The staff are friendy and engaging, and allow you complete access with your camera to every beautiful feature in this historic cathedral. Should be of particular interest to those who admire the Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, and important English Civil War battles.

The 3 spires are impressive and can be seen from around the city. It's a smaller cathedral than many and the stone stemmed softer making it feel warmer. Nice to walk around cathedral close.

I believe that Lichfield Cathedral is the only medieval cathedral to have 3 spires. The cathedral is beautiful inside and has an impressive Rose Window. On special days tours are available to tread the steps to the top of the tower to see a magnificent panorama of the surrounding countryside. In winter months candle lit tours are organised. The cathedral is set in an attractive Close and is adjacent to the City Centre.

A friend from London asked what is there to see in Lichfield? My answer: The only mediæval cathedral with three spires, the shrine of St Chad and a wonderful place of spirituality. Look out for the magnificent Lichfield Gospels and the 'Lichfield Angel.' Next year the superb Herckenrode glass returns from its multi-million pound restoration, so enjoy the Lady Chapel while it is still bathed in pure white light.

You just have to see it! Still cannot understand how people in the 13th century could build such a beaty!

A stunningly beautiful building that took 130 years to build. The interior is adorned with magnificent stained glass windows, the beautiful sculpture of "the sleeping children" and ancient paintings in the lady chapel. Also, the priceless Lichfield Gospels manuscript. These are just a few of the wonderful things a visitor can marvel at in this, arguably the finest situated cathedral in England.

I have been going to the cathedral since I was a little girl. It's easy to take it for granted when you live locally but it really is a special place. If you can, try to coincide your visit with the Lichfield festival in July and catch a recital.

It's worth exploring the immediate area, especially the herb garden (between Darwin House and the Cathedral Close).

The cathedral itself it surrounded by a selection of beautiful historical buildings. The view from the front is quite impressive. Enjoyed the angel trail and other information leaflets which provided items for children to 'find' whilst inside the cathedral.

If you like history you will love Litchfield Cathedral, which has been in existence 1300 years. It is the only Cathedral in England that has 3 spires and the front entrance is decorated with many statues of English Kings, Saints, Angels and bishops. Set in a quiet close of ancients buildings.
Both the exterior and interior is breath taking - inside the vaulted ceilings are some of the best I've seen with beautiful sainted class windows and historic tiled floors. A Jewel in central England. Currently items from Staffordshire Saxon hoard are on display. In the Close outside there is a gift shop and also a coffee shop and there are several car parks near by and a disabled one by the Cathedral.

both the outside and inside of the Cathedral is stunning with so much attention to the detail on all the carvings. A must see if you are in the area.

Unusually now for Cathedrals entry is free. Do take time to see St Chad's Gospel and to climb the stairs to the little chapel set aside for private prayer.
The whole building is well worth an hours of your time.

very beautiful cathedral indeed. The staff were very helpful too. It is "free " to enter, though a donation is expected. Very enjoyable though.

A beautiful building. So much to see. Regardless of ones religious convictions it is a must to see because of its architectural beauty. Not only that but the atmosphere is such that it can almost be physically felt.

I visited Lincoln Cathedral with friends. This beautiful building is located in a pleasant 'Close' with a Shop, Café and Erasmus Darwin's (Separate Attraction) dotted about in different buildings. Before entering the Cathedral do take note of the fantastic statues above the entrance of the Kings of England!
Inside, a warm welcome awaits with one of the Stewards who promptly greeted us and gave us information about the main sights to see around the building. Like most Cathedrals, it is important to look in all directions to see the various carvings, statues and decorations. Lichfield is famous for being home to the Staffordshire Hoard but, at the time of visiting, it was not on show as additional research was being done on it. Their is also a two-tiered chapterhouse with Library tours available at certain times of the year on the second floor. It's a shame that Lichfield has no Tower Tour at present but I was informed that this may be re-introduced at some point.
For a free attraction, Lichfield Cathedral is a must if you happen to be visiting the area. The Cathedral Coffee Shop is also worth a quick stop for some nice cake and a drink to!
