This is a huge, and beautiful old building. Contains some relics. Learning about the history of the area and cathedral is fairly interesting. It has an interesting contrast of traditional and modern adaption. A hidden giant gem in quiet Lichfield.

The cathedral is set in an attractive precinct, surrounded by interesting pedestrianised streets, with easy parking, good local shops and plenty of places to eat. The building is austere outside, except for the wonderful frontage and the 3 famous spires. Inside there is sublime medieval architecture, a delicate screen, a wonderful early gospel, and original and replica artefacts from the local Saxon horde. There are a couple of surviving wall paintings, and a display of regimental flags in the south transept.

We had a very interesting visit last week. The whole place was amazing, the architecture, the friendly volunteer welcomes, the fact that it was free to enter, the history, so much to see and learn, well worth at least one visit. We shall be back again!

Lovely cathedral to walk around and explore. Beautiful stained glass windows. Interesting to see part of the Staffordshire hoard there. Welcoming and friendly volunteers to answer questions. We didn't seem to spend much time in there at all, but still felt like it was worth it.

A stunning cathedral with beautiful Flemish stained glass windows.
It has 3 towers the only gothic cathedral in the country to have these.
The cathedral has an interactive Staffordshire hoard exhibition,
the St Chad gospels and the Lichfield angel.
Entry is free donations are invited but no pressure is given
One bit of advice the Chapter House closes at 4 pm whilst the rest of the cathedral stays open till after the evening service

Well worth a visit

Beautiful gothic style cathedral. It is definitely worth a visit. It has three spires which is quite unique. Beautiful stained glass windows. You can also view The Chad gospels early 8th century and they have a special book tour you can attend if booked in advance.

Stunning cathedral - the vaulted ceilings seem to stretch forever into the distance. Lots to see - the beautiful stained glass windows in the Lady Chapel; the Staffordshire Hoard; the Lichfield Gospels; the Lichfield Angel, don't miss the Rummer. Was interested to hear the history of the Pedilavium, haven't seen one before. With its three spires it must surely be unique. The central spire played a part in the Civil War - a royalist sniper shot dead Lord Brooke as he was assessing the action of his Parliamentary army.

Live locally, & children sing here occasionally, but never tire of visiting. Amazing atmosphere, standing outside & looking at the symmetry & scale if the place. Family Carol services at Christmas are lovely, & the Christmas Eve Crib service is a lovely way to start Christmas.

Lichfield Cathedral welcomes visitors without making an entrance charge. Donations are of course encouraged, and we were pleased to oblige and to gift aid. The cathedral is beautifully presented and there is a real sense of pride amongst the volunteers. What a treasure house! Very knowledgeable and assured guides gave us information about the St Chad gospels, the Anglo Saxon Angel and the Herkenrode Windows which have recently been conserved. The tea room,"Chapters" is another welcoming feature.

You must visit the cathedral if you are in Lichfield. It is wonderful.
From the moment you walk in the door it is a place to admire.
Lovely friendly people to talk to you and give you an insight and such a lovely building to
enjoy.
Entry is free but donations are welcome and it is worth paying what you can afford to experience the delights of this beautiful cathedral.
Highly recommended.

I'm not a very religious person but I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. My partner and I decided to have a look inside after walking past it on many occasions before. We were very impressed by how grand everything was, from the outside in. We visited on a Sunday so the choir we're practicing inside which was lovely to hear. We walked around the whole cathedral, taking in it's history and learning more about it as we went. I would definitely recommend visiting here, even if it's just to see it's amazing architecture! Beautiful

Our friends had always told us Lichfield cathedral was worth a visit. We were not disappointed when we met up with them. I come from Liverpool and the Anglican cathedral is hard to follow, but I was just so pleasantly surprised how beautiful Lichfield is and how welcoming, warm and friendly the staff were. The cathedral is stunning, interesting and you don't have to pay on entry. However donations are welcome, and I think it is important to give as this is a loved and cared for place of worship. Thank you

Very interesting cathederal, particularly like that you are not made to feel you should pay at the door too
Small selection of items found from the staffordshire hoard were on show, although the most spectacular item ,a small jewelled cross is a copy
The people who work there are so keen to show you the interesting things, you could otherwise not see
I came away feeling as if i had met new friends after my visit
Very lovely close around the building with sweet little gift shop with unusual items
I loved lichfield

The cathedral is easy to spot due to its three spires rising above Lichfield. Both the level of detail outside the cathedral and its scale make for interesting viewing. Inside we were greeted by a friendly volunteer and given a free guide. As well as fabulous stained glass windows, you are also able to view some of the Staffordshire hoard. The shop opposite sells a wide-range of gifts including some lovely glass work by a local artist. If you are visiting Lichfield, I would highly recommend a look round the cathedral.
