...because I would have been more disappointed if I'd paid the usual £70!
Room seemed very dated for the age of the hotel, very chintzy, heavy colours and clashing patterns. My main gripe was the poor cleanliness, drink marks all over glass shelves, crumbs on the floor and window sill and dirty paper coasters under the 'clean' glasses, yuk!!
On the plus side the hotel is a good size, with a big bar area, restaurants and the leisure centre (pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna), a great way to while away a couple of hours.
There was a match on the day we stayed (FA Cup drawn after we booked), so parking, check in, bars were very busy but it gave the place a nice buzz and bit of atmosphere.
Good location, just a couple of minutes walk up to the cinema, shops and restaurants at Middlebrook.

we just stayed the one night between christmas and new year . interesting place to be because of being part of bolton football ground. shopping in manchester was our main aim so the nearby station at horwich a mile away was a big plus. hotel was modern and clean . room was good . we did not get to try any food .would use hotel again .

Staff were friendly and attentive. Rooms of reasonably high standard. The numbering on the lifts was confusing, for my room number the lift information advised floor 4, yet there wasn't a button for floor 4. I got out at floor 3 and a staff member directed me to my accomodation.....it wasn't serviced by a lift at all!
Perhaps it was because I was attending a business conference but the evening meal was of average quality and small portions. We had to select our meals in advance (2-3 weeks)and as there was no copy of the submitted spread sheet to hand, no one could remember their selection and as the last table served we unfortunately had to take what was left. It could well have been an organising member of our party who was at fault here. Excellent breakfast and very pleasant staff to look after your every need. Okay for a business meeting but don't fancy it for anything else.

Stopped at De Verse Whites for the second time this week. Overall a well kept, well managed hotel. Totally recommended.

Rooms that look out onto the stadium are highly recommended

Stayed on business, had an amazing room with view of the football pitch, room very clean and bed extremely comfy, making it really difficult to get up in the morning. Conference room again overlooiing the football pitch - extremely pleasant stay

I've stayed here numerous times and in the main I like the hotel.
Staff I have always found most helpful and polite - my last booking I believed was for a double room but was allocated a twin, went back down to reception and the team swiftly and politely changed it to a Double, it was my error on the initial booking.
The Hotel is clean, bright with pretty good facilities including a huge car park.
Down sides? To be honest very few:
Charging for Wifi in this day and age is a poor show and i would urge the hotel to review their policy (or the group if it is group (DeVere) policy).
The other down side that gets me every time I stay here for a function is there is no direct access to the Premier Suite as a guest - You can spend a fortune on new clothes and hair do's only to have to walk around the side of a very exposed venue open to the elements.

The two criticisms apart I love this place and am already booked to go back next month.

The hotel is integrated into The Reebok Stadium which is Bolton Wanderers home ground. The rooms are a good size, well equipped and the beds are comfortable. Bathroom is spacious and the shower is adequate though nothing special.
Breakfast was your standard buffet style hotel fair, nothing to get excited about but all edible. The bar and restaurant was nice enough but expensive as you would expect in this style of hotel. There was a smallish Gym and Spa but last entry was 9PM so I never got round to using it.
The staff and service was ok but nobody was particularly friendly or looked like they were happy to be there.
The location is very good as it is close enough to the motorway to be convenient without the noise and there is a train station a few hundred yards away with trains to Bolton, Manchester and Blackpool.
It is situated on the edge of a retail park so plenty of choices of places to eat like Nandos, Pizza Hut, a Chinese restaurant, McDonalds and Subway. Also there are lots of shops including Asda, Tesco, M&S and Boots. There is a Cinema and a bowling alley as well.
I only paid £75 a night B&B not sure I would be prepared to pay much more particularly if it was my own money but overall fairly good value for money,

We stayed in early August, with our two children of 11 and 15 years. We had initially booked one family room next door at the Premier Inn but noted that this hotel were promoting an offer where if we booked one double room, they would provide an inter-connecting twin room FOC. Excellent! Two bathrooms which would speed us on our onward journey the following day. Son was excited to be staying in a football stadium too!
Rooms were reasonably spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The staff were very pleasant at Reception and at breakfast service, and the hot breakfast was delicious with plentiful supplies of fresh fruit, bread and cereals.
If I was picky over anything it would perhaps be the very firm bed - but then this is a personal thing and what's good for one perhaps isn't right for another so wouldn't prevent me staying again.
We were all particularly 'wowed' by the view from the restaurant of the inside of the Reebok Stadium - worth a look if you don't dine in there!

this is a decent de vere. unspectacular, but nothing wrong.
does a very good cooked breakfast.
all the staff are lovely and charming, helped by their boltonian accents.
a good location for a work conference, good transport links and amenities.
there is a nandos round the corner!!
the rooms were a touch on the small side. bouncy bed. sky sports. decent shower.
not very exciting, but decent

He stayed here as part of a wedding party. This hotel is comfortable and just like any other business hotel, relatively sterile and slightly tired decor. The bride and groom booked out 40 rooms for their guests and a honeymoon suite for themselves. All the guests checked in fine, but when the newlyweds arrived after their wedding reception they were told that their room had been sold!!!! Even after reserving half of the hotel. Seeing the bride in tears at 1am wasn't particularly nice and having seen other reviews of booking problems / dishonoured reservations, I suggest you look elsewhere.......

We have just returned from the De Vere Whites Bolton and must compliment all the staff. We were there on a 3 night package and from the moment we walked into the reception until the moment we left everything was first class. The hotel itself looks more like a 5 star and is very spacious. We had dinner in Reflexions on our first night. The meal was great and I must give a special thankyou to the waiter who went out of his way to make us all welcome. My son whos 10 got VIP treatment and his holiday was complete when he got to meet all the Bolton players on the Friday night.this was aft er he had watched the game. The breakfast was really nice and the staff were always pleasant and couldnt do enough for you. All in all we had a great time and will def be back soon

We stayed here on a 3 night deal, Bed, Breakfast and 40 quid towards an evening meal on the 1st night. All for 169 pound. Check in was smooth, great service, reseved a table at the Reflections restaurant for us in of the booths that overlook the Reebok Stadium pitch. The room wasn't the biggest I've seen in 4 star hotel, but cosy. Full SKY sports, huge bed, nice bathroom. Dinner at thge restaurant was fantastic, the service was top notch and the surroundings were great. Breakfast was equally as good, the staff couldn't of been more friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, full english buffet style, continental breakfast also available. Juices, tea, coffee, every single national paper. Perfect. We also used the small gym/Sauna/Swimming pool and Spa for free whenever we wanted. Had a few drinks at the bar on th 1st floor while watching the world cup, again very friendly staff. I've read a few reviews on here and I'm honestly shocked at some of them, we experienced 1st class service throughout our 3 day stay. Well don Devere Whites. I've stayed in some 5 star hotels in London at treble the price for 1 night and they have been nowhere near as good as this place. ONLY 1 negative... they need to offer free Wi-Fi.

...carry on with your wifi charge. 21 GBP per day is absolutely disgraceful and the feeling that I was being taken for a fool spoiled what otherwise would have been a perfect stay. The fact that you try to charge that is one matter. The fact that you try to defend it and are not prepared to be flexible means that I have to mark you down.

This is sad because otherwise the hotel is as good as it gets for a large hotel. Spacious bars, excellent meal service and stunning bedrooms. (The room looks onto the pitch!!) Totally irrelevant to somebody like me who wants/needs 24/7 internet access.

Until it reviews its charges I cannot recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to send emails, surf the net etc

Poor trainer/stadium analogy I know, but whereas beforehand this hotel was like a pair of Reeboks like the stadium it's a part of, it is now more like a pair of Hi-Tecs which are showing signs of wear. Very poor check in with a queue of 6 for the one receptionist on duty. Rooms are starting to get a bit dated, but are comparatively large. Watch out though for their rooms which don't have any access to daylight, instead having interior windows (with no privacy glass) directly adjacent to interior walkways and stairwells to reception. You could literally end up having people walk right past your bedroom window inside the hotel - seemed strange for a hotel with such aspirational standards. Getting a room with an outside window was somewhat ironic given the room was flooded with daylight at 4am in the morning due to the ill fitting curtains and large window. Buffet breakfast was superb, but in terms of the stay was left disappointed after a lengthy absence in making a return visit to this previously outstanding hotel. DeVeres need to watch out, the Premier Inn across the road provides a better overall package in my opinion provided a hotel restaurant/room service are not a necessity of your stay.

We stayed here as my wife was seeing Westlife at the MEN area and we were travelling to Scotland the next day. We booked on the day and got a room for £60. It was a fiver more then the premier inn accross the road so i thought I might as well give it a try. Check in was rubbish. The women was not interested in being there and just threw a form at me to sign and did not ask about breakfast or dinner. I am not a fan of been asked twenty questions at check in but I at least expect the basics. The room was a decent size and the bed was huge. Everything was clean but slightly dated. It was a nice quiet room and tucked away from all the function rooms which was nice. I would not have paid the full advertised price but for £60 it was more than adequate. It is in a good location for accessing Manchester and I am sure it would be great if you are watching a football match there. I would stay there again but only if the price is comparable to the travel inn.

This was my family’s fourth stay at the De Vere, I was attending a conference and the family came along for the ride. We have always enjoyed our stays here and had great rooms, this time there was a problem with the room and we had not been given a family room but we spend the first night in a double room with a camp bed for my daughter. Next day we were moved to a suite so that sorted the problem out and the staff were great at fixing this problem. We did notice that the standard of toiletries has slipped since previous years and we made this known to the management team and they admitted that this had happened and came from head office.
The breakfast once again was great with great staff in the breakfast room we did not eat dinner in the hotel so cannot comment on this.
Once again we did use the swimming pool which was clean and up to the usually standard.

I had a really nice stay here. The room was a good size and comfortable. The health club ( no extra charge) was good and realxing, it has swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi. The staff, especially the breakfast waitress, were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend staying here.

Came to this hotel on a £19 deal so didn't expect too much - very pleasantly surprised! Our room looked out on to the Bolton Wanderers pitch, this meant we couldn't open windows but what a surreal view! (There were air conditioning and temperature controls in the room so window opening not really required). Room itself was small/standard, and used as a Box on matchdays, with a well-stocked hospitality tray. As we didn't eat at the hotel, the only service we had was from the receptionist who was very friendly and helpful.

Location perfect for us as we came to do some shopping (next to a retail park), eat out (selection was McDonalds, KFC, Subway, Nandos, Pizza Hut, Harvester pub next to the nearby Premier Inn and the hotel's own Brasserie and Restaurant), and enjoy the leisure facilities at the hotel. There's also a Vue cinema and Hollywood Bowl on the retail park so plenty to do. We went to the Harvester pub and enjoyed tasty food there (free unlimited salad bar with every main meal). The leisure facilities in the hotel were done well - free lockers, towels provided, good size changing rooms. There was a nice size pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and sunroom (didn't try this).

All in all, great value.

Arrived at the hotel very late, good easy parking in front of the hotel, and you can't really miss the hotel it being part of the BWFC Reebok Stadium!

I was given a room on the second floor, right at the end of the corridors, I assume that because I'd been given a corporate discounted rate (paid by my company) I wasn't given a particularly good location, certainly not the pitch view room I had hoped for, the view was the car park and a scrap yard!!

Not sure why but i was put in a disabled room which i guess meant I had a slightly larger room, although, it was more 'wide' than long, it was on a corner pitch so just had a strange lay out and didn't feel particularly solid, just like they'd used up a corner of the hotel by putting a flimsy wall up (it was room 338 by the way if you want to avoid). Because it was after 10pm when i got to the room and after a 4 hour drive the last thing i wanted to do was make a fuss and move rooms, even if the twin beds meant i didn't have the luxury of a big bed and i wasn't particularly enamoured by the room itself. The true test came when i closed the door and could hear entire conversations had by guests and staff as they walked down the corridor, could hear every single footstep, every word uttered and certainly every time a trolley or room service was being delivered. Speaking of which I ordered a sandwich and chips at 9.40 and was told it would be 20 mins, at 10.40 it finally arrived, wasn't bad food but fairly average and the lemonade i ordered was just soda water and the tea was cold, didn't care by that point was too tired to eat or drink!! i really really wish i'd walked the two minutes across the road and gone to one of the fast food restaurants there!!

Thankfully the corridor did quieten down at about midnight and i got a good nights sleep, bathroom was clean but not particularly impressed with the shower curtain, very tired looking and an old fashioned and unhygienic item to have in a modern hotel. Bathroom was very big due to it being a disabled room, good shower and big bath but felt only one step up from a travelodge or premier travel inn so far as amenities go. It was all there and all quite clean just a bit dated and stained and far from modern......

I must say i'm slightly disappointed with the room as it has lessened my impression of the hotel which from the outside looks really modern and luxurious, I was expecting so much more from inside. Having stayed at the macdonald manchester the week before I have had my expectation set very high now and this really didn't come up to scratch.

Breakfast was good selection of hot and cold foods and cereals but again nothing above average, did the job nicely and the staff were very friendly.

I had hoped that the De Vere name would live up to the impression it had given me but I'd say its a pretty average hotel, good location and nice staff but if I'd paid for it myself I'd be making a complaint to the hotel itself and would begrudge paying the amount charged.

Hope this helps someone :)

Please note they charge £2.50 extra if you pay your bill by credit card which I have never known before and I guess from this that the hotel might be in some financial trouble. Backing this up they appear to have closed the main restaurant leaving the Bistro & bar the only places to get food.

I must admit that I was a bit disappointed overall. The staff were really helpful and the lobby and public areas were nice but the rooms were not anything special and quite small with an old CRT TV and internet access at some extortionate cost. The food was a bit expensive although nice and the cigarette machine charged £7 for 16 which Is extortionate. I suppose if you got a pitch view room they would be much better so maybe book that in advance.

It would be a great location if you were there for a match and had to stay over or at a conference at the stadium; otherwise there are better value and better quality hotels around.

This is a great hotel in a super location. It's in walking distance of Tesco and Asda and a retail shopping complex. There's also a Harvester pub/restaurant across the road. The hotel itself is part of the football stadium with views of the pitch from the restaurant. There's a health club in the hotel with gym, pool, jacuzzi and steam room. The room itself was spacious, warm and comfortable.
Most impressed!

Booked 2 rooms for £25 each. Had stayed in a De Vere before in Hertfordshire and the double room there was a single one with 2 pillows on the bed. So I had called here first to check out what a twin was here and when I came I was very satisfied. 2 big beds in a, perhaps, smallish room, but everything is in it. Nearby are restaurants and next door a large Tesco. It is close to the motorway.I could definately come back here!

Went to the football match and stayed at this great hotel. Arrived at the reception desk and a Bolton Wanderers footballer was there (got autograph). The receptionist was very pleasant and I was told that we had been upgraded to a pitch view room.

We arrived late and went early next morning so did not have any food but looking at the menu it appeared expensive. The cost of a pint of beer was over £3 at the bar.

Over all it was a very enjoyable stay and will certainly book again when in the area.
