Just returned from The Ivy house.Had sirloin steak, cooked to perfection in charming old world surroundings. It was outstanding....the best in the area by far, I recently ate at The malt and it is mediocre in comparison.I have lived in the area for 18 years and have only ever popped in for a drink, some time ago. There is a good, reasonably priced menu ,served up by pleasant staff.......Excellent!

Stopped here today for lunch today with my mom and my children staff were nice and friendly nice quite relaxing atmosphere. I had cajun chicken which was freshly cooked a little bit over seasoned for my taste however nice and fresh the rest of the meal was nice too. Mom had the gammon which she said was good my son had the garlic cheese bread which he rated good nice pub

Visited the restaurant part of this establishment 30th Sept 2016 it was reasonably quiet but welcoming with friendly helpful staff we were shown to a table which we reserved and were offered drinks, we ordered our food but waited what seemed an age probably because we were quite hungry it always seems a long wait when you are hungry , anyway food was awesome Steak & Ale Pie, and a Pork Stack Hand cut chips, presumably different to using a machine to cut them Lol... Onion rings & Mushrooms as side orders all delicious and could not fault any of it , good generous meals that left you full to bursting, there was a pleasent ambience in the restaurant with mood music in the background, all in all a nice evening out and would highly recommend and frequent again .

It doesn't look much from the outside but it is very cosy inside. We arrived for lunch about 12.15 and it was quiet when we went in but it soon filled up. We ordered tea and coffee and browsed the menu. After a few minutes the waitress was back to take our order and we didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive which was delicious. Because they had got very busy and only two waitresses and also different rooms to serve in we had to wait a long while before ordering another drink and a pudding but otherwise we found it very good.

A real treat, found it by following the Ale Trail and it is well worth a visit. Outdoor seating with views that look across fields for miles. Old fashioned real pub with a good range of drinks. They offer a Menu that offers everything from sandwiches to A la Carte, plus a Sunday Lunch and Afternoon Tea. Friendly staff and ample parking available

While the menu has changed my favourite pulled beef dish is no longer there the food is of excellent quality and well presented. Friendly staff always willing to help. More importantly good choice of cask ales which is something that a lot of the chain pubs fail on.
If you want somewhere for a nice peaceful evening out this is the place to go.

Run by Hilary & Martin Creegan, this is currently the 2nd best pub in the Cannock Area according to the certificate.
It was first listed as an Ale House in 1824, this pub has won local CAMRA branch Pub Of The Year four times.
During the summer months it has afternoon teas for £12 per person, they looked very appetizing as they went past us. Served 2.30-4pm.
There is a small selection of books to peruse & a lovely big collection traditional mainly wooden pub games such as shut the Box, solitaire, Tiddly winks, Connect 4, (in ball format) etc, providing hours of fun, plus crib, cards & pinball.
5 real ales.
Lunch served 12-5pm.
Only 1 veggie option on menu, mushroom risotto, tasted nice, colour too plain as no other veg in it.
The Lamb shank off the special’s board was very welcomed.
The lemon, ginger & blueberry tart with ice cream was exceptionally wonderful.
Plenty of nooks & crannies to sit & relax in over this split level multi roomed pub.
Lovely big beer garden.
2 ladies toilet by front bar area.
TV was off in back bar.
Pub part of the 15 pubs in the Cannock Real Ale Summer Trail.
Opens 12-11pm each day.

Ate here after looking for a country pub with home cooked food and we were not disappointed. The steak and ale pie was delicious and my hubby said the handcut chips are the best he has ever tasted. The portion sizes are good and the real ales topped it all off. The friendly staff and pleasant surroundings all completed the experience of a relaxed and enjoyable meal. We will definitely be going again.

Ate from the lunchtime menu which has slightly smaller portions than the a la carte menu but priced accordingly. However for a lunch there is ample to fill you up and excellent quality real home cooked food , not microwaved frozen food! good selection of drinks good pricing and wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend a visit.

Went here on recommendation of friend and we were not disappointed.
My friend had Beef Bourignon and I had Morrocan lamb and both were very generous portions and served hot and not tepid like some restaurants.
Hillary the lAndlady came over to talk to us to tell us of her meeting with Alan Titmarsh who visited the pub when visiting one of the gardens in the area.
I very traditional old fashioned pub with a lovely warm atmosphere from pleasant staff.
Well done you I will be returning

Would highly recommend when looking for great quality food in lovely location. Lovely views from the restaurant.

To sum up the ivy house in one word 'excellent', me and my wife are quite local so we go often, and we have not yet been disappointed, the pub has a nice old world feel to it, the staff are very friendly and helpful, they cant do enough for you, and the food is fantastic, this is the food that should be described as home cooking like your grandmother used to make, those meals your remember from your childhood, the food at the Ivy is cooked to perfection, its tasty, it is great, I cant praise it enough, and its also a very peaceful friendly atmosphere, and the prices are very very reasonable, my words cant do justice, but do yourself a favour and get down to the Ivy house and be pleasantly surprised.

From start to finish all was good. A friendly welcome to begin. Especially the young man looking out for visitors in the torrential rain and directing them to the only entrance at the back not needing waders! Excellent starters of smokies and home made pate. The Jack Rabbit wine is one of the better "plonks" and reasonably priced. I particularly like the shiraz but the sauv. blanc was good too. Mains of shoulder of lamb and belly pork were both ample and good eating. It was a bit noisy at times as there is a low ceiling and little soft furnishing but never out of hand. Just made a happy atmosphere. Well worth a 5. We'll be back.

The Ivy House is amazing. A nice quirky pub serving lovely home cooked food. The staff are also all very lovely, this was all to apparent on our visit bank holiday Monday.
My partner and I decided to visit the Ivy House for a bank holiday treat. We were seated in the restaurant part of the pub which had some lovely views of the countryside. While waiting for our food an elderly lady who was also dining was taken very ill and an ambulance was called. Without going into too much detail the staff made a real effort at helping the lady, especially Martin (I think his name was) who from what I can gather was the chef. Once the elderly woman was taken care of and our food arrived we received massive apologies for the wait, which really wasn't necessary considering the events!
When the food came it was a medley of melt in the mouth goodness and all very reasonably priced, I would not hesitate to visit this lovely place again!
Thank you

Passed this pub/restraurant many times over the years and decided to give it a try. We went on a Tuesday early eavening. Cosy and welcoming inside. We both ordered the mixed veg soup to start, it was delicious. For the mains I ordered the pulled beef, it melted in the mouth, the mash potato was lovely and creamy. My other half had the steak and ale pie, he said it was tasty and the hand cooked chips were perfect. We shall visit again soon.

Have eaten here 4 or 5 times now and always had and enjoyable time. Food is always lovely and good portion size. Staff friendly and efficient. Prices very reasonable for the quality of food. Can highly recommend the 10 hour slow cooked pulled beef! Might be worth booking at weekends as it does get quite busy!
