An excellent trip / climb up the Tower, luckily we had a very clear day so could see for miles. Also very good guides - Margaret and Leslie, thank you. It took about 1 1/2 hours.

Just been for third visit. Still think this is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the land from the exterior carvings that festoon the walls to the stunning and recently restored main stained glass windows. Frankly no word descriptions would do this lovely building justice. There are bigger and more famous, but please if you are in the area do make a detour and soak up the sheer perfection of this lovely cathedral. Just a couple of minutes walk from Lichfield town centre, which in itself is pleasant (given many town centres look the same these days).

Free entry wonderful staff who know their stuff and a place to find peace if you need somewhere to think! They are under going some work but that did not spoil it! In fact they were doing sound checks and whoever the organist is they gave a wonderful performance of bits and pieces of music! Glad I went today! Gift shop and cafe across the road both reasonable prices!

An amazing building.

Friendly staff who are very knowledgable.

The cathedral is free to enter but you are asked for a donation. Once you have looked around you will have no hesitation but to donate. An inspiring building.

Magnificent in every respect - the "Ladies of the Vale" (Vale of Lichfield) refers to the cathedral's three beautiful spires.
Entry is free of charge except for voluntary donation. Friendly and knowledgable volunteers are on hand to answer any questions not covered in the free guide.
Amazing windows, some recently removed and cleaned, and a touching memorial to the now-disbanded South Staffs Regiment, along with First World War poems and memorabilia..
The cathedral's treasures include fabulous Spode and Wedgwood urns, and gospels dating from the 7th century. The Chapter House holds an exhibition and information about the Staffordshire Hoard.
It's easy to spend an hour exploring this fine building, under the beign gaze of its patron, St Chad.

Although constructed of dark hued Staffordshire sandstone, this magnificent building seems light and illuminated and almost floats above the city on its elevated site. There are many corners, alcoves and plaques throughout, many marking not ecclesiastical but social and military history. Well worth a visit in its own right, Lichfield offers so many more historical and cultural attractions as well as being just a delightful city to experience.

Architecture for the Cathedral is amazing considering the damage from the English Civil War in the 1640s and the other renovations over time. The numerous statues on the front entrance are astonishing. Quite worth a visit.

The cathedral is amazing - the recent reinstallation of the stain glassed windows makes any visit even more worthwhile. Everytime I visit I find something new. Next trip - up the spires!

The cathedral is well worth a visit if you're in Lichfield. It's the only one in England with three spires and is awe-inspiring. I'm not particularly religious, but the scale and history of the building is fascinating. They also do an "angel hunt" leaflet for small children, which helps to keep them occupied and interested - and helped me to notice more! The whole town is beautiful, and the tea rooms just across from the cathedral were very good too. Will remember this day for a long time

We went to Litchfield Cathedral in June it was a beautiful summers day, the Cathedral is magnificent. As you wonder round you get sense of the history that has taken place there, we spoke to one of the canons at cathedral. He told us that during the civil war the cathedral was shelled from a public house not far where we stood and at that time the cathedral had a moat. As you gaze up at the spires you can see the third spire is not quite as old as the front, he went to say there had been a lot of bloodshed within the grounds during that time. The masonry work is truly beautiful and well worth a wonder round.

I think this Cathedral is very underrated-ok lots of heavy handed Victorian restorations are in evidence but its still quite a stunning building- the three spires certainly make it stand out but the interior is atmospheric and during our visit the west door was open allowing more light to enter. I was also impressed with a warm welcome and very discrete requests for donations-not at all in your face which you often find- well worth a visit

Besides Samuel Johnson's and Erasmus Darwin's houses, this is LIchfield's main attraction. The cathedral has three spires rather than the usual two, and is quite a large structure. No admission fee, but donations are requested.

Lichfield Cathedral is a building that has seen it all. It is a beautiful structure inside and out and a testament to the medieval stone mason's craft and artistry. We are lucky that such structures still stand today. Inside it exudes the peace and calm that a house of prayer should. Close your eyes and revel in the atmosphere of sound. Open your eyes and revel in the beauty of stone and stained glass. Medieval structure meets modern technology with a nave altar platform that rises and lowers as the dictates of the day direct. Cathedrals are living spaces, cared for by dedicated servants and there are none more dedicated that Lichfield Cathedral's vergers. Don't just visit, experience. Stay for a Choral Evensong or attend a Sunday Eucharist. Lichfield's clergy are exemplary servants of the Lord. Personable, inviting, prayerful individuals bringing liturgy to life. Its choir is top notch as well, but wasn't in residence during my stay as they were on summer holiday. Instead, Lichfield Cathedral welcomes visiting choirs from around the world to substitute during holiday breaks. It was my pleasure to serve in such a capacity for a week in July 2014. Being in the cathedral for 8 days straight made me feel like part of the fabric and life of the space. What a wonderful experience! When you're in the Staffordshire region, you simply must take a day to explore the cathedral. Do it slowly. Let the presence of the past enter your soul. The moment you enter the West doors you will know you are in a special place.

This beautiful cathedral is well worth a visit, it is lovely inside and out. The detail within this building must be seen. There are a number of very famous people buried within it. Also a young hero called Stephen Sutton's ferneral service was held here
