Stayed here for 3 nights whilst attending a Sunday Christening but took in the Saturday football match as well with lunch in the Bolton Wanderers hospitality suite.

We had upgraded to a room with french windows overlooking the pitch, which is well worth the extra money. Watching the stadium start to fill up on the Saturday is interesting, especially when a funeral party scattered a deceased fan's ashes by the side of the pitch after a short ceremony. the only thing forgot to ask is why the french windows are locked shut without a key - I can see why on a match day, but, all the time? also be aware that heavy lights shine on the pitch 24 hours a day after the match to make the grass grow. the curtains are thick, though.

Comfortable large room and pleasant once we worked out why it was blowing out cold air all the time. Bathroom not huge, but all clean and OK. Huge public areas in the hotel and so much car parking outside. There seem to be plenty of chain restaurants in the complexes nearby and a (24 hour?) Tesco just up the road.

The wrong newspapers came on the Saturday - surely this is a basic to get right - I saw her write down the correct ones when we arrived.

Breakfast was OK, nothing special except lovely Bury black sausage - my favourite. We didn't have dinner but reasonable room service snacks on Saturday night came with a sting in the tale : I couldn't believe that a £3 charge was slapped on for delivery when it is not mentioned on the menu (after close examination). Its not the money, its the principle.

I went down to the bar/cafe area for a snack on the Sunday night to read my book in peace away from my wife watching Strictly/X Factor/I'm a Celebrity on TV and ordered a caesar salad. Very cold down there on the mezzanine floor; the waiter told me the heating was full on - he said 33 degrees but that's nonsense - then "maybe its the doors opening downstairs" but the air con was blowing cold everywhere you tried to sit. The caesar salad was fine, but it was supposed to be a chicken caesar and there were no croutons either. Due to the cold, these omissions didn't permeate my brain (it was an enthralling book) until, after I had finished, the waiter then came rushing up, told me about the missing items, and apologised. I was offered, and took, a free glass of wine.

So, good in parts, but needs to get its act together more.

I'm not a Bolton fan so unless my nephew has any more children to Christen, doubt if we will be coming back.

Had an amazing night at the Macron Stadium at the weekend, the staff were friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. The food, well what can I say, I have been converted to eating turkey!! the food was absolutely delicious by far the best I have eaten in a long time. From start to finish presentation was at its best and the chocolate brownie was to die for. I shall definitely be returning for another visiting to sample this amazing food.
I would highly recommend this venue and sample the food you won't be disappointed.

The Whites Hotel is part of the Macron Stadium (Formerly Reebok Stadium) home of the Bolton Wanderers football team in the north west of England.
Some of the rooms overlook the football field from high above.
I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming, the rooms spacious and comfortable and breakfast excellent. Check out was simple and straight forward, takes no time at all.
Almost next door to the hotel is a shopping mall
Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
I was attending a function at the Platinum Room next door to the hotel and also part of the stadium building so a good choice from that point of view also

I visited Bolton Whites Hotel this week on business, reception were efficient, quick and friendly.

Hotel room was clean and comfortable. I got a great night’s sleep.

I ate in the restaurant with a colleague and we were very impressed. The staff were professional and attentive. The food was excellent; apparently it is a new menu. I had the chicken liver parfait; my colleague had the cheese soufflé, which looked fantastic. For main course I had the lamb and my colleague had duck. Both too full for dessert we shared a cheese slate, plenty for two. I feel it was great value, 2 courses for £20 and 3 for £25.
There was a good choice at breakfast and the staff again were professional, nothing was too much trouble.

A very pleasant stay and I look forward to the next one.

I recently had the pleasure of staying here overnight for an anniversary surprise and I have nothing but good words for my experience, from checking in to room service to leaving in the morning, every interaction I had with members of staff certainly would explain the 4 star rating, I believe the chap on the front desk was called Andy, he went above an beyond to make sure I was well informed and of any further services I may require. My only criticism would be the food/drinks menu is what I believe to be mega expensive for what you get but maybe that says more about my choice of restaurants than this hotel. Overall I would definitely go back.

Hotel is built into the football stadium. Rooms were reasonable size, but cold. Radiator was hidden behind the already closed curtains. No flannels in the bathroom. Restaurant was very poor. Meat wasn't cooked through and the cut was the toughest I've ever encountered - had to send it back. Service was patchy and not very good. Wine choice also poor.

Overall, not a place to stay if you can avoid it.

Room ok nothing special but ok for a couple of nights. Not a high end hotel but mid range but expensive for the area. Manchester hilton would be better and only 15mins away. Biggest issue fire alarm at 7am Sunday morning. No apology, no information, no comment on checkout, no gesture. Never go back!

We s tayed one night when a time and day change for a game meant we could not get home after the match. The check in was smooth and the hotel is just built for sport... Much like the Hilton at MK Dons. A good bar with nice staff and comfortable room albeit small but functional. No sports on TV. Very good value. Shame about the match.

Decided to stay overnight after the party, bar was open till late, function room was very good but its a big place so hard to find. The rooms were large and warm with comfortable beds. Had a good nights sleep. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Car park is very large so no problems there.

I stayed here last night as was attending the football. There is no better place to stay when a game is on. The staff were friendly and it had a nice feel to it.

However I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago and nothing much has been updated or changed. The hotel could really do with a freshen up before it becomes too tired.

If you watch a lot of TV this hotel is not for you. The TV cut out a lot and the picture was poor. Didn't bother me too much but if you were staying long-term with work - it would have become annoying.

I was up in bolton for a conference and found the location of the hotel really useful. The hotel is surrounded by everything you would ever need on a trip and had plenty of places to eat. I was happy with the quality of the room and the service given by the staff. The only thing which let down the hotel is the condition of the pool as it was dirty and very run down, I can only presume that ongoing maintenance was being carried out at the time as their was wires hanging out of wall where fire alarms used to be and stains on the ceiling above the wall. The gym is also of poor quality but their is a outstanding gym next door. The hotel is fairly cheap and worth staying their for the money you pay.

We used this hotel as a stopover. The room was great and price very reasonable. The staff were very helpful we even checked in a lot earlier than stated. There are plenty of places to eat and shop on the retail park next to the hotel.
We would definitely stop here again.

I stopped for 1 night on a Saturday there was a football match on which you thought might make a difference to the noise level which I wouldn't have been bothered about but there was none at all the rooms are nice and spacious and very clean the bed was very comfortable to the bar area and eating area are very spacious and the staff very friendly and polite I wish I had booked a room overlooking the pitch as I bet that would be a experience the surrounding area has lots of places to eat and there's a cinema bowling alley so would I recommend this hotel yes defiantly the only thing I wish they would change is the price for breakfast 25 pounds for 2 people which is expensive as there is a harvester over the road

Second time we have stopped here. Easy access to M6 and Trafford centre. The rooms are very comfortable. Shower, bath, iron, trs press, tv, coffee making facilities. The hotel bar is well stocked (but be warned prices are hotel prices and are a little steep) Breakfast was excellent (but again a little pricey) there is a good selection of shops and restraunts surrounding hotel so there are eating options. Would I recommend this.... absolutley.

I’ve stayed in this hotel (literally a hundred times!) when it was part of the De Vere Group, and was a little nervous that standards might have dropped recently. How wrong I was!

The rooms I’ve stayed in all could do with a little bit of a refresh, but they are all well-equipped (new HD TV’s are a real bonus) and are clean. The free wifi is fast and works really well and most floors are easily accessible – however, you might need to let the hotel know in advance if you really struggle with stairs as there is one floor that can be awkward to get to when using the main lift.

The real winner for me though is how much the food has improved. I can still list the old room service menu from memory and was a little worried that the food might suffer with the change, but the new chef and their team have really done a great job and have not sacrificed any noticeable quality in bringing together an deeply impressive menu at a great price.

I would normally heartily recommend any stay at the Bolton Whites, but I won’t. For goodness sake, don’t stay there – if you do, the extra bookings just might prevent me from reserving another room!

I booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my 9 year old to watch his first football match. We were in a corner pitch view room and it was worth every penny. Match tickets were included in the rate and we struggled to choose whether to watch the match in the room or in the stadium. In the end we stayed in the stadium but enjoyed our view of the pitch when we returned to the room. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was very comfy and we all had a great night's sleep (unusual for me in a hotel). Breakfast was delicious in the morning and we used the leisure facilities before we left. I can't fault the hotel at all and we will definitely be back.

This is an excellent hotel. Reception and bar areas are clean and attractive. The room was very clean, well-provided and comfortable. Bed and bedding comfortable, bathroom bright and clean. Towels were fine (not thin as suggested by some reviewers). Breakfast was a good selection and well presented. Staff were very attentive and friendly.

Very good value and compares excellently with other hotels we have stayed in recently. Will come again!

i spent one night in a pitch view room after attending a function.

Bed was comfortable and although I prefer to sleep with a window open the air con did a reasonable job.

Check in and out was efficient and breakfast very tasty.

Would recommend

All I can say is this is an average hotel, there is nothing outstanding, the service and food have nothing to write about as all very vey average. Would I stay here again, if I need a room for a night and nothing more then yes

I enjoyed my stay here and had a room over looking the pitch, which meant it was nice and quiet. Good welcome at check in a efficient check out. My room was clean and nicely decorated, as were all the public areas I used.
There are a large choice of well known restaurants chains a short walk away in the retail park and a restaurant in the hotel. But I chose to have a bar meal and enjoyed an excellent house burger.
Breakfast has a large choice served as a buffet, the quality was good. But unfortunately my cooked breakfast was only lukewarm and, as I was off to an early morning meeting, I did not have time to ask for it to be heated.
Over all good place to stay and I hope to be back.

We used this hotel as a base for a long weekend. We were welcomed pleasantly by the Reception staff and given the keys to our room. I had to pay for the room on arrival which negates the possibility of being able to charge things to the bill. As it was we had to pay for drinks and dinner separately which was a bit of a pain.
No porterage so we had to carry our luggage ourselves. The twin room was fine with a bath and shower over. The window opened slightly but it was quite hot and there is no air conditioning. Towels were rather thin but of a good size. Face flannels were provided but on the second day were not replaced but were washed out by the room cleaner. We did not use them after that!
We were on the 5th floor which was quiet apart from noisy guests leaving on the Saturday night.
We ate in the Brasserie on both nights. The staff were most attentive and fairly well trained - though the wine was opened and poured without tasting on each evening. The menu was slightly strange with rather peculiar mixtures on it. The prices were reasonable.
Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice. Good selection of bread, cheese, fruit etc and cooked breakfast too - but when will hotels learn that fried eggs need to be cooked freshly. Nothing worse than cold, hard, fried egg!
We did not see the leisure centre.
The hotel is attached to Bolton Wanderers football club. They were playing away the weekend we were there. Might be more noisy of there was a match on..
Overall the hotel was good value for money and the staff are all friendly, cheerful and willing. We would stay again.
