Wonderful place. Very touching and emotional. Need half a day at least to fully explore the grounds and read the memorials.
The restaurant staff were particularly pleasant.

Prior to our visit we checked the website for the National Memorial Arboretum and discovered that we needed to book the parking to help them cope with visitor numbers. It was an easy process and inexpensive.

On arrival a helpful staff member explained where we needed to park and we headed off to reception and received a mini guide to help us find our way around.

We started off in the cafe and got our bearings over a coffee.

If you want to take everything in you really need all day as it is a huge site, there is a lot of ground to cover and plenty to see and photograph.

We spent the morning exploring the various memorials for the different regiments and then decided to stop for lunch back at the restaurant. There was an excellent choice of hot and cold food. We also found the staff friendly and the food prices reasonable.

During the afternoon we walked down along the river and saw so much wildlife that has made the arboretum it’s home.

We finished up with a look around the indoor displays and then the shop before heading home.

Well worth a visit and a humbling memorial to all those who gave their lives for our freedom.

We travelled to the Arboretum at the invitation of the Royal British Legion. Ever since it opened we had meant to go, but had never set aside the time. After a morning of RBL activity they gave us the opportunity to tour the site on the Land Train. This takes about an hour and gives you an overview of the site and what is out there to visit.

We rapidly came to the conclusion that a day would not be enough to really get to grips with the Arboretum. Two days would be our estimate of a full visit. That said if you have no connection with the UK Armed Forces or emergency services then a few hours would probably do the trick. It is astonishing how many different memorials have been put up since the Arboretum opened. The site is still expanding as Tarmac extract quarry materials and then hand over land to the Arboretum to expand. The atmosphere is very peaceful and moving. You cannot help but feel moved by the site and the memorials, both organisational and personal.

The facilities are second to none. Toilets are spread around the site and the central hall has a restaurant. For those looking for a conference venue the conference centre is superbly equipped and the catering is excellent.

This is a must visit site for anyone with an ounce of humanity.

This was our first visit. We didn’t know quite what to expect but I suppose we anticipated that the site would be mainly a war memorial. In fact there is much more to the site than this. The Armed Forces Memorial is the biggest memorial and is very impressive. But there are over 400 memorials located across a large site. Some of the memorials are for civilian organisations, which we hadn’t expected.
The NMA can be quite busy but the site is large enough so that you can find peace and quiet and an opportunity to be alone with your thoughts. There are some nice woodland walks and the area beside the river Tame is very peaceful.
The site is well laid out and the visitor reception has all the facilities you would expect including a restaurant and exhibition spaces.
When a war memorial becomes a visitor attraction this left us with a slightly uneasy feeling but I think we have to live with this. If anything the NMA is a victim of its own success.

Immensely thought provoking. Lovely place, free to roam around at your own pace with hundreds of memorials of different sizes / shapes - formal memorials as well as trees planted.
A must for anyone in the area.

Attended here with my unit a few years ago when I was still serving. Visited again with my family recently and they loved it. The place is incredible and so well kept. Always a very moving, humbling and also enjoyable experience visiting the Arboretum. Even if you have not got any connections to the Military I would thoroughly recommend going.💂‍♂️🙏
