Just walked out of the theatre this afternoon during a showing of the film Manchester by the Sea. What an obscene film, the language was appalling and the sound was so loud it made our ears ring. Bad choice of film Quay management, I can't believe we were the only patrons to walk out. We usually love the selection of performances whether plays, ballets or whatever but this in our opinion was a mistake.

This community based theatre is small in size, a little over 100 seats but big on atmosphere and with it's staff of volunteers is very customer focused, it presents some wonderful productions with appeal across all ages and tastes, including live streaming of opera and ballet from Covent Garden. With very recent films showing some afternoons it is a haven for seniors and the disabled on a winters day, or any other time really.
It has a reasonably priced bar with a very good selection of wines, beers and spirits, there is also a wonderful dining experience from a "pop up restaurant" available for some performances, check first. Where else can you watch live opera from Covent Garden and be home with a glass of wine well before the audience have managed to find a taxi

A thoroughly entertaining and fun filled evening.

The theatre is very intimate and even though I was in the back row I felt totally engaged with the performance.

Very comfortable seats and lots of leg room which is a bonus when you're 6ft 4!

Nice to have your pre ordered drinks available at the interval, and a lovely touch at the end with the cast lined up in the hallway chatting to theatre goers as they left.

Will return :)

37 cub scouts and leaders on our annual trip to the pantomime . It's a great way to end our term at our lovely local theatre .
Yes it's a bit corny but the kids love it and it's great fun .
Really must visit during the year .

This is a great Theatre set in a lovely quayside location. The Quay puts on a wide variety of entertainment and shows ranging from comedy, musicals, drama and film. I particularly enjoyed the first Quay Film Festival in June which screened some great new feature films and had a good programme of shorts. There is also a wonderful bar to enjoy an after show drink in.

Very small, wonderful view to get close up to the act on stage. I understand food is served Friday's & Saturday and I'm told is excellent.

Small but more than made up for by the productions, films, comedy and music nights and recently, screenings of west end plays, opera and ballet. Lovely front of house staff (mostly volunteers). Highly recommended. A real 'gem' in the heart of our lovely town.

We went to see the pantomime at the Quay, such a cute theatre. The staff on the front of house were very welcoming and friendly. The show itself was great, the kids loved it.
The only negative was that the theatre was quite cold and we all sat in our coats and scarfs.

Will definitely be booking for next years show.

Great little venue that's been going for donkeys years. Saw a panto here recently and it was as lovely as I remember from when my parents used to bring me here as a kid. Fab building on a quay by the river, it has a well stocked bar, some snacks, friendly staff, lots of parking and puts on a variety of performances, music and films. Will definitely look to come again soon.

Do visit the Quay. There is plenty of free parking, a warm and inviting foyer with friendly receptionist. Go upstairs to a cosy bar for pre-theatre and interval drinks or coffee.
The theatre has about 120 seats so is intimate and atmospheric. Never so far back that you cannot see. The temperature was good, perhaps a bit hot. Seats alongside the aisle are preferable but any seat would be OK. My friends and I saw Gaslight recently and the tickets were a mere £9 each. We all thoroughly enjoyed the play and thought the actors were excellent. We sat towards the back and the sound was perfect.
Sudbury is so fortunate to have The Quay Theatre, and I am sure you would enjoy a vist. Booking online is very easy and I am sure your support would be appreciated.
