This was our first visit, but it won't be our last. Plenty of choice, and the BBQ menu was to die for. Orders came within 10 minutes even though this was a busy Saturday night. Food was delicious, and good value for money.

Visited tonight with friends for whom this was a first visit. As usual the Vine did not fail to deliver great food with good service and friendly staff. Friends thoroughly enjoyed the night. Great place to visit with both family and friends. Food is always great, service prompt and staff friendly - definitely recommend to anyone wanting good food and drink!!

A large group of us visited on a Saturday evening. I have been here a couple of times in the past and it was very busy. On this occasion it was quite quiet. We ordered a drink and curry at the bar, there is also the bbq in the back where you can order food as well.
I think our curries arrive with in 5 minutes of us ordering them, which on this occasion was very much appreciated, as we were all very hungry. Not sure this give the made to order feel!!
The food was very nice. I didn't order from the BBQ, but a couple of my friends did and said it was good.
Its only round the corner from one of the Metro stops and well worth the stop off!!

We have visited several times over the course of 16 years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. We have always considered it to be value for money. Tonight 4 of us visited spending a little over £40, firstly surprised by the upgrade to the bbq room so much more comfortable, thank you somethings remain unchanged quirky ordering and familiar staff faces.(I like
quirky). The food hot flavoursome and delicious, I had tilapia from the bbq while the rest of the party had chicken, ribs and sheesh kebab with naans. We couldn't have enjoyed it more. Thank you Suki you deserve the success your business brings you.

The vine is an exceptional place to dine. It is cheap and cheerful and the quality of the food is phenomenal! To be honest the exterior of the place doesn't match the inside, but it most definitely is a great suprise when you see how deceptively spacious it is inside! The indoor barbecue is a fantastic touch. The vine has become a family favourite, and even though I am based in Sutton, my family and I always make the extra effort for guaranteed good food and a great even without having to dig deep into our pockets. Highly recommend

Visited The Vine for a 21st Birthday curry on my stepsons birthday February 22nd. We had heard a lot about this place so decided to give it a try. We didnt expect a lot as other reviews had said the place doesn't look a lot from the outside. Once we got in the pub we were surprised at the size of the place, like a tardis one room led into a larger room , then an even larger conservatory room, and then the barbecue room at the end. It was quite busy for a Sunday night, but the system of ordering food is very confusing. We asked the girl behind the bar for menus, and were told there are none. Everything is written on blackboards along one wall of the main room, just above the heads of other diners - so you have to stand look at the blackboards then go to the bar to order. If you want food from the barbecue, you have to go in to the barbecue room and order and pay there, then go back and collect it and bring it to the table yourself after it has been cooked, which normally takes about 10 minutes. Any food ordered at the bar is bought to your table by the waiting staff who cheerfully call out your order number. You help yourself to cutlery and serviettes from various cutlery stations, so it is almost self service. The bar staff were not very welcoming at all, and at one point, my husband and stepson went to the bar to order some drinks, they were chatting to each other while being served, and instead of addressing them politely and asking if there were any more drinks required, the barman whistled at them to interrupt their conversation. Even in our local pub at its very busiest I cannot imagine the bar staff being so rude to a customer. The food itself was average, with quite generous portions but certainly no better than any other Indian Restaurant, but we thought the price was actually high given the level of service you receive. Having been once, I now know how everything works, but I will not be in a hurry to rush back.

Fast food curry in a pub with a decent selection of areas at a very fair price. What's not to like? Now I have tasted better curry and tandoori and I have drunk better beer but the combination of both worked well at The Vine. Not sure if I enjoyed the whole experience enough to rush back but living over 250 miles away doesn't exactly allow an impulse night out does it? Everyone in our party of 5 finished every scrap and supped every drop and for about £20 a head had scoffed tandoori starters, curry with rice or nann and 2 drinks each.

Right near me but i wouldnt have realised. On the outside not much to look at but inside great private rooms and past the bar lovely restaurant space. Very clean, great service it came with 5mins. Had a scampi but it certainly did loads in terms of curry as many of the people I went with had them, all of which smelt gorgeous. Plenty of options but you go up the bar. There was a good variety of drinks too everything at reasonable prices. There's a big screen too for sports and the atmosphere was very friendly. I could see loads of business people in there. Great for families too. Defo going back for my birthday, a hidden gem

After arranging to meet an old friend here for the 1st time I pulled up and thought that the Vine was not much to look at from the outside and considered going elsewhere. I'm glad I didnt. The service was good, the range and quality of food is good value and tastes excellent. I will definitely be returning to eat here again!

Ive been using the vine for 22 years now, well before it was built into the building you visit today. I have always found the staff welcoming and friendly and the food top notch. I've eaten in a lot of posher places and been disappointed with the food And been charged a lot more to boot.

Working in Oldbury, just up the road, we have visited The Vine many, many times over the years, and it never disappoints. A group of us went again last week straight after work, and it was as good as ever.
The Vine is always very busy, so we got there at 5pm to avoid the crowds. I had three plates of BBQ chicken tikka and methi chicken, and a huge naan bread. The food was superb - perfectly cooked chicken with no giristle, with lovely spice marinades. The naan was also excellent.
The service is always friendly, and the food is excellent value for money.
All in all another great visit to this one of a kind pub. You must try it if you love Indian food !

The family & I have just come back and I'm disappointed to say that we didn't enjoy it which is a pity because I've been looking to going to the Vine for a long time. Judging by its popularity it looks I may be going against the tide but the Vine really isn't for me, why? I'm glad you asked.
For a first timer it's not obvious how this place works. Confusingly the menu and payments are split between two rooms, the bbq room & the "bar", plus there are a couple of other small rooms at the front. We preferred the slightly cosier bar side but even this was too loud, (not just our opinion the staff also commented on it) too cold & draughty (not just our opinion several diners kept their coats on) with a canteen ambience. You can open a tab which worked for us. The bbq food on the grill looked promising and the chicken tikka proved to be ok but the sheekh kebab I reckon would be too hot for anyone less than madras man. Regardless eating off paper plates doesn't do it for me. The curries you have to order from the bar. The menu is on the wall, and there's a limited choice with a couple of specials but no guide as to what they are. You can always ask the guys behind the bar of course but we had two conflicting descriptions of the clay pot and so opted for a madras and a dupiaza. The meals arrived a few minutes after ordering, freshly cooked? That's not a dig by the way. The madras wasn't bad but not as rich as I would have liked. The wife's dupiaza was quite creamy and not to her taste plus they forgot the chick peas we requested so she wasn't happy, at least my daughter enjoyed her korma. The sundries were fine. Very good beer but not so good wine. We left quite a bit of food and rather than waste it we asked if we good take it home, no problem and we were given a couple of foil trays and a carrier bag! Overall far more lows than highs I'm afraid but at least the bill didn't break the bank.

Met up with a work colleague who recommended this place - it was different in that it's more 'school refectory' than sit-down restaurant, and takes you a bit by surprise. The menu is extensive - curry - any way you want really, and freshly cooked and good quality. Very friendly & lively environment, looks great for groups. I'm told the beer is good too - but limited to sparkling water as I'm enduring 'dry January'. Ultimately, a great place to eat/meet - it's near a site I visit often, so will definitely be going back.

The title says it all. But I will say that there is often a queue to order your food and once in a while a delay in it being served but the atmosphere and the HUGE television screen keep clients occupied while they wait.

Visited early dec with a friend for a catch up.
Only complaint is that there are no menus on the table. You have to stand gawping over at a wall whilst others are eating. Also the BBQ items are no where to be seen and I thought this must mean they were not on offer (they were) but we missed them due to this.Curry was very tasty and served quickly.
Drinks reasonably priced.

Second visit for food. Excellent meal, great service, good ambience. Little cold in the BBQ room, had to wear our coats to eat, but can't fault food or beer or prices.
