Had a great Saturday night here, would highly recommend and club rooms are definitely worth the bit extra. Will be using again. Beer at discount when footy on was an added bonus don't forget to request your red card to get the discount.

Overall good experience.
Staff friendly and hotel clean and very well presented.
Only problem is the way the billing is done - confusing! e.g. if you book bed, breakfast & dinner the meals and drinks are processed separately. - obviously for accounting for the staff - confusing for the customer!

This hotel suited our purpose, we had to make the trip to Bury for a funeral. 3 nights was enough, wouldn't want a week here. Found the rooms a bit dark, more light would have been good.
Easy to get to Bury and the motorway and beyond. Breakfast was sparse to say the least. Choice of average cooked breakfast, fruit, yoghurt with granola, cereals and toast/croissants. wouldn't go hungry but not great if on any form of low fat diet.

overall very good, great rooms spa facilities and leisure facilities excellent, the public bar was lively with a good atmosphere but unfortunately the restaurant service let you down in particular paying attention to the guests liquid requirements unfortunately we were not the only couple to encounter problems trying to get a drink with our meal, you know who you are

We stayed in a suite which was amazing. Real first class accommodation. We attended a Motown Night which was great fun. Great opportunity to meet up with old friends in a wonderful location. Unfortunately we didn't have time to make use of the spa facilities.

Not been back for a few years but vast improvements.
New self help check in desk which was very fast and efficient with help as required.
If you download the app you can check in and access your room from your phone. Rooms have had a decoration and new TV's fitted. Also restaurant, now a grill, served the best ribs and desert I have had in a long time. Staff were all very pleasant as always but a vast improvement from the last stay.

My girlfriend and I stayed here on the nights of 11th and 12th November 2016. We booked a CLUB ROOM. The hotel is easy to get to, clean and well appointed as you would expect from a leading hotel chain. No real gripes apart from booking in on arrival is self service, (fine if you're a business man in a hurry but not so much if you're a couple enjoying a break together, it seems to take away from the experience), and road noise from the motorway nearby, (but I think this was more to do with an ill fitting window). Staff are friendly and very helpful.

Two night stay was very good. Probably the comfiest bed I have stayed in when on business. Although the restaurant food was good the portion size could have been slightly better. Staff are more than helpful and very welcoming. I have to say I would stay here whenever travelling to the north west.

Terrible service on the tribute night. Drink prices are terrible. To many people being booked into the tribute night for it to be comfortable.
Bag search was an invasion of privacy
to me a greed machine on the tribute nights that needs to be addressed along with ensuring there is sufficient staffing to deal with the volume of people.
Our group would not book this again and would advise anyone thinking of doing this to re think

There was noise in the bedroom overnight, some via an ill fitting window and some from noisy guests.
The staff were great, the room was comfortable, the food most acceptable and the spa first class. Great location for visiting family

This hotel was great. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. We had a club suite which was fantastic. Only comment i would make is that they advertised the club suite as having a coffee machine, but on arrival there was only two pods for the machine. But apart from that our stay was perfect. I could happily have done another night!

We recently visited the village hotel after visiting the Christmas markets in Manchester. The hotel is perfectly located straight off the motorway and has pleanty of free parking.
We received a very warm welcome on arrival from the reception team and booking in on the super efficient new system couldn't have been easier!!
The hotel was really clean and stylish with a great pub, Starbucks and restaurant. The evening dinner was especially delicious.
Our club room was a great size with a super comfy bed, huge shower and snazzy coffee machine.
Overall a fantastic hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff. Will definitely be back again soon.

Used the village as our base as we were taking a dining experience on the East Lancs Railway. The hotel more than lived up to expectations and we would have no hesitation in staying there again. The reception area is modern and inviting and the bedrooms styled in a similar vein. The pub on site was excellent and the breakfast was all you could want to set you up for the day. Will certainly be back

Motown and soul night.
Lovely atmosphere, food wasn't for me but the overall evening was brilliant. Beds were cosy, staff were lovely. The bathroom was beautiful! My partner and I wanted to steal all the furniture! Breakfast was nice. Checking out was easy :) will come again!

Visited for a soul and Motown night. Once up the stairs to the entrance Check in smooth. Rooms of good quality and nice shower. On arrival to soul night greeted by an unfriendly girl operating the rope style barrier. Bags checked and not a smile shown by the staff. Allowed in to dress our table and then I went out to get the cake. Was then not allowed back into the room as they were making a last minute change despite my party already being in there and carrying a big cake. Not good service. When going to the toilet you had to be let out and in because the barrier was in place the first part of the night. Meal was pretty good but slow in between courses. Not much room on the dance floor for a full venue. Breakfast was self service. Which was good. Once shown to the table the staff didn't interact with you or offer any more tea or coffee. Overall good stay spoilt my the unfriendly frosty staff at the soul night.

As a business traveller, I've been using the hotel for some years now and have seen some evolution over time :
-- Check-in used to be at a counter by some very friendly staff, the hotel has switched some time ago to self-check in (although most of the time -not always - somebody from hotel staff is still around to help you in case of problems). It's a pity that limiting human contact to the bare minimum seems to be the new standard now. And shouldn't the saving of some staff then be reflected in the rates ?
Invoice is sent same day by e-mail. Don't forget to provide your own email address, i.s.o. the one used at reservation (if you have a central contact making reservations in your company).
++ (Some?) Rooms have been refurbished, and this is surely a positive thing for the bathrooms that were getting a bit out of date, but are now up to standards again.
- Used the restaurant for dinner and also there, staff seems to become younger and younger (= less experienced), leading to them being unable to answer simple questions (does this dish come with vegetables, is this wine available in a small bottle, etc... ) immediately. But, in all fairness, they go and ask, and are then coming back with an answer.
Food quality is not of gastronomic quality, but more or less correct for what you pay.
Years ago the menu one could choose from was much longer (but maybe leading to too much complexity), now just enough choice, don't reduce it any further
- Breakfast : full English breakfast is available. Just a hint : providing hot plates would help to keep the breakfast warm, now these are sometimes ice-cold.
+ Wifi signal is of good quality in most rooms (wifi is FOC) and a TV with sufficient channels to choose from is available in the rooms.

Very friendly staff and the rooms where very clean. I didn't have a good nights sleep as the people on the room next to us was arguing and shouting but I can't blame the hotel for that. I would recommend this hotel.

The Village hotel is conveniently located for a number of the businesses this side of Bury. I stayed here while visiting a customer. The hotel is very close to the M66 and other transport links. It is primarily a business hotel. This is confirmed by the number of middle aged men dining alone in the evening…

The hotel has ample parking and is located on the edge of a business park. The locale is quiet and there is nothing going on here other than the hotel in the evenings etc. so you will be using the facilities in the hotel or your car if you want to go further afield.

The hotel is large, modern and clean. The check in is automated and efficient. Options exist for you to pre-check-in and use your mobile phone as a room key. I opted for the old-fashioned check-in on arrival. This was quick and hassle free.
As well as the hotel bar and the restaurant there is also a Starbucks on site. Despite this being a franchise you can charge spending in here to your room. There is also a fair amount of seating in the reception area.

The bar is a decent size, has huge TVs and a lot of background noise. Cheaper/lighter food based on pub fayre can be had here as well as drinks.
The restaurant is where breakfast and dinner are served. Breakfast is an all you can eat buffet of bacon, sausage, fried / scrambled egg, hash browns, beans, mushrooms and tomato. There is also cereal, toast, jam, yoghurt etc. I enjoyed this but I think it would be a little repetitive on a longer stay. Food for breakfast was of a good standard. Service at breakfast was good although I did have to wait to be seated one morning.

Dinner is very good. I enjoyed a good selection of well prepared and well-presented courses (savoury and sweet) during my stay. The dining room staff were friendly and professional and decently efficient. Quality of the food was good.

The additional facilities are a large gym, swimming pool, hot tub and possibly a sauna too. I did not have chance to sample any of these during my stay. They looked to be of a very high standard though and I understand that many locals are members of the gym and come to the hotel specifically to use these facilities. I did use the Spa. They do a “25 minutes for £25” deal on massage which was relaxing and good value.

The room was curious. It was right at the back of the hotel (I had asked for a quiet room) and the walls and carpets were curiously decorated in bright stripes. The bathroom is similarly decorated. This gives it a modern, fashionable feel but it a little less than “cosy”. I suspect they will need to decorate regularly to keep it in fashion too. There is a huge TV on the wall which I did not use and free Wi-Fi which I did. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The shower is a curious design which worked very well but the cubicle has no door (how modern!) which resulted in the floor flooding every time I used it.

They provide an iron and ironing board which worked very well. When I first came in the room I thought “by heck its cold in here, I’m going to freeze” but they don’t have central heating. Each room has its own electric radiator. Once I’d figured out how to operate that I had my room nice and toasty in no time. Simple slider under a hatch on the top.

The room was super quiet. Possibly as a function of being so far back in the hotel. I will ask for a room back there next time I stay here. Oh yeah, that’s a spoiler for my verdict isn’t it, yes – I’d come back happily.

The other thing I noted when I came in the room was a funny smell like stale tobacco. It was like getting a smoking room a decade ago. Oddly the smell was strongest in the bathroom. I closed the bathroom door and the smell stayed in the bathroom, the bedroom remained free of odour after that so long as I kept the door shut.
Check out is super-efficient. Just drop your key in a box and they email you your receipt.

I would rate this hotel as “better than good” and I will doubtless be back in the area again and I won’t hesitate to book in here.
