Our first visit to Anema was a complete surprise. Look past the outside & get into Real Italian food. Good menu choice of authentic Neapolitan food. Excellent value for money on both food & wine. We will definitely be returning. Forget the big chain restaurants & get the real thing.

You could easily walk past from the outside and not realise what a special place this is, so glad we didn't. Lovely relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff. The food and the wine were delicious, lovely fresh bruschetta (they bake their own bread and dough) followed by stunning pizza. We will definitely go back, felt like we were in Italy for a short time :-)

This is our second visit and it definitely won't be the last.
Firstly, the staff are amazing and so friendly. My 12 yr old daughter loves it especially the owner who gives her a hug. Very family orientated. The food - freshly cooked and lots of choice. Good quality and so tasty. My 13 yr old son said it was the best pizza he's had.
This restaurant will definitely be a family favourite.

The best pizzeria in and around Eastbourne. Everything is perfect, from the staff to the food. The pizza is made very well, but the thing that I like the most is the calzone. ;)
Thank you for the time spent in your pizzeria.See you soon.

Popped in for lunch to see how good this place was. My Italian taste buds were not disappointed, Excellent authentic Italian cuisine -food just like mama used to make. Reasonable prices and really good friendly service. Like Arnie -I'll be back.

Visiting Eastbourne for a couple of days and took the trip advisor recommendation on this place....and so glad we did! The informal lay out and service is simply perfect as the food really does all the talking. Really is true to its roots and that's words straight from the mouth of my neoplitian boyfriend, the pizza tasted so authentic we could have been dining in the back streets of Naples (if brave enough) accompanied by the real Italian warm welcome from the family that run this establishment....simply lovely! Well worth a visit and the £30 we sent for two starters, mains and beers!

We went for an evening meal and had one of their "street-food" snacks - deep-fried rice with ragu - and calamari for starter then spaghetti with clams and a calzone stuffed with cured meat for main - both were excellent. The calzone in particular was unusually good (I am usually a bit disappointed by calzone, but the waitress recommended them). The pizza was huge and the other portions were very reasonable and we washed it all down with a very nice dry prosecco (£22/bottle again recommended but not on the wine list). The only thing that I would change would be to serve some sort of sauce/dip with the calamari e.g. aioli or tartare (not very Italian perhaps).
The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the place has a really nice atmosphere. It is street café-style but still very charming.

We have just had the most amazing dinner here!
Lovely warm Italian welcome and a very busy restaurant for a Sunday night!
Bruschetta was fantastic and probably the best I have ever had....probably as they make their own bread......and the pizza was delicious and HUGE!
Menu selection is wide ranging and has something for everyone.
Peroni, wines and soft drinks were all very good too.
I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. I feel this place justly deserves to be No.1 on TripAdvisor.......other diners were italian, so that is recommendation in itself.

Friendly likeable staff, quick service, free wifi, authentic tasty Italian food, generous portion sizes, not over-priced and plenty of vegetarian options. We will dine here again.

Booked a table for 3 early evening. The table was the same size as other tables for two people and was very cramped. Ordered bruschetta, menu said 4 pieces but we only got 3. Arancino hubby had that and loved it. Mixed side salad very disappointing, just a bowl of packet mixed leaves with a slice of lemon. Pizzas were delicious. Hubby had pasta, quite small portion compared with other Italian restaurants but came with bread to soak up the sauce. Skipped deserts. Would go again and just have a pizza but would definitely have a take away pizza. Just too cramped for us to sit and enjoy.

Came across this little place by accident and we thought we would give it a try. So glad we did! Probably the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. It's small but perfect. The food quality is astounding and each member of staff a delight. It's a shame I'm only visiting Eastbourne as I would go their most weeks. Cannot recommend enough!!

After seeing all these great reviews we decided to try for ourselves, luckily we got a table as the place was so busy. We ordered a pizza and a calzone, and they were both delicious as well as garlic bread for starter. Serving size was huge and i was able to take 1/2 my pizza home as didn't want to waste such lovely food! Lovely experience and the staff were all very kind. Cant wait to go back and will recommend to friends.

Wanted to try this place due to its number one status on trip... and not remotely disappointed - in fact, it deserves number one and beyond!
The 14 inch pizzas are superb - incredible dough, massive variety of toppings and service with a brilliant smile.
The choice of drinks is perfect - in keeping with the whole Napoli feel.
Go there. Eat there. Go back!

This is a place to go for its food, not for its décor. Basic, unpretentious furnishings, intimate premises. Minimalist. Clean.
Young, welcoming, efficient, attentive, enthusiastic (first-language Italian) waiting staff.A simple menu. Pizzas, pasta, salads and an emphasis on seafood. Rather limited range. Few meat dishes. But well cooked, delicately flavoured food.
Good value for money.

Basic looking restaurant- nothing fancy with plastic chairs and paper napkins. Family run with everything made in house. Service was polite, prompt and relaxed. The food was amazing. After a week of pub lunches we were ready for something different. I would have been back every evening if we had stayed longer. Great menu with lots of options- everything was great from the starter to the pudding. Fresh, unique flavor, prepared well with plenty to keep you full. Prices were very reasonable.

Having seen good reviews on trip advisor we excised to seek out this Restsurant. Service was excellent, nothing too much trouble. We had a large mixed meats and cheese platter which was very filling. The squid was also very good. We also had the speciality Italian cake which was delicious and the cups of coffee are very generous size. We hope the young couple running this place have every success.

My girlfriend and myself were visiting Eastbourne for a couple of days and having checked the reviews on Trip advisor and being a fan of Italian food, we thought we would try it.
We were not disappointed! Such a breath of fresh air to go to an Italian restaurant where everything is actually authentic Italian. From the waitress who served us to the chef cooking the food and to top it off the food was superb and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and polite and made you feel very welcome, even staying open later than they would as we arrived late.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and even considering another trip from North Kent at some point, just to eat here.

When in Italy, it takes a bit of legwork to find the best hidden backstreet family run restaurants away from the tourist traps, but the exploration always reaps rewards and that little jewel of real rural honest Italian food, when you eventually find it, is the best food in the world. Well, I've just found one, but it isn't even in Italy, it's in Eastbourne.
This modest family run Italian restaurant is basic on first impressions, with it's plastic chairs and table tops and cutlery rolled inside paper napkins, and it isn't particularly cheap, but oh.... for start just look at the menu. What we have here is Italian home cooking made with all the passion and love that you would expect with family recipes transported personally from Napoli. I had a tagliatelle that was the recipe of the grandmother of the family. The ragu is slow cooked over eight hours just the way you'd have it home cooked in Italy. I know of no other Italian restaurant outside Italy that makes no concession to commercial pressure, or relaxation in the philosophy of doing it the real Italian way.
It isn't cheap, but it's less than the trip to Napoli, and I doubt you'll find better Italian food in the UK. You'll get a real Italian welcome and by the time you leave you'll feel like a family friend. The trend is shifting away from high-brow fine dining towards real food, more rural food, and Anema E Core is well placed to become a favourite amongst foodies, and they may just keep the secret to themselves.
I cannot recommend Anema E Core highly enough and although I don't live in Eastbourne, I think I may be making the pilgrimage fairly regularly in order to feed my soul.

It is well accepted that Neapolitans make the best Pizza in the world and here you can experience this. Super friendly staff coupled with such devoted attention made us feel very welcome and we knew the food was going to be good.Starters were Pizza based garlic bread and Arancino followed by pasta and pizza which were all freshly prepared and cooked to perfection.A photo of me,my wife and mother in law enjoying our food is on the restaurants facebook site. Desserts came later and the Torte Della Casa is something you must leave room for as the delicate pastry and filling is so light and has such fabulous flavours( I will not tell you anymore as it will spoil the surprise). I really didn't want it to end. Coffee completed the experience and the bill was ridiculously good value considering the quality of the food.We left with hugs and kisses all round. If you like good Italian food this place is a must.

We visit Eastbourne every June to watch the tennis, and over the course of the past 20 years, we've eaten in every allegedly Italian restaurant in the town. We can only concur with other reviewers that this new place is the only one that truly represents the wonderful food of the owners' home country. From starters that include authentic Italian street food (arancino and pizzetta, for example) via incomparably delicious pizzas, with dough so marvellous that we almost wanted to eat it on its own, and ending with a slice of pastiera (a sort of egg custard tart, but of infinitely greater sophistication than that comparison suggests) every mouthful transported us to restaurants we have visited in Italy where the only other customers were Italian. Indeed, it was noteworthy that during our meal, another table was occupied by an Italian couple, and a group of young Italians came in to have coffee and order street food to take away. Prices are extremely reasonable, drinks are Italian and equally good value, and service was fantastic. A prize for Eastbourne to treasure.

Do you British people even know what "arancini" or "panzerotti" are? Give this place a try and you'll know what food in Italy means!

Finally Authentic Italian Food cooked by Italians and using Italian products! The pizza is a winner made from fresh dough in front of you and cooked for 1 minute in a 400* oven! together with all the street food, pasta is cooked al dente and using the real ingredients. Freshness, quality n taste together with a great smily service. Price it s ridiculously cheap compared to the quality! I m already a regular...

As Italian, I'm always curious about trying new restaurants... So, I tried 'Anema e Core' (Soul and hearth) during the first week of life, and the result was a surprising WOW effect, Is not a case that I went back the day after with other friends and since then I have been a loyal client....
In an informal atmosphere I found, in fact, the truly Napoli's pizza... As one my italian friend said trying it, it's better than a lot of places in Italy.
The prices are less then the average for a meal that will not disappoint your expectations.
Grazie Anima e Core!!!
