The receptionist was helpful and she sorted a couple of issues for me.

I held my 80th Birthday celebration at this Hotel for 50+ guests and had a most memorable day in the Ashton Suite. The whole occasion was done most professionally the food was first class and the staff most courteous. I would most certainly recommend the hotel for special occasions. I have stayed at the hotel many times and this particular weekend the family and guests also stayed and I have had all positive comments!

The room was professionally dressed by Lisa Jane which was beautiful with chandeliers etc. Libby served our table and was lovely as were all of the staff that we didn't get the names of. I have put a photo to show the room.

On the face of it this is a high end hotel for Bolton, ideally situated in the heart of the town centre with very easy access to the motor-way network, and Manchester airport is easily reached with 30 minutes. To be honest the first 24 hours of the stay would have scored very badly, however the hotel management did step and rescue what would have been a very poor experience. From a negative point of view the reception team were poor and seemed to have little understanding nor common sense when dealing with their customers, and I found myself having to return to the reception Iphone in hand to prove that the room allocated was not in the correct configuration. The restaurant was closed which was poor, however the hotel management pt this down to a mis-communication. in essence the hotel was busy with a conference with the majority of guests dining in one room, meaning that the hotel maybe guessed that there was no need to open the restaurant. Breakfast one was luke war and with a dirty toaster. On the a better note the hotel management were quick to acknowledge that standards were not to the their usual high and the 2nd day was so much better so for me i have put the first down to just one of those things that happen.

Stayed here one night on business. The staff are friendly and helpful the room was clean and I had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was standard however all the staff wished me good morning and that made the difference. I had no problems here and would stay again if am in Bolton. There is also a gym and pool I didn't use but my colleague did and he was pleased with the facility.

I got to this hotel and was disappointed. Due to a lack of competition, the owners spend hardly any money on the rooms. The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment.

Having said that, it is a quirky place. The staff are friendly. The wi-fi (free) is high speed and excellent. Here are my good and bad:

GOOD

- Wi-fi (free)
- Breakfast
- Staff
- Bed
- Clean
- Firm pillows
- Powerful shower

BAD

- Needs urgent updating
- Shower is too low
- Bar food average, not great and very expensive
- Air con is rubbish

I would stay there again but not in the summer months.

Looks good initially but for the price it's a bit scruffy ! Rooms are comfortable and relatively clean although the bath looked like it could've had a good scrub !!! We had the breakfast at £10 and it was dreadful the staff seemed uninterested and the english breakfast was luke warm as was the served tea and coffee .... they ran out of mugs so customers had to use the ones off tables not used .... will be spending my money elsewhere if I ever stay in a holiday inn again !!!

Stayed for one night whilst attending an event in Bolton. The room was clean and comfortable with free wifi. Hotel was typical of this kind of chain- nothing special. The best thing about the hotel is that if you choose to have breakfast it is served until 12.00 at weekends which is excellent if you have had a late night at an event. The breakfast is self service Buffett and reasonable value for money. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Was here as part of a charity fundraising night - the staff were very helpful & polite & did everything they could to make the evening run smoothly. The food was excellent as was the service. Only downfall was there wasn`t enough staff on either of the bars to cope with the amount of people - other than that an excellent evening.

A nice hotel, but awful parking. IF you can find a space in the underground car park then you're lucky, BUT they are terribly tight spaces ....otherwise the hotel will provide a voucher for an open air car park nearby. otherwise this is a standard Holiday Inn, with clean, pleasant rooms and friendly service. Breakfast was a bit of a rush as the kitchen had not planned as well as could be expected and there was a long wait whilst they replenished the hot food. whilst the food was good, the waiting and queuing was not. however for a chain hotel what was lacking in planning was made up by the friendly and helpful staff who always had a smile.

Another hotel that does what it says on the tin. Comfortable rooms with upgrade potential. Good breakfasts. Dinner a bit limited but well cooked. Event kept away from lounge areas so there is plenty of space to sit.

Compared to a few years ago it appears that the hotel has declined and seems a little run down.

Breakfast was very poor. Coffee machine broke down twice, very few cups/glasses with some of them dirty, table not set with missing cutlery, cold section of buffet was empty and it took 25 mins before they topped it up. Service was poor and the staff were unmotivated with no attention to detail or customer service.

About as good as you'll get in town centre Bolton. Free parking and wi-fi but drinks are pricey. Try the pub or casino across the road. Seems expensive Tuesday & Wednesday when the hotel is busy.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Bolton Centre for 2 weeks. Overall a good experience - I had a clean, well maintained room and service at the reception, restaurant and bar was prompt and courteous.. that to me was the best part of the stay. Our server at the restaurant (Ann, I believe) was particularly accommodating and pleasant! The hotel is centrally located and several restaurants, malls are at walking distance. There is a starbucks in the vicinity. The only downer for me was that I got a room with twin beds as all double bed rooms were taken.. Im not a fussy sleeper but this was slightly uncomfortable since the bed was too narrow and had wheels. All in all a decent stay!

Bed was comfortable and spacious, Only real issue was we were only given one free breakfast between us, we had to pay for the 2nd breakfast, I thought this was strange... was good if you like a fried breakfast though. Bar was expensive also!!!

Hotel amenities, service & room all perfectly fine for an overnight/short stay. Easy access to motorways & with underground parking. Generous breakfast. Location in incompletely rejuvenated city centre but would return here if needed to stay in Bolton again.

This Holiday Inn is located in the centre of Bolton. It has underground parking however when I arrived this was full so I parked on the street 100 metres away.

The rooms are typical Holiday Inn. Queen size bed, good bathroom with overhead shower.

I ate in the restaurant and the food was fine. Only two girls serving the whole place was potentially worrying but I had no complaints I was well looked after.

If the centre of Bolton is your chosen location then give the Holiday Inn a try. They will do their best to make you welcome and ensure you enjoy your stay.

I recently stayed in Holiday Inn, Bolton Center for 13 Nights and the take away is that this hotel thrives on the staff and not so much on the hotel policies.

The policy of No Water in the room is just plain strange and difficult to understand, i along with a colleague arrived in the hotel late in the around 9:30 PM and found that there is no water in the room and with all the shops closed nearby had to buy a 300ml bottle from the hotel bar for 3.5 GBP.
There is no iron in the room but is made quickly available on request. Some of the iron boards don't work however but staff changed the same cheerfully and quickly.

Aside from the noise made by the entrance door located near my room (i had specifically asked for a room away from any disturbances but still given this room) the room though small (as compared to other hotels) was fine and blocked any other sounds from the road. There was a bug in the room one day but not thereafter, i am assuming that the same was taken care off.The heater worked only sporadicaly but the AC worked fine.

Breakfast spread was ok for 10 GBP but was made special by the friendly chef and the team handling the breakfast specailly Deepak who went out of his way to help me with some vegetarian choices. He made me feel at home and was instrumental in improving my stay at the hotel. The chef also helped me with vegetarian choices and always greeted cheerfully. The pastries and danish spread sometimes ran out but again the staff made something available.

Staff at the reception was friendly, helpful and in general greeted in a cheerful manner.
There was only one incident where the call at the reception was not picked up.

There are lot of eating options nearby and also a mall with some international brands like H&M and ZARA.
There is a casino just opposite the road and provides entertainment if you are up for it.

All in all a stay which was better than i expected (after first day's experience), will i stay here again? I think i would.
Kudos to the staff for taking the hotel above average.

Room very clean, staff very friendly even when they are very busy. The breakfast was very tasty but staff did not come check everything was okay and we had no milk for our hot drinks so had to take it off another table which meant the other table had no milk, we did try to get their attention but as they were so busy they did not notice. The bed was comfy and everything we needed was available. Nice added touches in the room. The staff (front of house and bar), I could not fault them they really did have the attitude of nothing was to much.
Only negative was that the room was very hot but the fans did cool the room down quickly but are very noisey.
Would certainly stay again as was a very comfy stay and would recommened to people.

Booked this hotel at very short notice after having been bumped from the Mercure Last drop and offered a hotel a long way away. So for a start, it's better than that place.

Good, helpful, efficient service. But it opened in the early 90s and some of the facilities are clearly still of that era. The shower in my 'executive' room was frankly grubby, and when I tried to turn on the air-conditioning in my room there was such a racket that I decided I would prefer a quiet, if hot, night.

Having said that the bed was comfortable and the room was as clean as it could reasonably be given the clear lack of investment. And for once in a hotel like this the wifi was reliable. It's a bit like Bolton itself, really - it's seen better days. Let's hope that both of them get the stimulus they need to improve soon.

This hotel worked well for us. We were visiting the Octagon theatre and it was close by. The room was good and clean and had everything we needed and space to put all our stuff. We had an executive room.
The room wasn't ready when we arrived but they gave us free tea and scones while we waited!
We came back to spend time in the bar after the play with friends and the staff were good.
Next morning the breakfast was very good. I got exactly what I wanted and it didn't take long, and that's just what you want in the morning. Really very good.

Booked in here for one night expecting that it would be of a reasonable standard - and it was. Parking is tight as one contributor pointed out, but the upside is that you get free parking in a central hotel. Tick. Reception staff were great both at initial check-in and when I returned to ask for a room change as I didn't want to be next to a lift. All dealt with happily and, even before I had accessed the new room, the ironing board/iron I 'd requested was there waiting for me. Tick. Lovely service in the bar. Tick. We ate in the bar too which had a good menu, and enjoyed it all. Tick. Our room was perfectly adequate with enough space for two 'girls' and their stuff- tea/coffee & kettle provided. Tick. The bathroom smelt a bit damp- our only quibble. Wifi was free throughout the hotel and signal strong. Tick. As for the overall experience - great service and hotel facilities as expected.

Bit of a problem checking in - we had pre booked/pre paid, but we did get the family room we had ordered.

The room was on the top/4th floor, so no road noise. Unfortunately one of the two lifts was out of action.

The large room itself was excellent. A King size bed as well as a single, and a double sofa bed which had been made up when we arrived. The bathroom was also large, with a shower attachment over the bath as well as a separate, large, shower enclosure.

The television had a wide choise oc channels and wifi (free) worked well.

A bar meal was quikly served - tasty and hot.

Breakfast was also good with wide choice of hot items and free newspapers.
