burger and fish and chips for mains. Both were excellent. Service also very good. Would definitely recommend!

This is a must go to when you are in Jersey! My wife and I had dinner here and it was fantastic, all the food is locally sourced and even the the school's competition catch of the day was on the menu. 😋 What made our evening even more enjoyable was the friendlyness of the staff, the landlady is so entertaining and prides herself on the locally sourced foods, she is also a bundle of joy to have around you, when we come back to Jersey we will definitely be reserving a table here... More than once. 👍

So good we went there twice and certainly the best dining experience of our holiday ! A 60 plus cover place with a bar and stools for early arrivals in the centre of the L shaped room which is next to a window into the busy kitchen. We were welcomed by Kirstie, the cheerful and friendly proprietor (husband, head chef) who runs a busy excellent front of house team who echo her approach to customers A lively atmosphere with many locals. The a la carte menu together with a supplementary list of daily specials are locally sourced and cater for every taste. After some artisan bread we went straight to Mains on our first visit. I chose the catch of the day of two good sized plaice fillets stuffed with Jersey Royals, steamed greens and an excellent fish veloute. It was cooked perfectly as I find this fish is usually over done into a fishy pulp. My wife enjoyed a grilled pork chop with crackling, sweet potato mash and steamed greens. If you are into desserts, this menu is for you. I chose a rhubarb sorbet and my Wife had a good pannacotta. At £66 including a couple of drinks, great value for money.
