Used the hotel as we were visiting friends in Bury - good location and easy to find. The room was large and comfortable, staff helpful and friendly and the bar/restaurant very good. We probably would not have chosen to stay there on a weekend if we weren't visiting friends as full of hen parties and tribute night guests.

Reasonably good value for money, nice hotel with lots to offer - pub that serves meals, spa facilities and an onsite Starbucks. Clean and tidy everywhere, good food. Friendly, helpful staff. Would return

Stayed in a really stylish twin room with a friend for a wedding (which was also held at the hotel). Brilliant shower, plenty of space in the room too! Only downside is without the window wide open the room gets really stuffy, really quickly, even with the provided fan running at full power. Could do with an actual air con unit but I guess that's not plausible for such a large hotel.
Otherwise brilliant venue, nice to have a Starbucks downstairs, and also really easy to find (we travelled over 150 miles!).

We have now stayed twice at this hotel, using the special deals of £20 per night which makes it good value. The last time we stayed in one of the refurbished rooms, which were nice and clean but lacked some obvious things, including good design.

It seems they have changed their booking system and tried to go all funky with their website - and room design, but both miss the mark and have clearly not been consumer tested. A bit like their touch screen check in system which is awful.

So to be specific. If you are introducing a self-service check in system that needs a reservation number and name to be entered 1) tell people before they arrive 2) have an App where you can do it all before you arrive and simply scan a barcode when you arrive, rather than having to type everything at reception. 3)Have a system that works with multiple rooms on the same reservation. 4)If the receptionist is sat doing nothing when you arrive, get them, to check you in rather than be pointed to a dumb terminal (that's the Hospitality bit).

If rooms are supposed to be ready at 3pm, they should certainly be ready at 4pm. Ours wasn't so a wait in Starbucks for 20 mins. OK free coffee but what we wanted were rooms.

Also on the website if you are going to pry more money from us by offering deals on breakfast and an evening meal, show the menu for the evening meal and when we do book breakfast don't tell me at breakfast that I haven't paid - that's also the Hospitality bit.

We didn't eat at the hotel or bar because the menu wasn't exciting as it typical DeVere fare. We ate out and returned at 9:20pm for a drink in the bar. We were told the coffee machine had been cleaned and therefore coffee was no longer available - but they could do Instant. We asked to speak to the manager and they then suggested the restaurant machine may still be on and someone grudgingly offered to get a coffee from there - which tasted awful and was like mud. Hospitality again.

Now it seems that Children in DeVere eyes are over 18 when it comes to using the pool, but about 12 when it comes to paying for food and rooms in the hotel. I have never understood how one can get married at 16 but not use a DeVere pool after 6pm until you get to vote. In my eyes it is because they value leisure club members more than hotel guests.

Rooms are quite nice but a bit sparse with the new design - half a dozen coat hangers and a small set of drawers is all the storage. No Safes in the room or mini-bar. Thin walls so don't make a lot of noise. Double bed is quite small by hotel standards. No information about the hotel facilities in the room, or on the TV where I thought there might be an info channel. There is no towel rail in the bathroom, no shelf in the shower to place shampoo, etc. and no ability to dry anything when you've been in the pool. There is no sealing at the back of the washbasin so will be a haven for dirt and water which will soon swell the worktops.
Being "green" (a euphemism for saving money) they now have shower and shampoo bottles in large sizes that you share with others who have used the room, so goodness knows what is or could be in them.

Water in the whole hotel went off at 11pm but the night staff managed to get it back after about 45 minutes.

Breakfast was basic but OK apart from the challenge on pre-payment, but check out was a challenge as they said all done and when I asked for a printed bill they said it would be mailed to me. Given the fact that they had billed me again for breakfast and then removed it I didn't trust this and would much prefer a printed bill.

Perhaps it was a lazy receptionist or maybe it is their new style of DIY hospitality. If you like everything impersonal then fine, but I prefer to be welcomed by a human.

No doubt based on previous reviews we will get some bland 'Thank You' from the Manager, but to be fair some of this is probably out of his hands and needs to be taken up at DeVere Management level. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of customer engagement and a review of their Hospitality strategy. Are they a DIY and Pay-for-it-all chain or something better than that, Let's see.

We paid for the Club upgrade and were very impressed with the room. It was clean, modern and very well decorated. There were a couple of things missing in my opinion - biscuits on the tea tray should be included and there was no towel rail or extractor fan in the bathroom.
We dined in the restaurant and the food was lovely.
We also visited the spa and leisure facilities. We had a neck and shoulder massage which was excellent in very relaxing surroundings. The pool and changing rooms were clean and spacious, as was the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
Overall, there were many positives regarding our stay and we would definitely visit again.
The negatives were as follows: our room overlooked the back of the hotel and at about 10:45pm, the bins started to be emptied which woke us up. The small improvements to the room have already been mentioned. The lady on the reception desk at the leisure club when we went for a swim was less than friendly and made us feel quite guilty about asking to go for a swim!

The hotel is in good condition with some of the rooms being really modern and very comfortable. The only downside is that the rooms at the front of the hotel can be quite noisy because of the outside terrace below. I'd recommend travelling with ear plugs if you're a light sleeper!
Aside from that the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Had a Club room. Hot nights meant we had to open window as no air con. Rooms face directly onto busy motorway and hotel car park. Hotel also operates as a function venue and gym for local residents so cars arriving and leaving from 6.00 am to midnight.
Breakfast service team exceptionally helpful and friendly.
When you first arrive you have to check in on a machine not with a person. Not a great way to show hospitality. A budget hotel in quality but not price

We absolutely loved our stay. We stayed over night and had a spa day on the Sunday. Everybody was so helpful in making this weekend special for my mums 50th birthday. The room was clean and set out really well.
When organising the spa weekend stay, I did book through the reception and they didn't book my family's spa sessions in. Make sure if you are having spa treatments that you get booked in the spa at the same time as you book the stay. 👌🏼

Stayed at this hotel on several occasions and had always great service. But on this occasion I did not get the room type requested even though it was confirmed at booking. I also requested to be at the end of the corridor instead I was placed 3 doors away from the busiest point of the hotel ( the lift). Did not too much sleep on the first night but following a complaint was provided with the correct room in the new wing. Good night sleep had on the second night. Would I stay there again. Yes I would

Great stay thanks a lot, would recommend and stay again. Helpful friendly staff who answered any queries etc. The food was good and the breakfast plentiful. The spa looked great but unfortunately didn't have time to use it. Will visit again!

Paid £80 dinner bed & breakfast but were not allowed to eat dinner before 6pm which we only found out upon arrival so had to forego that. Very noisy hotel, though we were at the front, meant for interrupted night's sleep. Left asap after breakfast just to get back to our own bed.

Very well located hotel, easy to access from the motorway.
Friendly staff and great food in the restaurant and at breakfast. Could have done with extra pillows in the room but otherwise can't fault it.

automated check in is off putting, refurb work going on in hotel and we were not made aware of it or we would not have booked offered a move to another hotel but totally impractical as it was on the way back home and we were off to leeds the next day. complained via email but hotel have failed to bother to respond and we have emailed them twice

Lovely hotel . The rooms on upper deck upgrade are lovely, modern and clean. It was a very hot day and the room was too hot, although a fan was provided. We didn't sleep because of the heat.
Hotel food and drink very expensive but there is a pub/restaurant next door which was really good. Had tea there and breakfast next day .

Apart from a few very minor niggles (key cards were sometimes tricky to use for example) a very nice modern designed hotel with everything you might need for a nice afternoon / nights stay. Pub food specials were nice and good value.

Hotel room have been refurbished to a nice standard, modern design, nice big tv with sky with comfy bed and a nice bathroom. Great idea for having large containers for shampoo and shower gel instead of usual tiny samples.
Great leisure facilities on hand too
Would definitely stay again
