Stayed for 3 nights while visiting family. Room was on the 5th floor. Very quiet which I liked. Had to pay £8 for the cooked breakfast which was okay and nothing fancy. Plenty of parking space. Free wifi in the room.

The location in the soccer ground gives it a buzz - some rooms can see the ground. Rooms new and clean, limited storage, poor lighting for my wife's make up (why do so many hotel chains always get this wrong?), an electric heater provided in May as well as main heating system, a few noisy guests. Food below average. The whole team including bar and restaurant staff superb. Great location next to huge shopping and food area, motorway and also train station almost on the doorstep. Plenty of car parking.
Some rooms have a few stairs for access only - we had very heavy luggage and had to struggle.

I didn't make the connection from the photograph that the "Whites" Hotel in Bolton is actually within the Reebok Stadium of Bolton Wanderers. It is a modern 4 star hotel, with all the facilities a traveller could want for a day or two, although not sure I'd want to stay longer. Parking is good during the week but obviously becomes problematic on match days. Internet was robust and tea and coffee in room. Public areas very nice and staff very helpful. The view from my room was over the pitch which was a unusual but not unwelcome. The only downside of this hotel was the room itself, and especially the bathroom, as it was more like a no-frills Travelodge or Premier Inn. I had an executive room, so I cannot imagine what the standard room was like. It was small and furnature was it felt just like a budget hotel. My Rating - Room : Average / Pool - Didn't use facilites / Location - Away from the city centre, isolated without a car / Room Rate - Good / Breakfast - Excellent, but charged extra at £10.50 a day. I would stay here again, as colleages tell me than in Bolton this is as good as it gets!

This hotel was booked for my parents to visit their new grand daughter, whilst booking a suite for the weekend we where told sorry but the other reservation agent had booked the last one...no worries as the double deluxe rooms where just as good!

On arrival all went ok, receptionist needed to call the duty manager over to confirm what room was booked, which was a little worrying.

Sadly disappointed to discover that the double deluxe room was really a larger standard room, with a 1980's TV, nothing in the way of modern deluxe facilities like many other hotels (audio, espresso coffee, power shower etc, etc).

To close I would say this hotel is very dated and needs more TLC to bring to the standards of many hotels, and we are left disappointed that our attempt to ensure my parents had a deluxe room was nothing more than a larger room akin to Premier Inn.

I have stayed here a few times, and always feel impressed by the level of service and friendliness of the staff. Rooms are very comfy and clean, and facilities at the hotel are first class. Ample parking also. Highly recommended.

Stayed here when we were attending a nearby wedding. Excellent room and quick and friendly check in. Breakfast adequate, typical hotel fare. Whilst we didn't spend much time in the hotel, we would use it against if necessary. The big surprise, when we opened the patio window curtains , was the view over the Football pitch. Very impressive!!

Booked Whites as it looked nice on internet and the reviews on Tripadvisor were reasonable. Booked through laterooms.com and so only paid half the normal price for bed and breakfast. Easy to park. Went to reception and was allocated a disabled friendly room in the middle of the hotel with no window except an internal one overlooking the stairs - guests could see in. Upon going back to reception the young man said I expect you were given room 332 not sounding at all surprised ! He kindly changed the room and so I was moved to a well appointed but small and dull room. There were all the facilities you would expect in the room, the bed was comfortable and the shower powerful and hot. The swimming pool was smaller than expected and not so warm but I enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The desk in the leisure complex is defunct and the complex is monitored by the reception staff. The seats in the lounges are plentiful and it was good being able to catch up on the sports news on the TV screens on the lounge walls late on. Breakfast was of good quality but the dining room was at the back of the hotel with its no windows and the staff were not particularly friendly. Some staff were more interested in getting their own breakfast! Would stay here again as an excellent location and it suited my needs but would not be willing to pay full price.

I travelled from Northern Ireland to stay in this hotel for the duration of the Bolton Youth Cup . Most of the staff were friendly and competent and the service was generally good . The room was clean and ample for my needs , although the door entry system to the room broke and I had to be moved to a different room. This could have happened anywhere however , so I didnt mind . I found the breakfast was ok for the price but I do like my sausages cooked however . I did find my overall stay enjoyable and would stay here again . The only real downside is that the hotel is pretty isolated and I found between the matches , there was precious little to do ,.

The overall experience of my stay was not what I expected. I stayed there through business who are only over the road so this was really convenient for an early morning visit and driving up from Doncaster the night before. The food and the whole dining was nothing like I have had before left me speechless. And the bed was so comfortable got a good night sleep will definitely stay there again and will recommend this to my family and friends.

Our review of 20th January titled 'So what DID happen to our Penthouse Suite?' prompted our latest visit. The management responded to our review by offering, on TripAdvisor, a complimentary upgrade to a Penthouse Suite on our next booking.
So we booked two rooms for the Sunday Bank Holiday. We were given upgrades to one Penthouse Suite and one Pitch View Room plus breakfast for four. Management honoured their promise to us.
Check in was simple, speedy and friendly, our rooms were as good as expected. The Penthouse is a sitting room, bedroom and large bath and shower room accessible from either room. Two TVs and fairly quiet air conditioning made the room comfy and large windows made it bright. The Pitch View room had large windows, a seating area and a view of the pitch, which was in use so worth the view.
Breakfast was far better than our previous stay, the food was hot and the lukewarm coffee was speedily replaced upon request with many apologies. The maitre d' was very attentive and friendly.
Sadly, there was a downside. A drunk decided to have a fight at 0530 and set off the fire alarm, causing the hotel to be evacuated. The Penthouses are at the top of the building and the fire escapes are not intuitive (we met others heading our way while we were heading theirs as the overhead signs show straight on from both sides). Once outside, one member of staff tried to do a roll call by megaphone, which was not loud enough. As he was the only staff member visible due to his hi vis jacket, we had no way of knowing how many other members of staff were present, which was disappointing and not confidence building for guests!
Once we were allowed back in, we realised that the lifts had been turned off and the visible stairs finished at floor three. We had to find our way to the fire stairs to get to floor six. There is no signage to our floor from lower floors thatvwe could see.
Despite the fact that the evacuation and re entry process could do with reviewing, we enjoyed our stay very much and will happily return, to a lower floor!

We stayed here because we wanted to go to an antiques fair nearby the next day. We were greeted warmly and shown to our room overlooking a football pitch. That was a first for us both! And we could actually watch a lower division game from our comfortable bed - another first. The room was a bit tatty and could use some TLC. There were a lot of stains and nicks left behind by past, rowdy, fans I assume. We were provided with robes but no slippers so the walk to the pool area was made in bare feet. The pool and the spa area were very nice. The fine, dining restaurant was closed because it was Sunday (!), so we settled for bar/bistro food which really wasn't very good. Industrially produced onion rings missing real onions is just one example. The same sort of nonsense served by Burger King and probably made by Macain. But we weren't expecting anything fancy - and that's what we were served. We were totally ignored (or unseen) by some sort of employee who went about her business in a comatose state wandering from one area to another without lifting her head. After a half hour of that nonsense I spoke to John who took over. Things got a lot better from that point. The bar man was also exceptionally kind and professional. I've forgotten his name but he'll remember us because he went the extra mile and got us an address of a wine merchant in Skipton, offered my wife a glass of wine while waiting for a cab, and because I tipped him nicely during our brief stay. If the corporate bosses of the Bolton Whites read these reviews then all I can say is: "Fire the blonde, and give John and the bartender a raise!"

Had the opportunity to eat here with colleagues at the Nasen live event in May 2014.

The staff were attentive and a common sense approach was taken to the menu and pricing with a £20 two course offer. The food was well presented and tasty, and the eat time between order and serving was appropriate.

I was pleased to note that although fruit salad wasn't on the set menu, my request was soon addressed and provided for, all within the set menu price, which was impressive. This is a venue that seeks to meet the needs of customers and this is always a plus.

Overall no problems, and a restaurant I would be happy to recommend.

I stayed here while visiting the area for a friends wedding and was so pleased with my stay I had to write a review.
I have stayed here before and enjoyed my stay previously but this time I had the chance to stay in one of the penthouse suites.
I needed a speedy check in as I was a bridesmaid and needed to check in after the church before the venue in time for the photos. I was not disappointed. I was checked in by Jennifer and Andrew who very quickly checked me into my room, made me feel very welcome and then offered to take my bags to the room as they could see I was in a hurry. I loved this and really rested my mind as I was afraid I'd be late.
When we returned from the wedding in the evening, again, I was welcomed into the hotel by the night porters. It is so refreshing to have such happy smiling faces welcome you into a hotel. We went to the hotel bar where Jonathon served us, he made polite chat and we really enjoyed our night cap in the bar area.
When we went to our room we were very impressed. The size of the penthouse is huge with the bedroom separate to a living area and a large bathroom with two basins. Water was waiting for us, a relief after a heavy day of drinking and the bed was so comfortable I could have slept for years.
The room was immaculately clean and we ordered for our breakfast to be delivered to our rooms for a £3 tray charge, it was worth every penny. A huge cooked breakfast was brought to us with piping hot coffee and an abundance of toast. Just what we needed.
We used the leisure facilities which were kept clean and it was nice to see a leisure staff member tending to the pool keeping everything running well. The steam room and hot tub add that relaxing touch.
Again on check out the receptionist, Jennifer was very attentive and her hosting really made my stay special.
I will most definitely be staying here again and investing in the penthouse suite is a must. Thank you to Bolton Whites Hotel for a lovely stay your staff is an asset to you.

I was working at the Reebok Stadium on the 17th and 18th May. The company I was with booked me into this hotel.

The room was fine, no concerns and was to a suitable standard that I'd expect. The breakfast was fantastic, with English and continental options available as a buffet. The only improvement that could be made was to have tea and coffee freely available. I had to wait to be served coffee, even though there were only about eight people dining and the restaurant having been open for about 15 minutes, and then I wasn't able to get a second cup of coffee. I didn't have time to use the gym or the pool but colleagues had no concerns with it.

The bar was pleasant with plenty of televisions at a non-obtrusive volume. After 11pm (I think that was the cut-off time) you can only charge drinks to your room so you must validate a credit card. I had to return to my room to get my card after ordering a drink and then had to wait at reception for it to be validated. This should have been outlined better during the check-in process as I was only asked if I wanted to pay by cash as I went or if I wanted to charge to my room - if the cash closing time for the bar was explained at that point then it would have prevented me from having to go through the late night effort to get my card.

The note is located as part of the Reebok Stadium and there's a retail park next door as well. All in all, more positives than negatives and the improvements that could be made are fairly minor.

We stayed here for our 16th wedding anniversary as I am a big Bolton Wanderers fan. The rooms were of a good clean standard but nothing spectacular however the staff were superb and the general ambience and feel was really nice and relaxed. The gym and spa area were a bit small but were well maintained and felt clean. The breakfast was very tasty and had a good range of different foods to suit all tastes. We will definitely use the Hotel again should the need arise.

Stayed as family, the staff could not have been more helpful. All requests prior to booking were sorted. John the duty manager on 24th fantastic. He was wonderful on the Friday evening making sure all the family were happy. 10 out of 10 for his managerial skills. The pool is very good. Great dining room, Small restaurant for the evening need to book. 2 courses for £20.00 or the bar open all day. Lots of area to just sit around, fantastic parking. Handy for the Reebok Retail park.

Stayed here on business. The rooms are decent size but interiors need updating. TV needs updating as it was an old box type set and wasn't working. The wifi works fine. The corridors get noisy at night. Breakfast was good.

i stayed at this hotel a few week back, the staff was really helpful and the service given was also good! we was given a free upgraded room which give us a nice view of the football stadium. We stayed here on a match day, and we even got given free match tickets for staying. Excellent service, couldn't ask for more. Located on Retail park, Asda nearby if need anything. Cinemas for a great night out and a lot of retails shops.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel on Friday 11th April as we were attending an event in The Premier Suite.
We stayed in a penthouse room, not as impressive as it sounds, large room with a seating area with dated and stained sofas. A separate bedroom area was off the lounge which had a large bed facing the window, the net curtains spoiled first impressions.
The bathroom is large with separate shower and bath and double sinks.
Overall the hotel is dated and lacks character.
We ordered breakfast in our room, it arrived Luke warm with toast only toasted on one side. On departure we complained about breakfast and were informed Heathcotes run the catering and they would inform the Manager of this business.
Something to note is if you are staying at the hotel and attending a function at The Premier Suite the only way to access is by walking out the front door of hotel and walk around the side of the building to get to the entrance of The Premier Suite. Not the best approach past bins with no sense of arrival, however luckily it was not raining!

Stayed here last night. Bed comfortable. The room just like a Holiday Inn perhaps a little smaller, would have expected a table and chair to work at for a 4 star hotel.

Sound proofing between rooms poor. Television I could only get a few channels would have thought that they would have all the free channels? Couldn't get the radio to work. Showed radio 2 but wouldn't play. That would have seriously annoyed me if I hadn't been able to get it on the IPad! Back was missing from the remote to the TV so had to keep pressing the batteries in to make the very old telly work. Silly little things but not what one expects in a 4 star hotel.

Room very clean. Hot though with no air conditioning wouldn't like to be there in the Summer? Large window but over looked the car park so imagine it would be noisy if you did that.

Food was excellent really good value but I'm used to London prices but £20 for two courses that were superb would be impossible in London don't know about Bolton? The Front of House Manager was really polite and helpful but I was surprised that he knew nothing about the menu. For example he didn't know what the sauce round the salmon was without looking back at the menu and didn't know if one of the mains came with potatoes he had to check. Would have expected him to know the menus inside out, it was far from extensive! Ate too much so only had a croissant for breakfast! But looked excellent if you wanted a cooked breakfast.

Staff all very nice and polite.

Booked two spa treatments and these were cancelled at very short notice. Therapist's son rushed to hospital so understandably unavoidable. Very disappointed though that there was no one to cover especially as other half's treat!

I am currently at the start of a week long stay and within 24 hrs have already noticed how attentive and helpful the staff are. Not just those who are managers either. I have stayed at other hotels where staff appear strained to be helpful, but these guys are more relaxed and genuine. Who ever employes, trains and manages them has done a great job, well done!

The food is really good too! Most important to know. Meals are better than their menu description. :-)

The rooms are very clean and well looked after, guess that is another reflection on staff who look after them. Could I suggest an option of lower tog duvets as I was so warm last night? Rooms are not modern, but comfortable with good tea/coffee facilities. I am a fussy bugger when it comes to beds and this one was great with mattress firm, but comfortable A useful bonus was that the room had an iron and ironing board. Not sure if they all do!

My room was one away from the bar with a door that must open and close when people enter my corridor, but am not disturbed at all. Do hear the odd thud around the place, but not an issue.

On the down side the tv only had a few channels and was old CRT type, not what we come to expect in this day and age, but was adequate. Am I the only person who thinks a radio/clock would be good in a hotel room too?

So well done Bolton Whites a great place to stay.

Stayed here during a confence. Room was pleasant and spacious. Some nice herbal teas included in the room tea making set.

Generally pretty quiet and peaceful but the soundproofing between rooms was not so good. Had a very giggly couple in the room next to me! If you're bothered by noise, bring your earplugs.

Nice looking hotel from outside but room was average and dated, and looked similar to old style Holiday Inn Express rooms, food in the main restaurant was excellent and every effort was made by staff to ensure it was a good experience, which is tough when you are a lone business traveller. However the breakfast room is like a service station café, tatty furniture made it look very down market. Staff were all genuinely helpful
