Visited with as a party of 5 on a Saturday night booked table in advance as knew it would be busy. This is my 3 rd visit and it was just as good as before food was excellent all home cooked no freeze dried rubbish here. The steak and ale pie is to die for and my husband always enjoys the good selection of old ales on tap. I would definitely recommend the ivy house.

A lovely place with a big carpark and garden for the summer time. When you enter it looks quite small..but then you go down the few steps into the restaurant its quaint and seats about 50. The waiting staff have lovely smiles, (but are very busy) and cater for everything you need. The food portions are plentyfull and their hand cut chips are great...we both had fish, and shared a portion of onion rings..then we had a desert..cheesecake and apple pie, all fab. Bar staff arr very friendly too.
My only criticism would be, I think they could have a few more mains on the menu. We would deffinately go again..Thank you for a nice evening.

Popped after visiting someone in the home close to the pub. A warm welcome from the moment we went in, barman was pleasant, the beer just right. Then decided to eat, asked if there was any tables & was promptly shown to a table by a young lady. The food was as good as it gets, wife had pulled beef, which she is still going on about, everything was perfect for her, I had the lasagne with garlic bread, chips & salad everything again cooked to perfection, followed by profiteroles for both. Excellent value, excellent food & excellent service. Might even visit the mother in law again at this rate!!

The Coniston Centre would like to say a big thank you to you Hilary, Martin and all the staff at The Ivy House for providing Christmas lunch outings for our Service Users and their relatives. The food was superb, hot and most of all homemade by Martin himself, whilst catering for the varying dietary requirements of our Service Users. Everybody had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We will definitely be recommending you to others and be visiting again soon!

My daughter and nieces surprised me with a birthday meal here in December last year. It was a great night with the food, the staff and general family atmosphere being excellent. Such did my mother enjoy it,that we re-booked for her birthday in March this year and if anything, the night surpassed the afore-mentioned. Cannot speak highly enough of this place. Will be hoping to book another birthday for June 2016!

Ive passed this pub so many times and always wondered what it was like. Me and the misses decided to use it for "date night" and definitely wasnt disappointed.
I had the steak special and my better half the gammon and it was lovely. The portion sizes were above the norm which was great, and the beer was fantastic. As an avid real ale fan I was pleasantly surprised on the selection.
Definitely worth a try

We were out for a Friday evening drive and decided to eat out, I've been here before, with work colleagues, but my wife hadn't. After perusing the menu, a very difficult decision had to be made, we both went for the Shoulder of lamb. The lamb did not die in vain. A wonderful meal, delightfully pleasant staff, and excellent value for money.

we booked a buffet to follow a funeral. The food was excellent as everything was freshly prepared and presented. The quiches were very tasty. The and coffee were provided. The staff were friendly and we were looked after very well.
Although we didn't make use of the garden, this area was beautifully laid out and would be safe for children to play

This is a pub with two small bar areas on different levels which has had its former small restaurant area converted into a third seating area and a large (plain and characterless) extension added on the back. For me this spoiled the pub but you can see why they did it - to squeeze several rows of tables in and increase the restaurant turnover. There is still the unspoiled bar areas and a very nice beer garden looking out across open fields. They serve food to bench tables in the beer garden. The food is better than the usual chain pubs and the lunch menu is very reasonable although the evening menu is a bit more pricey. It's a Banks' pub and so you do have a couple of optional real ale guest beers. Watch out for the poetic phrases and sayings painted onto the fence panels in the garden.

All of our family have visited this establishment on many occasions and have always enjoyed the atmosphere here. The staff are always helpful and friendly and I like the decor. I suppose if you like noisy trendy pubs then this is not the place to go but I know which I would prefer, a better clientele. The food is always of a fine presentation and I have never had any hygiene problems. I have visited for over 15 years and will continue.

A nice old pub with nooks and crannies but with a restaurant area that overlooks long, green fields. The evening menu offers a reasonable variety, from belly pork to spaghetti with meatballs, both of which were very tasty and came in ample proportions for less than £10 each. The service was excellent and the cask beers well kept. Will certainly visit again

Slightly lacklustre frontage, but don't let that put you off! The Ivy House is a homely, traditional venue with good, hearty food. A small menu, with something for everyone. I really like the bar area with its little nooks and crannies, but it could do with a little bit of an update and refresh to compete with other venues in the area, but I could be wrong? This could be the reason why I like Ivy House - it's charming characteristics perhaps its the wonky floor and olde worlde beams which sets it apart from its sterile counterparts?
Anyway, give Ivy House a chance! The food is lovely, home cooked, hot and good value. I will definitely be returning there!

Myself and two friends sat in the small bar and ate a very good lunch time/late afternoon meal. The barman was friendly and helpful from the off, and the meals were served very quickly after ordering. We had two lasagne and a pork chop meal, and they were all brought to the table nicely presented and steaming hot. I had my eye on an apple and custard desert from the start, and it didn't disappoint. Lashings of custard too.
Good quality, reasonable prices, friendly service.
I would use The Ivy House again.

Visited recently with friends for a Saturday night catch up. Atmosphere, staff and food choice and quality all good. When eating they will also take your drinks order, serve at the table and add to your bill so more of a restaurant feel than a pub with food. Would definately recommend and will be returning with our own family.
