We have used this pub quite a few times now. It's easy to get to on the main road up towards Cannock from Walsall, it's got a good sized car park and in the summer a garden area you can sit out in. I would certainly suggest booking if you want to go at the weekends.
On arrival we were treated by friendly and helpful staff confirmed we had booked and took u to out table, it's normal whilst eating they take your drinks order when at the table. The drinks available are varied and of a good quality if you like real ale there is always at least 3 options to pick from
The menu is varied and different from the usual chain pubs. The food is of a very good quality and very well presented, the service is prompt and polite, nothing too much for the staff. Once finished eating you can either sit and the table and enjoy a drink or move to the main bar areas all of which are in good order clean and with some character.
It's probabaly one of the best pub meals around in the area, yes it's a bit more than some but as they say you pay for what you get.

Fab selection of Sunday lunch I had country vegatable soup starter £1.75 and a roast beef main £6.95. No desert as I was too stuffed. Don't let the low prices put you off this is great British dining at its best. very tasty food nothing bland on my plate. Booking is recommended as Sunday seems to be very busy. A new weekley menu is starting this week and will definitely be back to try out the new food..

Great food, great atmosphere, would recommend. Portions could just be a bit bigger, but other than that one thing, excellent place.

This is a very cosy and comfortable pub with a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is well laid out and has a lovely view over fields and farmland. The food is freshly cooked and well presented with a varied menu. At lunch time you can chose from the lunch or a l carte menus, both of which are very good value for money. I've eaten here several times and the food is always delicious. The menu changes fairly regularly too. There is a good selection of beers and wines with regular guest ales. The service is always excellent. The ambience is great with no loud gaming machines, but has background music played just at the right level. No having to shout to make yourself heard here! It's well worth a visit to the Ivy House, you can be sure of a warm welcome in a proper traditional pub. I have one tip....if you would like to eat on a Friday or Saturday evening or go for Sunday lunch it's best to book in advance as it gets extremely busy.

This friendly pub shows us why we don't need music, tellies etc to have a good time. People congregate to share the stories of the day, to have a giggle and a gossip whilst tasting the local liquid fayre, and this pub enhances just that, it invites people in to its heart, which is of course the folk !!
Beer and staff were equal to the rustic ambiencePlease don't become a 'big pub'
STAY EXACTLY AS YOU AREThis is what travelers from all over the world come to see
(JSWinds is just blowing it, you sound grumpy and full of old tatty furniture!)

Whilst the food here is acceptable, the building itself is not. Dimly lit, full of old and tatty furniture, decorated like an 80s living room with a dining area that is so tightly packed you get bumped whenever somebody walks past.

We have lived locally to the Ivy House for many years and decided to pop in today for lunch for the first time. What have we been missing! Lovely, quaint old pub with a charming interior and warm and welcoming staff. There is a choice of lunch or a la carte menu but to be honest, price wise there is little difference, both are reasonably priced. We waited a little while for our meals but I have no problem with this, I see it as confirmation that it is freshly cooked.I ordered lasagne, and my hubby the pork chop. Both were beautifully presented, substantial portions and was obviously fresh. One tiny, tiny niggle is that the salt grinder was soggy....a few grains of rice would sort that out.Overall, delighted and so impressed. Great job Ivy House, we will be back for more.

I live only three or four miles from this pub and hadn't been until recently but loved it.
Homely, fresh and well cooked food and enough of it and the staff are very pleasant too. Back there in a couple of weeks as the have a new menu and have booked a Christmas meal too. Gary (Chef) returned recently so another plus.

Had a very enjoyable meal on a Monday lunchtime. It was quiet which may have meant faster service but I thought it was very good service and the food was really good. There is a good choice of beers, home cooked food and you look out over fields rather than buildings even though you are not far from built-up areas in Bloxwich and Walsall. It is reasonable value, not any more than anywhere else locally and at least it's not a chain pub. There's a beer garden but it was too breezy to sit outside on the day we went - it would be lovely for a meal on a warm, summer evening. I would recommend and will definitely go to The Ivy again.

After reading the reviews on hear I was just looking forward to a nice meal. The service was lovely & polite but we had such a long wait for the food to come & once got to us the meal didn't look that appetising I would say it had been over cooked & lost most of its flavour. It's said to say but it was a very disappointing meal.

After a meeting in Walsall ... a colleague recommended we go to The Ivy House for lunch.
A proper ... traditional pub which, it seems, by serving good beers and offering an excellent and varied menu has bucked the trend and proved that pubs can survive.
I had the home made burgerl, chips etc
Others had steak pie, fish and chips and some sort of duck / noodle affair which I tasted and will have next time.
All meals were faultless and the young man running the bar and taking orders was professional, polite and entertaining. (love the fact he has to hold the card reader up in the air to get a signal ... "who worked that out ? " he asked me

We had a great night out here recently with friends. There were guest ales on which were very enjoyable and the meal we had in the restaurant was truly delicious. It's a great place to socialise and whilst not the cheapest place, it certainly didn't break the bank.
We will definately be returning.

Have just returned from my fathers wake which we held at the Ivy House. Excellent buffet, plenty of food and drink and brilliant service from both the bar and waiting staff. Good value for money and can certainly recommend.

This is one one of the few real pubs left in this area, still serves good beer in a real pub atmosphere.
The restaurant has a good selection of food cooked to perfection and the menu changes on a fairly regular basis. If you are looking for a night out with family and friends you wont do better.

Visited Ivy House for a second time last Saturday with friends to confirm that my thoughts after my first visit were accurate............they were!
The Ivy House is an old established Pub that like many others in recent years has seen the benefits in offering a Dining facility to it's customers. The layout of the building is such that a relatively small Bar area services 4 rooms including drinks for the Restaurant. The layout ofthe various rooms results in the necessity to climb down or up a small number of steps depending on the room chosen. To eliminate any steps the rear entrance is available for access
into the larger Bar area and the Restaurant. The choice of Beers available on both my visits was good and provided the choice that most would appreciate. If Dining, and, although not compulsory, on a Saturday evening I would recommend reserving a Table, one clear advantage being that your drinks will be brought to your table.
The Menu is varied to suit all tastes, including some Vegetarian options. Good, down to earthmeals, well cooked, well presented with excellent service from all Members of Staff........can you ask for more!
A slight criticism would have to be that some of the Main courses are perhaps a little basic with none of the additions sometimes seen elsewhere. My example of this is the Gammon choice thatis served with Chips and Peas and a choice of Eggs or Pineapple. Elsewhere you might see a Tomato, an Onion Ring/s and a couple of Mushrooms added to the meal but not at the Ivy House
they are side dishes that must be paid for and I was not prepared to pay £2 + for any/either.It really is of course a question of Customer choice £6.95 for Basic meal or £11 for the additions.
I personally think that a Tomato cut in half and two Mushrooms would add value to the dish and would allow a small premium to be put on the basic cost to cover.
A good evening out in a nice friendly atmosphere and a very reasonable cost.

Called in on the off chance as it always looks nice. Even though there was a big party in there and it was very busy they were able to accommodate us.
Staff were very friendly and the service excellent. Loved the food and the small portion was just enough for me.
Will certainly go back again.

I just love everything about this pub/restaurant. It has a lovely country feel to it. The staff are
excellent and the sunday lunch was absolutely delicious. Have had many a sunday lunch out and this takes a lot of beating. Booked the table for seven family members and we will definitely be returning very soon.

A lovely pub / restaurant serving great food that doesn't try to be anything it's not. On arrival we were treated like we mattered, asked to look at menu in bar with a drink first and they really could not do enough. When we were ready they took us through to a nice table, food was delicious, all three of us had different and we all agreed. Good choice of beer and wine and super staff. The decor of the pub is lovely and unique and the value for money is great. My only small gripe - I had the steak and kidney pie and asked for some extra gravy to go with it. For this they charged an additional £1.

Food was home cooked but not really appetising. The price was way to high for what the food was like. Big portions but could not eat all mine due to it being tasteless.
Atmosphere was non existent. Lucky there was a few of us. Would not go back or reccomend to anyone else. Very disappointed.
