Simply stunning architecture! Could spend all day here and we are very lucky to have this wonderful cathedral on our doorstep. My parents loved it here

Joined one of the daily tours - was absolutely fascinating throughout. Our guide was interesting and very informative. Free too, although always worth a donation. Lasted about 45 mins with plenty of opportunities to sit down, if that is helpful.

Lichfield Cathedral is so beautiful. The architecture and atmosphere amazing and the history very interesting. There’s no entrance fee but the visit is well worth a donation.

Having missed out on the chance to see the illuminations at Christmas, myself and friends came to see the cathedral. It's very beautiful both inside and out. Wish we had visited sooner but we enjoyed it so much here that we are already planning to come back again.

The cathedral is an amazing building. The architecture, atmosphere and essence is wonderful. The grounds of the cathedral are easily accessible from a car park. The surrounding buildings create the perfect setting for the cathedral.

I had heard something about this unusual place. An excellent guide really helped bring it alive... imagining the building in its original colours... learning to 'read' Victorian stained glass windows, etc. One down side... I'd also heard about some very old books - the Lichfield gospels - but they were not on show here... (they are currently in London!)

I brought my mum to the cathedral at lunchtime to show her the beautiful decorations and the christmas trees. We couldn't see the trees at first because of the midday service, so we found a seat and listened as the service was relayed quietly. It was so peaceful despite people being around. Everyone waiting was quiet and respectful. In front of my mum was the most magical Christmas tree all decked out in white lights. We sat for about half an hour just soaking in the atmosphere. It was lovely and warm in there and so calm and special. Mum is 87 and she was thrilled with her experience. We are so lucky to have this magnificent building so close to us. Thanks to all who work or volunteer here.

The only Cathedral of its age with a distinctive three spires. Wonderful Gothic Architecture and complex statuary on the face of the front wall. Once inside however, this is not an austere building but surprisingly personal and welcoming. Interesting displays always and lovely peaceful side chapels for contemplation.

The outside was refurbished in Victorian times but the Cathedral retains much of its original appearance. Some of the fortifications breached during the Civil war are still in evidence. The view of the Cathedral particularly from Stowe Pool is beautiful.

Fascinating cathedral, and very important in British cultural and religious history.
Don’t miss St Chad’s Head Chapel!
Volunteers very friendly and didn’t feel pressured into giving the £3 recommended donation (but gave it willingly).

We visited Lichfield Cathedral on a Saturday afternoon, the detail of the figures on it's outside is fantastic, situated in the centre of Lichfield you can't miss it and it is well worth a visit.

If you are interested in history and in the area make sure you pay a visit. There is a car park at the bottom of the road about 100yds away. It’s a Pay and display 80p for an hour.

The Cathedral is exceptionally well preserved and is free to visit, although they recommend a £5 donation.

Interactive screens tell the history and there is an APP that you can download.

Enjoyed my first visit to this lovely cathedral. Plenty to see and keep you interested. Special exhibition on 'pilgrimages' was good. Didn't use the catering facilities on the green but looked OK.

Not a particularly attractive church on the outside but extremely interesting inside.

And a very warm welcome by the volunteers in the Church - and so much history.

We were given an information sheet on arriving but there are a lot of artefacts that there was no information about - tombs, windows, - perhaps an audio guide for a small fee would benefit the tourist and the cathedral.

Well worth a visit to the temporary exhibition about pilgrimage.

They say “You don’t know what’s on your doorstep”. This is too true. I only live 30 minutes down the road but have never got round to go before today. Boy what have I missed. This is a truly beautiful cathedral. So much to see and one of largest in the area. With Christmas just over I’m thinking “What have I missed “. It’s on the list for this years Christmas visit for sure. No words could ever do it justice. Yes the outside is dark and covered with centuries of dirt, but that just adds to the place. Inside it is breathtaking. If you’re in the area please, please go and see.

On my first trip to the UK my son and I visited his girlfriend and her family for Christmas and we made it a point to visit the Lichfield Cathedral.
While there my son dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend which only made the visit that much more special.
I was already amazed by the sheer beauty of the Cathedral with its architecture and the intricate design and this was on the outside. Now that my son was engaged we ventured inside and I was overwhelmed by what I saw inside. To put it mildly, I was speechless.
The day we werthere there were dozens of decorated Christmas trees and you voted for your favorite. Frankly, I couldn’t pick a favorite because each was beautiful in its own way.
Lichfield Cathedral will always be a special place for obvious reasons but for its sheer beauty and historical reasons I’ll make it a stop on all my return visits to the UK.
