I found the restaurant staff to be most helpful. The swimming pool was extremely quiet the morning that I went, so was lovely. I was able to swim my lengths very comfortably. The room was adequate, although the bathroom was quite dated. The location excellent, right in the centre of the town behind Debenhams.

I stayed here for one night in August 2014 and had a really good experience. Really big room which was clean and comfortable. The staff couldn't have been more helpful despite their system having been down since lunchtime and the food in the restaurant was very good. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We returned to the hotel after a pleasant stay earlier this year and the fantastic staff remembered us. We had a great stay just a shame about the rain. The food was good, worth a little wait. Thanks again.

Excellent room, we stayed in family room very large with double and single bed with settee and full bathroom. Staff very polite and full buffet hot breakfast gave a good start to the day. Free parking availability on site at hotel for the duration of stay very useful with being in town centre.

I stayed here for a couple of nights with my mum, as when I Googled the area, this came up, and I can always assume I know what to expect with a Holiday Inn.
I was right. The standard of service, the rooms, the facilities - all as expected. But - the atmosphere was 'tired', the hotel could do with a face-lift. Nothing in particular, just felt that way.
The check-in was excellent, the room was clean, the bar meals were great, breakfast was good - though ran out of stuff frequently and you had to wait for more.
Service - reception very good. Bar - was a little fed-up of waiting to be served - there was either no-one at the bar and I had to ask at reception for them to get someone - or the barman was busy doing something behind the bar. Couldn't see what he was doing, had his back to the bar, for several minutes - with no hint of him looking behind him at us, no recognition there might be someone behind him wanting serving. And - I was going to ask him if he could talk......he served me without one word. Unbelievable, I know, but he did. He turned round, saw me, I asked for my drink, he gave it to me, I gave him money, he took it, he gave me change - all without one word being spoken.
One extremely good thing - 5 minutes walk down the road is a most amazing Chinese buffet.........you absolutely, must go to that. (My next review!!)
So - I would probably not stay there again, as my overall impression is reduced due to this one man! Or may saty there again just to go to the Chinese buffet with group of friends/family!

Good service and very clean. A little tired though. Could do with re-furb.

Spent 3 nights visiting family - great facility!! Very good breakfast!! 1 small downfall is that this place seems to host a lot of weddings so was a bit noisy. Very central to the Bolton Marketplace so lots to do if your looking for a good walk. Would stay here again!

Stayed at the holiday inn for one night
The location is great.
The room was great really clean . The breakfast was lovely, very well cooked and fresh.
The lady on reception was really helpful as she phoned around to try and get a doctors appointment for us.
Would return to this hotel and tell family/friends as its worth every penny of the room charges.

Stayed over night for a wedding, very friendly and cheerful reception staff, bedroom, clean and comfortable, a lovely nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, food freshly cooked. The only slight "niggle " when talking with other guests was that we all paid different price for the same rooms , a difference of £40 !!

This hotel is very well situated close to the city centre (about 5min walk). The staff at the hotel, whatever their position, were very polite, friendly, caring and attentive. We booked two non-smoking rooms. Room one was fine, but room two was a previous smoking room. The room wreaked of tobacco smoke even with the window open and there was an ash tray in the room! You cannot turn a room into a non-smoking room simply by putting a sticker over the smoking sign on the door! This was my husbands first Ironman and he was greeted with 'good luck ' cake and a helpful information pack. He was also offer secure storage for his bike. Breakfast was from 2.00am on race day with all the right kinds of food on offer. We had dinner in the hotel the previous evening and this too was targeted at Ironman really well, with lots of fresh pasta dishes salads and vegetables on offer and the fresh fruit desserts were lovely, lots of variety. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing but corners are cut. For example, the bath water is set at 46C and is really only just warm, the toiletries are sparse, towels were lovely though. If you are thinking of doing an Ironman next year this is a really good place to stay, well catered for, quiet and close to the finish line. The staff are great, the bar was fine and the food good. Just needs those few little touches here and there but for the price its not bad, somewhere I would recommend for an overnight stay.

Excellent stay, lovely hotel, very accommodating staff, especially Sanja !!! This was my husbands first ironman and was unsure what to expect, but hotel staff had it all sorted, when checking in, they had lovely bread for ironmen and kept us all on same floor, which was lovely and quiet. We opted for inclusive package, food was gorgeous and exactly what we required. On check in the hotel had given us a pack with all the information we would require. On the morning itself, they had breakfast from 2.30 and then even had take away tea/coffee/water, bananas, cereal bars etc and again when we arrived back, there was a huge welcome from all the staff !! The hotel is in a fab location, as its within 5 mins walk even post ironman from finish line. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone competiting in ironman !!!

Staff were very friendly. Food was OK - breakfast fruit was gone off (fizzy!) but general standard was OK. Twin beds were on wheels, which travelled a bit during the night. Air conditioning mysteriously switched off during the night, each night, so it must be set to do this centrally. Our room seemed to be above the kitchen and we were woken at the start of breakfast service each morning. Housekeeper ignored the Do Not Disturb sign at 9.30am, knocking on the door and barging in at the same time. Car park was full but they were able to provide a complimentary space at the Euro car park across the road. In general, it was reasonable standard, but I wouldn't rush back. (Having said that, I wouldn't rush back to Bolton anyway, regardless of the hotel)

We were very disappointed with the hotel WiFi costing us money as we weren't staying a week there. The breakfast was great with a nice variety of foods. It is close to a nice large mall if you are in need of shopping.

Not too bad of a hotel overall. It is a little out-dated, especially the cheaper rooms. I would expect more for the money but I don't have a lot of experience in other hotels around the area so it may be about right. They have a nice bar and restaurant with good food.

The standards expected of Holiday Inn were maintained. Good, quiet, clean room, free Wifi, good food, free car park and good access from dual carriageway. All one needs no difficulties. Online booking very convenient.

Very disappointing. Having stayed in Holiday Inns across the world this place fell far short of expectations. In particular the bedrooms were small, dated and dingy. Food was average. Would not recommend or stay again.

I am on a business trip, I travelled from Scotland and had an accident (not serious, just a bump) on the way to the hotel but was a little but frazzled. Got my days for booking wrong so there was no reservation that I'd made through the third party website.....it was all a bit stressful.

Arrived at reception and the lady could not have been kinder, she even recognised my situation and offered me complimentary extras and I have to say as a lone female traveller I was genuinely touched by her concern and kindness. I even tried not to cry and feel sorry for myself!

I have a customer service background and I notice that every member of staff in this hotel, regardless of their role, makes eye contact with you (especially when you look fried like me). The room service staff were also really friendly and upbeat and its just such a welcoming relief from other non-personable places I have stayed in.

Rooms are nicely decorated and faultlessly clean and also a reasonable price.

If you want to feel like you are being looked after in somewhere comfortable and clean, then book here; there is a reason that so many posts are mentioning the staff.

Friendly and helpful staff with comfortable room. Additional spa facilities with a pool and sauna added to our relaxing and enjoyment. Restaurant provided a tasteful evening meal and the extra optional breakfast was well worthwhile. A Solo singer playing her Guitar during our evening meal was also very pleasant. Would recommend.

The staff were wonderful, our room was well appointed for a lower cost hotel however the bed was very soft which does not suit me and gave me back pain resulting in little sleep.

Breakfast was an extra £10.00 per person (paid in advance, I believe it is nearer £15.00 pp if purchased on the day) and although we went in not too long after they had started serving the food was both overcooked and dried under the heat lamps which was a shame as there was a really good selection and it should have been a great breakfast. The Orange Juice was also watered down although the coffee was good and freshly made.

They have a direct link for taxis which were very quick to respond and very reasonable rates.

The best part of this hotel were the staff who were polite, friendly, warm and efficient, I cannot praise them highly enough.

I stayed here this week, the room was ok, the bathroom slightly better, the breakfast was standard and it is situated across the city centre from the railway station (about £4 in a cab). All in all the friendly staff were the most remarkable thing about this hotel.

The Holiday Inn has such a wide range of hotels in it's chain that you never really know what to expect until you turn up.

Room was comfortable, old style but comfortable. Internet was not included which was a little frustrating. Front reception staff were really fantastic (better than most).

Had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, on both occasions service was slow and the food nothing to get excited about. I think the waitress forgot to put my meal order in because my drink to 15 minutes. No big deal!

I'm unsure how regular this is, but when I stayed there was an 'open mic night'. For a hotel it was a really cool idea (something I would expect in a pub). Having been on the road for some time, it was a welcome change. Kudos for making the effort to do something different.

Bathrooms were dated but functional.

I would stay at this hotel again simply because it is close to business that I am connected with, but you would want to have a reason to be in Bolton to stay there. I've marked the location as poor, only because it's a very industrial area, although that said, I would stay there again.

We needed a stop-over on our journey on our way to a family celebration. The hotel was very convenient for our final destination and close to the town centre amenities. All the staff were courteous and very helpful with our questions. Apart from the 'log-jam' round the toasters breakfast was good. The only sadness over the room was the close up view of the back of some piece of humming machinery.
