stayed weekend of 26th June for my daughters prom night. Rooms lovely and modern more like suites with sofas double and single bed. Lovely sized bathrooms. Bar area was nice and spacious if not a little expensive but for a hotel average prices. Welcoming friendly staff.
Breakfast was self serve option which there was plenty of options to choose from and was lovely.
All in all a pleasent stay
Would definatly recommend

Everything about the Hotel is top class.

Reception staff lovely.
Beds comfy.
Shower nice.
Breakfast was good. :-)

One negative... bloody swimming lessons whilst we're trying to relax during a business trip.

Chap was having the kids swimming the only sensible straight channel, up and down, up and down, up and down, coaxing every stroke.
Couldn't even talk to my colleague 'cos his voice echo'd around the room.
Rubbish shaped Pool too.
May stay at Macron Stadium next time as this has happened on the last 3 visits now, not on! :-(

Stayed for one night on a Saturday night. Nice welcome at Reception friendly helpful staff. Had Room 126 on first floor which was advised could be noisy due to a Wedding in function room. We were out ourselves until after midnight so cant say what it was like for noise as wasnt in room. Room was very clean couldnt fault anything would definately stay again.

We booked this hotel as it was near where we needed to be...Also great for the town centre. .On arrival the check in lady Angela gave us a very friendly greeting, was professional and very helpful. (She was also there to check us out in the morning) Our room was very clean and I must say the bed was quite comfortable. We didnt stay for breakfast so cant comment but it did smell lovely! Bedroom was a bit tired looking. Overall a pleasant stay.

This is my 4th stay here and it has been another great stay. I am always greeted as a Gold card holder. When I booked in Angela on reception realised that my room would be affected by the noise from the next evening's Prom, so arranged with housekeeping to move me to a new room the next day, my bags were moved to the new room, whilst I was out for the day. So thank you to Angela, Diane and housekeeping

Does this hotel meet IHG standards for a Holiday Inn? I wouldn't be surprised if it was rebranded as a "Best Western" or some other downmarket brand. The welcome was reasonably friendly, although I was not offered my points or a drink for being a IHG member and had to ask for them. Usually, Platinum are upgraded. The room I got must be one of the worst in the hotel...dark, terrible view and shabby bordering on the manky.

The rooms are classic Holiday Inn 1970's, including the retro hairdryer attached the wall and dated wooden furniture. The toilet seat is broken and manky (see photo attached). It takes a handyman about 15 minutes to change a broken toilet seat.. it just is a lack of care. It has clearly been broken for ages. The toilet flush mechanism barely works and without the graphic details, has to be flushed 3 times to be fully functional. I'll post the view...essentially a brick wall and scaffolding casting a dark shadow over the room. The cost of this was £104 not including breakfast.

It is not a horror show. It is basically clean and functional. It is just dated, tired, old fashioned and shabby. Not fixing things like the toilet seat and flush mechanism is just indicative of a lack of care and attention to detail. It definitely isn't worth £104. I suggest you go to the Holiday Inn Media City and compare... I often pay significantly less for that...and it is like comparing night and day.

Very comfortable. Pleasant and helpful staff (reception & restaurant).

Room clean & warm. Pretty central (20 mins walk to the uni). Decent, pleasant interior. Typical urban location....but quiet; no particular views.

Food decent; no complaints - (nice cooked) breakfast.

2 areas for improvement!

1. Would be helpful to have access to desktop (to do e-mails etc)

2. (My fault but) bounced on bed & cracked my head on hard wood bed-head! Soft bed head would have been handy!

Overall = GOOD, if a bit 'neutral' / less than characterful....

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Bolton many times. Not a lot of hotels in the area but this one always looks after you. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Room service good too. King size rooms great. Thanks for the free upgrade. Free wifi in room. Pool not open today so will just have to have a wee drink in the bar instead. Will be back next time I am in Bolton.

Price was reasonable but there was a try charge which a lot of hotels are now scrapping .. Wifi was ok breakfast was busy the hot counter choice wasn't extensive but they had what I wanted overall very good in a good location

I was expecting a much better facility for a hotel with 4**** rating. Rooms were not very clean and tidy, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was below my expectations. Not cooked properly especially eggs and bacon. The plates and cutlery were dirty.

After an horrendous journey to the Holiday Inn (due to hold ups on the motorway), I was welcomed with a huge smile from the receptionist which immediately made me feel at ease. The room was clean and adequate. Breakfast was fine but think overpriced for what it is. Excellent location for town centre and bonus of free car parking. I didn't realise that they had a pool and gym on site much to my disappointment. The staff were very friendly but a great big thank you to Angela for everything she did to help me. Nothing was too much trouble for her. So all in all I would definately stay at this Holiday Inn again.

A good clean friendly hotel where efficiency reigns supreme.

A very fast check on/out, a pleasant reception desk, clean room and good food, breakfast is worth that little extra.

Our room was on the 4th floor, nice and quiet, far enough from the lifts not to have any noise from guests moving around.

A good 3rd stay.

Check in clerk was brilliant from moment of arrival. I asked for air con, as I was expecting and overheated, it didn't work. The service in the restaurant was mediocre, but the food was decent. The room was standard, but it was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again, but I would eat elsewhere.

Staff, food, service is excellent, stayed here for the past 3 years several times, whilst visiting my daughter at UNI. Very friendly and extremely help full. Best Holiday Inn i have ever stayed at...I have traveled across England with my daughter for the last 10 years, for her sport, to get her to National's, and this has come up the best.

Hotel was clean along with the bedroom clean linen beds very comfy would stay again. What I won't do next time is buy food or drinks from them. A snack of chicken and bacon sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup £18. Don't even bother about a drink some friends met us so,decided to have a drink before we went out. Two glasses of rose wine a bottle of non alcoholic lager and a pint of lager £19 how they justify these prices I will never know. Having said that in with our price included breakfast which we could not fault.

Impressive venue for a function, my daughter was singing at the year end ball for Bolton university. The staff were very helpful giving me advice and help setting our P.A. system up. Did not have chance on this occasion to use all the hotels facilities but will definitely stop here again. Accommodation good value for money, however I thought the meals were a bit pricey and I was overcharged by quite a lot for drinks at the bar.(In their defence this was rectified after I brought this to the attention of the bar manager}

My husband and I recently got married on 9th May, 2015. Our ceremony was held at Bolton Parish Church, which was out of this world. We then went to the Holiday Inn, Bolton for our Wedding Breakfast and Reception. After months of planning, everything went brilliantly. The food at the Wedding Breakfast was awesome - everybody commented how good it was. The Reception was excellent. Brilliant DJ, and superb buffet. Everyone thought our choices were spot on, and kept asking what the sausages were (with the mash and onion gravy), as they enjoyed them so much, together with everything else that was served up. Special mention for the fish and chip cones. Our thanks must go to the chef, Keith. Our special thanks also go to Emma for all her hard work in organising our event, and Paul who did a superb job taking care of us throughout the Wedding Breakfast and Reception. Thank you very much to the both of you for making our special day to wonderful. Our thanks also go to Lisa Jane for the brilliant decorations. We stayed over at the hotel on the night of our wedding. We couldn't believe the room, as we had a room next door with a sofa and an extra television. Absolutely brilliant day, we cannot thank you all enough.

Stayed recently (April 15). Just an overnight, standard room but clean and comfortable. Receptionist, on arrival, was brilliant. Always nice when you feel welcome from the moment you step through the door! I decided to eat in the restaurant in the evening - it was empty - I always laugh when asked "have you booked?"
First couse and drinks were quick, second course reasonably swift, second drink never arrived - had to query it - "didn't they bring it" asked the guy I ordered it from.... Would I ask if they had, I thought....
Ordered cheese for dessert - after 32 minutes I had to ask again and was told the kitchen was very busy - restaurant was 2/3rds empty, and it's not my fault if they are understaffed! No coffee - nobody asked, no bill, no "did the earth move" I wandered to the till, gave my room number and left - the food was very good, by the way, shame about the service,
One last comment - the website says "limited parking" so I parked in a public car park - only to be told there are "184 spaces here"......

My stay was just one night near the bus stop for my walk back to the hotel and I had good information when I enquiry for my last bus back from a gig that I had gone to and had a good time, The room was good and there was a bit of noise from the traffic but the room had very good glazing to stop a lot of noise from coming in, as this room was at the front of this hotel.

This room had the basic twin beds so I had a choice of which one to sleep in and it was very clean, Yes I would use this Hotel for my visits to Bolton.

This is a nicely located hotel in the centre of Bolton. The car park is underground, although the spaces are a little tight with the option to hit concrete pillars if you are not careful. Once inside the hotel, the lady on reception was very pleasant and efficient. The room was a good size, the only problem was that there were no electric sockets near the bed, I need to plug in my phone overnight. Breakfast could have been better, but not many people were eating that morning, so the hot food just sits there.

This is a large, modern hotel centrally located within the Bolton Inner Ring Road and also within easy walking distance of the covered market and the main shopping area. We received a great welcome on our arrival and enjoyed our overnight stay. Rooms are very clean and nicely appointed. There is free parking for guests in either the underground or surface car parks. I'm glad to have found this hotel and will definitely use again if in the area.
