Popped in here for breakfast and booked a table in advance, good job we did as it was very busy.

The service was great and we all enjoyed the food we ordered.

Very good value for money.

There is a nice atmosphere in The Secret Garden and the food is all made on the premises so it is fresh and tasty.
I usually go for tea/coffee and scones which are nice but not the biggest I have come across. The home-made jam is excellent. Tea is served in a pot, but coffee in cups that are a bit small. If weather permits, it is pleasant to sit in the garden. The service is quite efficient but a bit impersonal. No friendly greeting or farewell. Overall a fairly good experience.

Pleasant atmosphere for lunch on a dull & damp day in September. Good veggie choice & the sweet potato, carrot & ginger soup was delicious as was the vegetable foccaca enjoyed by my daughter. Friendly service & would certain visit again when in area.

A wonderful place to retreat to after shopping in Sudbury. Diverse menu and wines or just if you want a cup of coffee and a cake. Best on a sunny day when you can enjoy the small and scented garden.

We've tried the evening meals here now many times, but last week may have been the best dinner we've had there. Great value, really friendly staff and the meal, as always was excellent
Thanks again

A favourite of our local friends.
A return visit exceeding expectations. Classic French Cuisine and a fine selection of wines. Served by staff their know their menu and a chef who gets the most from his ingredients in unfussy classic dishes.
If your unlucky to be too early for dinner, take a coffee and cake in the peaceful hidden garden behind the restaurant. You will go back for more.

Popped in to the secret garden for a coffee today, on seeing the menu we both decided to have a fruit scone with jam and clotted cream. The food was exceptionally fresh and of good quality. The staff were polite and helpful will definitely return when in town again.
The coffee was good too!

Whilst our experience here was very good it fell short of 5 stars. To be honest we were slightly disappointed that the menu did not have more of a French bias but as a first visit it will not put us off returning to sample more of the cuisine when we hope to give it a higher ranking. NB the evening service is only on Friday and Saturday

Desperate for a cup of tea and cake, we arrived in Sudbury on a grey afternoon. The town was very quiet and we feared it may have been early closing day! Not having seen anything suitable on the high St I checked trip advisor and went in search of The Secret Garden. Its down a quiet side street and not immediately obvious. The staff were occupying a table having a break, but did get up to greet us and take our order. The fruit cake is Amazing! Dark and spicy like wedding cake without the icing and worth the drive from London alone! Well done. Will definitely return if in the area again at lunch time as the menu looked lovely.

I love the secret garden, they serve the most amazing food and always have really good vegetarian choices. Food is really fresh, tasty and always cooked to perfection. Have been for lunch and breakfast, have not managed to try the evening meals yet, must do so soon. The garden is delightful in summer.

A great place to go when you can sit outside in their lovely garden. Food was fresh and very good, they also had good coffee! Went because of the reviews on here and wasn't disappointed at all. Will be back.

No mass produced boil in the bag rubbish. Freshly prepared, well presented French dishes (the owner/cook is French). Good informal atmosphere and friendly service.

Fantastic food and ambience. Quite the ticket if you are looking for an essence of France in Suffolk.

A bit pricey but the food is very good. Seems to be popular. French style cuisine. Pleasant surroundings, bit squashed as a small place. There is, of course, a garden. I went at lunch time but they do a couple of evening sittings too (best to book). Also do some other activities - art lessons etc. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely time at the Secret Garden in Sudbury on Friday night with the ladies from work, not a huge menu, however the food was fab, service excellent and will be returning

We came to Sudbury on a day out to visit the Gainsborough House. I found the this restaurant on TripAdvisor & we had a very good lunch with friendly service, modestly priced. Everyone we spoke to in Sudbury seemed to know & like the restaurant. It is very small so I'd advise booking at the weekend. I wish we lived nearer!

We had a family meal on a Saturday evening. The Secret Garden is small and there were only two other tables available. The spring menu was limited, but the food was absolutely first class and cooked to perfection. We all agreed that we chose items that perhaps we would not necessarily have had if there had been more choice, but we could not fault the first class cuisine. We will certainly visit again for the unusual and delicious food, and the bill was most agreeable for the special meals that we enjoyed.

We were given a friendly welcome on arrival , fantastic choice of hot beverages which may seem a bit overpriced at first but then when it comes you get around three cups of tea per pot . I had a Smoked mackerel mousse on toasted sourdough which was amazing , followed by a nougat and ginger ice cream topped with a rhubarb compote which was perfect . I would recommend this to anyone who would like a nice lunch .

A rare gem , simplicity of menu , fantastic flavours , great wine , and all wrapped up in warm French charm . No pretentiousness just a great bistro to be cherished ,especially for the price of a meal !

Food presented well, fell down on taste and quality. The place felt more tea room than restaurant. I didn't like my meal they were good enough not to charge me. I don't think I will be going back.

We were holidaying in the area and were recommended to either eat there in the evening or try some smashing coffee and cake with a pleasing ambience. It came up trumps and I think it was the best coffee we had whilst staying in the area. The evening menu was inviting but we were unable to stay and sample it.

Good coffee. Busy cafe. Friendly staff. Nice paintings on the walls.
Expensive, but better than most cafes in Sudbury.
