The Village hotel is conveniently located for a number of the businesses this side of Bury. I stayed here while visiting a customer. The hotel is very close to the M66 and other transport links. It is primarily a business hotel. This is confirmed by the number of middle aged men dining alone in the evening…

The hotel has ample parking and is located on the edge of a business park. The locale is quiet and there is nothing going on here other than the hotel in the evenings etc. so you will be using the facilities in the hotel or your car if you want to go further afield.

The hotel is large, modern and clean. The check in is automated and efficient. Options exist for you to pre-check-in and use your mobile phone as a room key. I opted for the old-fashioned check-in on arrival. This was quick and hassle free.
As well as the hotel bar and the restaurant there is also a Starbucks on site. Despite this being a franchise you can charge spending in here to your room. There is also a fair amount of seating in the reception area.

The bar is a decent size, has huge TVs and a lot of background noise. Cheaper/lighter food based on pub fayre can be had here as well as drinks.
The restaurant is where breakfast and dinner are served. Breakfast is an all you can eat buffet of bacon, sausage, fried / scrambled egg, hash browns, beans, mushrooms and tomato. There is also cereal, toast, jam, yoghurt etc. I enjoyed this but I think it would be a little repetitive on a longer stay. Food for breakfast was of a good standard. Service at breakfast was good although I did have to wait to be seated one morning.

Dinner is very good. I enjoyed a good selection of well prepared and well-presented courses (savoury and sweet) during my stay. The dining room staff were friendly and professional and decently efficient. Quality of the food was good.

The additional facilities are a large gym, swimming pool, hot tub and possibly a sauna too. I did not have chance to sample any of these during my stay. They looked to be of a very high standard though and I understand that many locals are members of the gym and come to the hotel specifically to use these facilities. I did use the Spa. They do a “25 minutes for £25” deal on massage which was relaxing and good value.

The room was curious. It was right at the back of the hotel (I had asked for a quiet room) and the walls and carpets were curiously decorated in bright stripes. The bathroom is similarly decorated. This gives it a modern, fashionable feel but it a little less than “cosy”. I suspect they will need to decorate regularly to keep it in fashion too. There is a huge TV on the wall which I did not use and free Wi-Fi which I did. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The shower is a curious design which worked very well but the cubicle has no door (how modern!) which resulted in the floor flooding every time I used it.

They provide an iron and ironing board which worked very well. When I first came in the room I thought “by heck its cold in here, I’m going to freeze” but they don’t have central heating. Each room has its own electric radiator. Once I’d figured out how to operate that I had my room nice and toasty in no time. Simple slider under a hatch on the top.

The room was super quiet. Possibly as a function of being so far back in the hotel. I will ask for a room back there next time I stay here. Oh yeah, that’s a spoiler for my verdict isn’t it, yes – I’d come back happily.

The other thing I noted when I came in the room was a funny smell like stale tobacco. It was like getting a smoking room a decade ago. Oddly the smell was strongest in the bathroom. I closed the bathroom door and the smell stayed in the bathroom, the bedroom remained free of odour after that so long as I kept the door shut.
Check out is super-efficient. Just drop your key in a box and they email you your receipt.

I would rate this hotel as “better than good” and I will doubtless be back in the area again and I won’t hesitate to book in here.

The location was Ideal for our purposes and the Staff were all lovely
The Breakfast was cold, eggs congealed and tomatoes not cooked The Room was gloomy and needed more lights. There was no hot rail in bathroom . could have provided a long mirror

I thought the Village would have offered more than basic accommodation and it did not. The rooms are dated and there are no facilities in the bedrooms i.e. a safe. The coffee machine that was in the room did not work; the rooms were freezing and the breakfast was not overly appealing. The staff were friendly and the hotel is very busy so it had a good buzzy effect.

Friendly, efficient and professional staff.
Great breakfast.
Plenty of parking.
You can walk to Bury and reach central Manchester on the tram in about 40 minutes.

I would stay again, but not on a Saturday night due to noise.

The adjoining door on our room had very poor sound proofing. I actually thought somebody had entered the room at first since it also let light underneath!

There was a disco until 4am that was audible thru the closed windows, even with earplugs in.

Various very drunk people in the halls, with no apparent electornic security system to prevent unauthorised access at night.

The Village laid on a spectacular evening for the Pride of Bury awards. The room function was dressed up beautifully it took your breath away when you walked in. The staff could'nt do enough for everyone and the meal and service was top class. Thank you so much for a fantastic night

They didn't honour my booking through Expedia and the hotel was "full". I guess that if I had offered to pay full price, they might have magically found a room. As it was, they refunded my the cost of my booking, which confirmed my suspicion that it was their decision not to honour it, otherwise they would have insisted that I get the refund from Expedia.

Steer clear of rooms above function room , unless you can sleep to the noise of Bass and Drum. I was not warned that the noise level would be so bad. Disabled parking bays were taken by Taxis and ddelivery vans . Food was not good quality .After complaining about the noise the receptionist moved me to a room at the back of the hotel ( upgrade) which I discovered when I got the bill that I had been ccharged at the higher rate. The staff are very friendly.

I stayed 3 nights for training in job. Checking in was efficient. Room was spacious. And bathroom clean, the shower was powerful. The staff at bar was helpful and wrapped food up so could take food to room. Never got to use spa or gym but could see it from reception. Breakfast staff and food was excellent. Buffet breakfast. Only downfall was everytime came back to room, after day away, room key needed to be reset.

Pros: Great location, club room beds comfy, big TV, gorgeous bathroom, great night sleep, starbucks in hotel, fantastic gym and spa
Cons: Staff.... (i'll eloborate)

Firstly I'd like to say I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and if i did return it would be purely for the spa facilities. The gym and pool are fantastic and it is so nice to be able to use a gym that actually has more than a few pieces of kit like many hotel gyms.

The hotel operates a self service style check in with computer screens which in theory works really well but......

We went for dinner which was ok, the room was freezing and the guy next to us went to get his coat to sit and eat his dinner. It was really cold for some reason the air con instead of heating was on. I had chicken kiev which was quite dry and had a bone in which I wasn't made aware of and I think it should be as it's not common for a kiev.

Once we had finished dinner we asked to put it on our room which we wer told was fine...when we went for breakfast in the morning before we were allowed to eat we were told to go and visit reception. We were told we had dinner outstanding on our accounts. We obviously knew this and said we would settle it upon check out like every other hotel we've ever been to but they said as we booked through hotels.com they don't pass over the card details. When booking in on the self service machine the receptionist told me if I wanted to use the same card I booked with that I didn't have to add a card. Clearly that information was incorrect.
It was as if they were scared we were going to run away without paying and if that is the case then they need to improve their system as it was as if we weren't trusted to eat breakfast.
This then made us late for breakfast and we didn't get to sit down until 9.30 and at this point the staff had started to clear away the food and we felt rushed as we were asked if we were done and it all felt impersonal and amateur.
We were reminded when leaving breakfast that we had outstanding balance and we needed to go to reception and pay NOW. We said neither of us had bought our company cards with us so could we do it upon check out and they eventually said yes.

I did get a chance to use the spa which was really great. It's so nice to have a grat gym and spa when working away - I've used some over the years that can only use the term gym loosely but this is a stand alone gym and is very nice. They had GHD's in the changing rooms which was great as it meant I didn't have to go back to my room to straighten my hair.

I am due to be coming back to Bury soon and I will look again at this hotel but if I find somewhere nicer I wouldn't mind giving it a miss - mainly for the fact that I didn't feel trusted as if I was going to run away without paying my bill.

Disappointed with our stay this time, usually stay in an upperdeck room and never have any problems, however we opted for a club room, we had a sleepless night as bed were awful and we were next to a power room, so noise all night and to top it off there wasn't a drop of hot water for a shower or to have a wash. We checked out at 7am and went home.

It was our second stay at the village, and we know that we'll come back here every time. We're warmly welcomed, we're helped every time.we need it, and it's clean and silent. We can eat there, morning or evening, and we can use a great swimling pool.and the gym.
The wifi is very easy to access, and the room are clean and big. A great stay every time

I go back to the UK quite often to see family and almost always stay here because it is close to where my sons live, also because of the leisure facilities as I get to take my grandchildren swimming. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The hotel has recently been refurbished, the gym is excellent with its new equipment. The restaurant is usually good food but they have recently changed the menu, I always look forward to a great fillet steak but it's no longer on the menu so opted for a minute rump steak which was pretty bad ! so thin you could see through it, I asked for it rare which was pointless ! Think it was 22 GBP way too expensive for what it was.

The Village is definitely improving over time. The bedrooms are brighter than previously. Very impressed by the hi tech check in/out process. The hotel has a state of the art gym and pool. Even the lockers are very sophisticated. Overall very good
