Truly beautiful, a must if you visit Lichfield. Nice to see a cathedral that is free to visit and only asks for a donation.

Just back from a day out around Lichfield, first stop was this beautiful cathedral must see! plenty of history here, some of the Staffordshire hoard is here too a very friendly knowledgeable man was there to talk to you about it plenty of interesting things to see and read about in the cathedral, staff were friendly and the shop inside had far too many things I wanted to buy which I didn't expect so I managed to purchase a few things! Would definatly return.

This is the only english cathedral with 3 spires. The Gothic Cathedral was started in 1195 to replaced a Norman one. It was finish about 1330. But was under sidge 3 time in the english civil war. The Cathedral was severe damaged. Charles the 2nd gave funds to restore the cathedral. It's about 30 mins from Birmingham. I think it is a must see.

Lichfield cathedral is awe inspiring, There is lots of information inside explaining about the Cathedral. Seeing St Chad's Gospel was beyond fantastic, to think that something that beautiful has survived for over 1300 years, it was really humbling. There was a small exhibition of treasures from the Saxon Hoard - absolutely breath taking. Would definitely recommend to see, The outside of the Cathedral is even more wonderful than the inside, with statues of all the English Kings upto the date it was built and various saints and bishops. Absolutely remarkable. There is no fee to pay but a donation is appreciated.

Central. Brilliant architecture. Fantastic history. A large cathedral with lots of interesting features. No entrance fees but voluntary contributions welcomed to help with the upkeep.

Truly worth a visit - this cathedral seems to get bypassed but it is an awe-inspiring building both inside and out. Easily accessible with good road a rail connections. Lichfield is a very compact
and pedestrian friendly with architectural gems to complement your visit.

There is still no charge to enter the cathedral, though a donation is obviously more than appreciated. All the guides within the Cathedral are trained volunteers, if you choose to use a guide rather than walk around on your own.
Allow yourself plenty of time for your visit, it isn't a place that you can rush around. You will find that the peace of the building gets into your system whther you are a believer or not.

Make sure you visit when the chapter house is open as it contains most of the treasures. The cathedral is quite different from the great Norman cathedrals and all the more interesting because of this. It has been heavily restored by Gilbert Scott.

We were greeted on arrival and suggested to us where to start our tour to see things in the best way. we were given a leflet to explain everything. A place full of interest.

Took some friends here who had not been to the Cathedral before, and they loved it. Great calm and atmosphere. One of the oldest Cathedrals in the area and it used to cover a large diocese. Beautiful arches and don't forget to visit the Chapter Hall room. Regards Gary Saunders

Lichfield Cathedral is a must-visit if you are in the area. Beautiful building with so much to take in and very friendly, enthusiastic volunteers. It is a very special place.

We love all of Lichfield - a hidden gem, and the cathedral is central to this. A relatively small cathedral close but only a short walk to river, Civil War information, Samuel Johnson museum and nice shops.

An absolute must. Beautiful building rich in history, all of the staff/volunteers were incredible helpful and on hand for interesting facts. Highly recommended!

A beautiful building in beautiful surroundings overlooking Minster Pool. I've made the trip there several times as I live not too far away and it always more than repays the effort.

We arrived here in heavy rain, but (paid) parking is close by. I felt cheered as soon as I entered the Cathedral, a huge, imposing building. The staff were very helpful. We attended sung evensong, Anglicanism at its best.
Afterwards we were able to visit the pleasant Close, and admire the marvellous Cathedral and its three spires from outside. We also enjoyed Erasmus Darwin's herb garden near by.

I've driven down the M6 and Midland Expressway on numerous occasions, but took time out take a look at Lichfield Cathedral following a visit to the nearby Memorial Arboretum. The Cathedral is well worth a visit, as is Lichfiled, a hidden gem

I recommend a visit to Lichfield, Staffordshire to take in the beauty and splendour of the Cathedral with three spires called The Ladies of the Vale. It is essential to get booked in on a guided tour to ensure that every aspect of the history is covered. Whilst in Lichfield City leave time also for visits to the Samuel Johnson Birthplace and also the Erasmus Darwin Museum.

As a local I have to admit to being slightly biased but I believe Lichfield Cathedral bears comparison with any of the country's other great Cathedrals.
As others have commented the Cathedral is a superb example of gothic architecture and features three spires which can be seen for miles around. The cathedral is set within cathedral close and it is worth a walk around the close to see the other beautiful buildings associated with the Cathedral.

Also because Lichfield Cathedral is not particularly high on the tourist trail it still feels like a cathedral and not some kind of museum.
