On arrival I was greeted with a smile and check in was a pleasant affair with no problems. The room was a good size, very clean and contained all the usual things you would expect. The bathrooms was again very clean.

I ate in the restaurant in the evening and couldn't fault anything from the food or the service. There was plenty of choice on the menu, something for everyone.

Breakfast was a good choice of cooked and continental.

The only downside was I thought £15 for internet access was a bit expensive.

All in all a good hotel and certainly good value for money so I will certainly stay here again when I am in the area.

Very deserving of it's tourist board inspected **** rating. Reception staff all very professional, courteous and helpful, as were all the domestic staff I came in contact with. My room was very clean and well made up on my arrival, and fitted out with a very comfortable Emporer sized bed and high quality furniture and furnishings. Breakfast was one of the best I've ever had in a UK hotel, and couldn't really be improved upon.

That old adage of "You get what you pay for" certainly does NOT hold true for accommodation in my experience. I paid literally £1 more for my room here, than my room the following night at The Pack Horse Hotel in Bolton town centre... which was an absolute disgrace by comparison with the De Vere White in every way.

I usually make a point of not recommending hotels to others, simply because such opinions are subjective by definition. Thus what I like, someone else may not. That said, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone; singles, couples and families. You can get some exceptionally good room rates too if you're prepared to spend time surfing the net. I only stayed one night (sadly), but I got my room for a genuine discount of more than fifty pounds off the normal rates after booking through laterooms. It felt like a real "go on, go mad, spoil yourself" hotel, but on this occasion at least, for a price almost half what you would expect to pay at a never-too-pleasing Travelodge, never mind a proper **** hotel.

Paid £25 a night for what I thought was room only basis for myself, husband and ds (1). Decided to treat ourselves to breakfast each morning at a cost of £7.50pp then on check out found out it was included in the £25 price!! Bargain!

Hotel itself was lovely, staff very friendly and really good with ds. Pool was small but big enough for what we used it for, didn't use the gym but it looked well equiped and clean. Didn't eat main meals in the hotel so can't comment on them.

Room was a bit Holiday Inn Express like but clean and quiet, all public areas were clean and tidy.

Horwich Station is 5 minute walk and £3.20 return to Manchester - another bargain!

Would definately return if I could get the £25 deal again.

Just spent a wonderful weekend at Whites!

The hotel is elegantly integrated into the Bolton football stadium, which, for a football stadium, is a thing of beauty (pity the next door retail park didn't show a bit more design imagination!). Inside the public areas are impressive and the check in staff were friendly and cheerful.

The room and bathroom were modern, classy, clean and had a magnificent view of the football pitch! It was either a shame or a blessing that there was no match on. It was certainly one of the more unusual views I've had from a hotel bedroom. The bed was comfortable, the room had air-con (not required that often in Bolton if the weather for our weekend was anything to go by!).

The hotel is a long way from Bolton, it's actually in the neighbouring town of Horwich. This is actually not a bad thing because, whilst Horwich itself is nothing to write home about, it is on the edge of some rather pretty hill walking country. There is a train that goes from outside the hotel which takes you to Bolton in about 1/4 of an hour, Manchester in half an hour or Blackpool in, er, not long! The retail park next door has a Vue muliplex cinema and there are a few (bland chain) places to eat there too.

We had buffet breakfasts in the hotel which was very good really for the price with a decent selection of hot and cold food. The bar and restaurant in the hotel looked nice but the prices were higher than the places surrounding the hotel so we didn't eat or drink there.

The pictures of the swimming pool and fitness facilities looked nice but we didn't use them.

All in all it's a proper, modern hotel - there aren't a lot of those in and around Bolton. Basically why would you want to stay anywhere else around the area if you can get a decent deal and stay here?

Booked in just for the 1 night, found it without any problem. Check in no problem and then found our room.

Very clean and comfy, we then used the swimmingpool etc, had a very relaxed afternoon.

Went for Breakfast at a cost of £7.50 a head but as we only paid £19. for the room felt it was very good value for 2 adults.

Lovely breakfast and very attentive staff.

Would love to go back really enjoyed our short stay

Stayed at De Vere Whites over Easter with my husband and two teenagers. We had an interconnecting room which I found great.
We stay here quite often and the staff acknowledge this.
The rooms are very nice and quite a good size. Reasonably comfortable beds with typical white bedding for standard of hotel.Coffee and tea making facilities, trouser press, hairdrier and I think (not sure) iron and ironing board. T.V with digital channels.
Leisure facilities very nice. Towels provided.
Breakfasts are £7.50 and are average. Not eaten in restaurant as we like to go out to our old favourite restaurants.
Great location, hotel built into the Reebok Stadium. Lot`s going on around. Train station a few minutes walk away with trains to Bolton/ Manchester or Blackpool.
My husband and I are Bolton born and bred but we moved away 8 years ago. We like this hotel and given the choice on offer in the area it is up there with the best and I would recommend.a stay there. Going again Bank Holiday weekend.
We use this hotel as a base to visit family and friends. It`s great for friends to come and join us in the bar/lounge for a drink as there is plenty of room there.

We took advantage of a special offer of £19 per room per night for this hotel chain, for our wedding anniversary. De Vere Whites, while supposedly being much more upmarket than we normally use, provided us with a very ordinary room, a small bathroom with cracked tiles, and absolutely NO soundproofing whatever from the surrounding rooms. My husband was able to quite clearly hear, at one point, somebody actually using the toilet in an adjoining room! There was a connecting door between ours and the next room, and it felt as though its occupants were sharing with us. When I rang reception to ask for a move, they told me they were fully booked and were sorry that they couldn't oblige.

Having been forewarned on this site to avoid the restaurant, we ate out and only used the hotel for breakfast. £7.50 is the average charge in budget hotels for that, and average is the word I'd used to describe the breakfast. Tasteless scrambled egg was not my idea of good quality, although the rest of the available food was of an acceptable standard.

I certainly wouldn't return.

Stayed here over Easter with my wife and two adult children. Found the hotel rooms comfortable and clean, and the service friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good, with self-service and good choice of food. They allowed one of us with special dietary needs to eat their own food in the dining room and not be charged.

My husband and I stayed in the De Vere Whites Hotel whilst attending a family Christening in Bolton. The novelty of staying in a hotel built into the actual stadium building was certainly a deciding factor when choosing accommodation, as well as the price being fairly reasonable (although I do feel that breakfast being included in the price would have made the price easier to swallow!) On arriving at the stadium/hotel we were very impressed with the entrance and reception area- very modern, vibrant and really quite classy. The receptionist was very friendly and professional. The bedroom was clean and well-equipped, however on closer inspection there were aspects of it that were looking a bit shabby; the desk had quite a few chips in it and the edges of the carpet were starting to look warn. Moving onto the bathroom, the mirrors were all chipped around the edges and the grouting between the floor tiles and likewise the wall tiles were looking grubby and worn and I'm not sure whether this was down to poor cleaning or just age (the hotel is now 9 years old and I just feel that it's time for them to start carrying out a bit of maintenence/redecorating). Also some little touches were lacking slightly for the expected standard of a 4* hotel, for example there was only a bar of soap and a minature shampoo- no shower gel, conditioner, shower cap etc that you often get in the bathroom. All the above comments are fairly minor however (just an honest account) and on the whole the bedroom and bathroom were clean, but just starting to show signs of age! We phoned for room service as we arrived just too late to catch restaurants or take-aways nearby. The receptionist had told us that we could order anything from the menu before midnight. It was 11.30 and when the girl arrived with the food she had a bit of a whinge at us that the chef wasn't happy because he'd just put all the food back into the fridges when the order came through! We thought it a bit unprofessional of her to point that out considering the high price of the room service menu! The food wasn't very nice at all! Likewise most of the elements of the breakfast were of poor quality compared to most 4* hotels we have visited. Ending on a high note, there was a fantastic gentleman called John on the concierge desk who when we asked if we could have a look at the football ground itself, was more than accommodating and took us up to the 'Reflections' restaurant area where there was a huge window with a pitch view and proceeded to tell us all about the history of the stadium and gave us an on the spot tour! I cannot praise him enough! In conclusion, the general appearance of the hotel, public areas, corridors and rooms was clean, modern and vibrant. Looking at things more closely there were tell tale signs that some renovation work is now due. The staff on the whole were very friendly and helpful, but the food , considering its price (neither the room service menu nor the breakfast- £7.50 per head) was not of a particularly high standard. I would recommend the hotel to friends/family but I would advise people to eat outside the hotel including breakfast- there is a big Tescos Extra directly next door to the stadium and I'm sure that a nicer and cheaper breakfast could be enjoyed there!

Hotel looks very good at reception and also the bar area is excellent. The room I was in was however not that large. There was a king side bed which took up most the the space and felt like it was two beds put together. The rooms had a iron /board etc but lack that something special you would expect in this standard of hotel.Bathroom was ok ,clean but not alot of room.Cannot pass judgement on the food as I never ate in the hotel.

The Hotel is in a good location close to the M61 and Horwich Parkway station. It is part of the Bolton football stadium and some of the rooms double as executive boxes on matchdays which gives them a worn look.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the Hotel is modern clean and tidy .The breakfast is good.
On the downside the hotel is a little soulless . The large bar/lounge seemed far too big for the few customers scattered around.
I was surprised to see the staff in the breakfast room sweeping crumbs from the tables on to the floor and surrounding seats rather than a dustpan.

As you pull up to the hotel you notice how spectacular the place looks. A really unique hotel as it is fixed to the side of Bolton Wanderers Football Ground!
My wife and myself stayed for one night while visiting family in Manchester. We managed to book a fantastic rate on the De Vere website because we booked last minute. We paid £29 room only (normally around £70) so it was fantastic value.
When we arrived at check in they had no record of our booking, which was unreal considering we had booked online 3 days before. The reception woman seemed quite fed up and miserable. When the next shift came on they seemed alot more happy though.
We soon managed to get a room as the place wasn't even half full. Our room was spacious, warm and clean.
Facilities were excellent, a nice little pool, sauna, gym, steam room and great views of the ground and pitch if you are a football fan. I have to say i loved it!!
We decided to eat out in the evening as the hotel restaurant seemed a bit over priced. We ate in Scotts Winebar just turn right out of the hotel entrance. The food was excellent and very reasonable, we had 2 courses and a bottle of wine for £30!
Breakfast was superb, everything you can imagine and more, all fresh, the cooked breakfast was excellent and is on until 10am.
This hotel is easy to find from the motorway as you just follow the signs for Boltons Football ground.
Checkout was fast and to top a greats night stay they forgot to charge us for our breakfasts! They should have been £7.50 each! So all in all an excellent stay, fully enjoyable. By the way the locals are so friendly it puts us southerners to shame! Enjoy.

Bolton/Chorley/Preston/North Manchester is an area with plenty of hotels, most of them sub-standard. For the area, De Vere Whites is above average -- but I stress that is FOR THE AREA. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Service is the high point -- all the staff appear to be genuinely pleased to have you there and to be able to help. Nothing is too much trouble. Parking is no problem. But the food is so-so (breakfasts are much better than dinners) and in any European country other than the UK the price would be considered outrageous. Why do we have to pay these rates? It's a tax on business that other conutries just don't have to deal with.

stayed at this hotel for 1 night for a business conference. The hotel was easy to find and check in was quick and friendly.
My room was hard to find as i didnt see the signs behind me with the room numbers on (my fault!) once I found my room, i got in and it was spacious, clean and the bed was nice a comfy.

The restaurant was nice, but we chose to eat at the bar as there was a match on, however they let us oreder form the restaurant menu and eat it in the bar and the food was lovely and wholesome.

the conference took place in the stadium, which was a bit of a walk away but once we got there all out rooms where side by side so not a problem.

lunch in the restaurant was great, there was wide selection of hot food e.g. lemon chicken, pasta and more.

would definately use this hotel again for business or leisure.

i have stayed in the hotel a couple of times on business and the last time i stayed i was on a business function with my wife and i upgraded to a suite. now the hotel has always been modern. but from now on i will be staying in the very spacious suites.

bar staff are always pleasant and friendly check in and check out excellent. breakfast is always good(pay the fiver to have it delivered to your room its a lot better). the only downside is it the rooms can be a little cold in winter(extra blankets are there for usage)

overall if your staying price up the suites as there wasnt a massive difference from a standard room

We stayed just one night 9th August for the Worlds Best Elvis Concert at Bolton Arena next door. It was easy to get to just off the motorway, but not noisy. We had a great time, the hotel is fantastically located at one end of the Reebok Stadium, so you have fooball, the arena and a large retail park on the doorstep. We stayed in a Standard Double room. Nice room, clean linen, clean bathroom and beautiful white towels, only criticism was that the room was dusty, carpet edges and above the bed, hotel management please note for when we come again.

I stayed here on a business trip and it is pretty fascinating walking into a hotel, which is part of a football stadium.

Reception staff are excellent, extremely helpful, courteous and friendly.

Th rooms are of an adequate size, clean and the bed is comfortable.

The only thing that really let the place down was the "Brasserrie" Restaurant. The service was sloppy and extremely slow. I waited half an hour for a drink, then my desert order came wrong, when it did actually arrive. The staff seemed unable to deal with customer complaints, just shrugging it off with a sheepish " sorry".

All the attention seemed to focus on one couple who obviously intended spending big bucks holding a wedding there. Its a shame that they did not realise that by ignoring and forgetting the rest of the diners, the happy couple could hear nothing but the mutterings and complaints about service!!

I would not recomend the Brasserie but other than that the hotel is a good enough base for business.

I stayed at this hotel, as I was spekaing at a conference at the Reebok stadium, thus was incredibly convenient. I arrived at the hotel following a 7 hour train journey in horrible weather, and it was a relief that I was checked in and in my room within 5 minutes of arriving at the hotel. My check out the following morning was similarly efficient, and conducted in a polite, friendly and professional manner.
My room was of good size and well equipped with hairdryer and iron/ ironing board. As I was too tired to be bothered to go to the restaurant, I opted for room service. Whilst this was pricey (isn't room service always!), the ordering system was without issue and eventhough I was told that my order would take 30minutes, it was in my room within 20 minutes. For room service, I would rate the quality of food as pretty good.
I had an excellent stay at this efficient hotel, and couldn't find fault with any aspect of my stay.

Overall a great experience - of course I can only comment on the stay from my perspective, which as it was organised by work then I cannot comment on the financial aspects!

I stayed for one night on the 5th March. Arrived 8pm; greeted by very professional staff, very quick to process me (despite three people being in front) and everything done with a minimum of fuss. I was given a room on the 6th floor (room 714). The hotel is totally smoke free.

When I opened the room - wow. I'd been upgraded to a penthouse suite!! They must have been full, as the jeans and t-shirt dont usually have that affect (and believe me work are not that generous!)

The suite itself was superb - very clean, not damaged/soiled at all, & large. Hopefully the pictures do the room justice.

Went out with a colleague for a meal in Manchester, came back around 11.30pm - security on the door, polite & professional. Bar area very clean & relaxed in very comfortable surroundings.

Breakfast in the morning - excellent choice and standard. Checkout took literally 30 seconds, again professional.

So overall - a wonderful stay. As I said before, I can only take things as I see them - you may not have the joy of a penthouse suite or may think you've been overcharged - fair enough. But from my perspective - an awesome stay!

The hotel is part of the Reebok stadium and is located adjacent to junction 6 of the M61, quite a way from Bolton town centre. There is plenty of parking but the car park will be more crowded if Bolton Wanderers are playing at home. Room rates here vary hugely it was worth shopping around for the best deal, try booking well in advance. Reception staff were pleasant and efficient. Many housekeeping staff don't appear to speak English which could be a problem if you need to ask for anything. The room was fine, modern in design with double bed, dressing table, TV, lounger chair and table. The bathroom was fine. One problem - the hairdryer cut out after 30 seconds, luckily I didn't have an important meeting to attend! There was plenty of hanging space for clothes but no drawers. Breakfast was a standard hotel buffet with hot choices, cerals, breads but not much fruit. The gym was quite small but I suppose that is to be expected in a hotel. If you like English beer, I recommend the Pendle Witch pub in nearby Atherton.

My wife and I booked a suite for a quick get away. Ok the hotel is essntially part of a footbal stadium but it does little to detract from it once inside.

The room was very modern, open plan with screens and spacious. The bed was delightful. A very nice stay for couples and indeed busines travellers.

The reception staff were not welcoming and came across as snobbish. On check in my wife was told in a very matter of fact unapologetic way that we couldn't have a smoking room. Even though this was what we booked and had written confirmation of that fact. However my wife being the woman that she is mirrored the receptionists attitude and the non-existent smoking room suddenly materialised. I would say frankly the receptionist was very rude and I have seen better welcomes at Hostels.

A shame as the hotel has a lot to offer of course it would be wrong to judge all staff on the basis of one person but first impressions last.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year with my partner, unfortunately I was unwell whilst I was there, I had the dreaded flu.

This hotel was easy to find, located within the Reebok Stadium which I thought was amazing, I have never seen a football stadium before, I only live in Rhyl! The reception was large, polite helpful reception staff, first impressions, very good.

The room was modern, nicely decorated, a nice bathroom, clean and comfortable.

Leisure club, nice, clean, free lockers, free towels, steam room, jacuzzi and sauna. It wasnt too busy in there so that was nice.

There was a wedding on at the hotel on the Saturday and what did annoy me was they thought they owned the place, very rude - but I avoided them all as much as possible!

We ate in a pub just over the way on both nights, the food was lovely there. We did not go into Bolton but there was a large retail park within walking distance with a cinema, bowling and several shops. There was also a 24 hour asda which was useful for me, i needed more medication for my flu, Asda was right next door.

Breakfast in the mornings, the 1st morning I was unhappy with the seats we were awarded, they did not ask if it was ok so we didnt really get and choice or a chance to ask to move, we were shoved on a tiny table under a false palm tree. We did not get asked on the 1st morning if we wanted tea or coffee and the staff were too busy running round after what I think were the guests from the wedding the day before. The 2nd morning, great seat, better service and got a pot of tea too! Food was nice at breakfast, lots of choice, full english, as much toast as you want and also cereals and crumpets.

Overall, if I hadnt have been ill, my stay at this hotel would have been good, would have been even better if the wedding guests werent as rude and ignorant as they were.

booked this hotel through hotel website (which was suprisingly cheaper than a lot of last minute websites) got a great deal of £58 for the room including breakfast. The hotel is easy to find as it is built into the reebok stadium! There are plenty of parking spaces!! and there is a retail park within walking distance where there are several shops, and a few fast food places + a bowling alley with a bar- which can be useful as you cannot pay cash at the hotel bar after 11! We were told you had to have put credit on your room card to be able to purchase a drink after this time! The hotel was lovely - and clean throughout. We used the swimming pool area which was quite small but still very nice. We were dissapointed that there were only around 10 hotel rooms with views onto the pitch - and we were not lucky enough to be allocated one of these. Although you can get a good view of the pitch from the restaurant. The rooms were very clean, and the staff helpful. At breakfast there was plenty of choice and the food was lovely! Had a great time here and would definately stop here again!
