Good little museum with a good range of exhibitions from different times. Just right for young children. One of the only things to do in the area on a wet day. Being free makes it even better.

Great free family fun. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful with any questions. Plenty of activities for children. A lovely cafe selling freshly made food. When you've finished with your visit there is a nice little museum shop selling lots of lovely things.

We have been to many castles and many museums but never a museum in a castle. A brilliant day and the kids loved the "silly selfish" bags and the reflection room. Awesome

A nice welcome and a grand courtyard are the start of a special experience at this museum , there is lots to explore covering z massive rainger of subjects . Especially good for kids with interactive displays and tours to do . Disabled access is good and my grandparents found the going easy. Highly recommend a visit ..

They put on quite a few child friendly events which are free or pretty cheap. Enough for a couple of hours and kids seem to like them. Not too busy.

Very interesting, but the event that was on for a sensory room for children wasn't brilliant but did not cost much so kind of evens it out

A great place. Well worth a visit.

Lots of stuff to see and you need a minimum of an hour to do it justice.

Probably not best for the under fours.

Small but wonderful museum set in a restored castle right in the centre of town, showing the history of the local area. Roman mosaic, objects and artefacts through time, plus photographs, a temporary exhibition programme, shop and lovely cafe with a sunny courtyard to relax in. Helpful staff who know even more about local history if you ask them.
