We attended both a free guided tour and Eucharist on Sunday. So welcoming. Such a change not to feel pressurized to give large amounts of money. We actually willingly made a large donation because we felt so welcome.

It is a beautiful building, the staff are helpful and friendly. My catholic friend was messing about with the font something to do with holy water. We had looks of surprise but no one challenged him.

Make this a must if you come to Lichfield. It has no charge to pay but please be generous. Steeped in history and beautiful.

Very large and high, it has three spires. The interior is full of placques to old soldiers and wealthy people, with a bit of information about these people. As you walk around you get the feeling that when this was constructed it must have been an impressive sight due to them doing it all by hand.

A beautiful building. Free to visit. Very informative guides. We parked behind the George Hotel and walked round to the cathedral . The front of the cathedral is superb.

Took mum who has wanted to visit for years and we finally got her there. The place is beautiful. Our last visit was 3 years ago for the Xmas tree show. Found the cat and mouse this time :-) . Mum had a great time taking photos and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the place. Thank you to all staff.

I enjoy photographing Cathedrals and we're working our way round the country slowly ticking them off our list. This time, the last of the "L's" - Lichfield.
Approached from the front, it's breathtaking. Not a huge Cathedral, but unusual in having three spires, being built mostly of sandstone and the statues of saints, kings, bishops and the rest which cover the frontage being in such excellent condition; beautiful work. Most often you see the spaces where such pieces used to be so we were puzzled at first by the full complement - until we found out the Victorians had replaced the old, the damaged and the missing. Good for them. It's an awesome looking building.
Inside, it's graceful and beautifully finished. Some lovely vaulting and glass. Helpful and knowledgeable volunteers on duty, and as luck would have it, I was able to get on a roof tour, which I'd advise anyone to do. It's £8 for a guided tour and explanation of the roof pace and the building techniques used. Excellent! You do need to be able to climb 90 narrow steps in a spiral and to squeeze through some small and awkward spaces, so the large or infirm needn't apply........ I'm 5'10 and 16.5 stone, which works, but if you're 6'2"ish and 20 stone, take some goose grease with you.

Sis and I do enjoy travelling to Lichfield Cathedral, by train, to experience the Choir sung Evensong. Magic sounds reverberating around the Cathedral.
Not many here today but ot means we could sit inches away from the choir. What dedication the choir have as they always seem to be the same faces, even the tiny angelic boys are always there.

Visited this excellent cathedral on many occasions. If you are in the area be sure to call in. Adequate parking nearby and close to restraints, shops etc.

We had friends visiting from Chicago and took them to the Cathedral.
A service was in progress but we were still permitted to take a look around. Such a beautiful place to visit, it never disappoints and is always clean.
The gift shop was open an had several lovely gifts for sale.

When I last came here with my partner, there was an art exhibit on which was a nice little touch since it wasn’t planned. It was a very culturally interesting trip and it taught me a thing or two about the religion. I would recommend this to anybody in Lichfield who has a spare 30 minutes.

This isn't a quick 20 minute mooch around a cathedral.So much history to see inside we spent nearly two hours there. The place is really beautiful and so much more than a few statues and stain glass windows. The memorials inside were amazing. A section of the cathedral was set aside for memorials to the members of the Staffordshire regiments and most poignant for me was the Zulu shields depicting the Boer War and the battle at Rorks Drift. Will definitely revisit when we go back to Lichfield. So well worth the visit.

We arrived just in time for the rooftop tour, so we quickly booked in. Our friendly guides, David and Don, pointed out some interesting features of the cathedral before we made our way through a door tucked in a corner and up a spiral staircase behind the walls. We emerged in a void between the nave and the roof. The guides led us through the roofspace, pointing out interesting features and explaining the almost-thousand-year history of the cathedral and nearby city. We emerged on an outer gallery, with amazing views over the city and a different perspective of the cathedral. After taking in the views and learning a little more, we returned along the roof of the nave, crossed the central spire, and made our way to the other end of the cathedral roof. We got to peek into several areas not visible from the main cathedral, including a gallery where mediaeval singers would have hidden behind the statues on the cathedral's front to sing on special occasions. The tour lasted for about an hour, and was fascinating and well worth the 8GBP fee. We spent another hour exploring the rest of the cathedral (at ground level), viewing old manuscripts, sculptures and learning the history of the stained glass windows. We were even lucky to hear the choir rehearsing and visiting bell ringers practicing. Definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful building, well worth a visit,breathtaking. Very busy as we were there on Easter weekend so we plan to return at a quiter time to really explore more of this beautiful place. Also hotel staff recommend visiting at Christmas where it is magical when all lit up at night.

We’ve been to Lichfield today, popped into the cathedral our 1st visit. Absolutely beautiful calm place, we lite a candle n made a donation. Sat n said a few prayers 🙏🏻 For our loved ones. Well worth a visit, free entry but don’t forget to make a donation. Lichfield’s a great place to visit n there’s plenty of places to eat or just have a coffee n watch the world go by x

Lichfield cathedral is one not to miss. Not only does it have 3 spires but the most stunning facade I have ever seen. People rave about the cathedral in Barcelona, this is on an equal footing. Free to get in, personal guides available. Also displays local artists both in traditional mediums and digital mediums - very 21st century. The interior does not disappoint, some great history. Well worth the visit

Before visiting Lichfield I'd never heard of Lichfield Cathedral but I'm so glad we visited. the building inside and out is just beautiful. Also the staff/volunteers we met were all so friendly and informative. Highly recommended.

Visited Lichfield on a Winters Sunday afternoon, walking around it's cobbled and olde world streets and ending up at the cathedral. The afternoon was a complete delight, - its charming shops and food establishments, green open spaces and it's amazing cathedral of course. Sunday afternoon was the perfect time to visit the cathedral - just seemed right, perfection in fact. The cathedral is must visit to all visitors to Lichfield. We will be back.

Last visited with mother in law "In tow" at Christmastime with several complaints about "cobbles" & "it's cold" but then the cathedral is centuries older than her 90 years so we made allowances!
