We dined here on the 23rd September 2020 at 7.00pm. It was as well that we had reserved (based on other TA reviews) as the place was quite busy.
The interior is perhaps a little faded but maybe it was because of the subdued lighting. I am all for 'atmosphere' in a restaurant but the buzz of people enjoying themselves is the best type. I am afraid the lighting was so subdued that we had to use the flashlight facility on my wife's phone to read the menu- honestly it was that 'subdued'.We were served by a delightful masked lady, and we ordered bread/olives/oil&vinegar to start, followed by two pizzas. The bread with the starter was quite the most moist and delicious bread I think I have ever tasted. I could have pigged out on that all evening. The pizza are of the Neopolitan type, that is a really fresh pillowy base and simple toppings. My 'Calabrese' had 'Nduja, which is a sort of spreadable spicy sausage. It was delicious, and surprisingly filling. My wife had the 'Estiva', which had greenery and Parma ham. She declared it good but it was almost too much for her. Two Morena beers to wash it all down, and only just over £30. Outstanding value, and highly recommended, but do book first.

We picked this restaurant from the trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed! The ravioli was especially good! Good friendly service.

This Italian restaurant is absolutely fantastic! Food and service are just great! I had one of the best Calzone I ever had , my girlfriend had the pasta and she said that it was fabulous! Tiramisù and Panna Cotta al Pistacchio out of this world!
Highly recommend, our favourite restaurant in Eastbourne!

If the name of this popular Eastbourne Italian is supposed to mean ‘Heart and Soul’ shouldn’t the spelling be ‘Anima’ rather than ‘Anema’? Animated like the bright yellow it is painted outside rather than anemic like the slightly drab colours of the small rear room in which we had our lunch this Saturday? We are mainly from the well-priced set menu starting with a cocktail of lettuce with a very generous helping of prawns and a garlic bread shaped more like a pancake. A chicken salad main my wife found fairly ordinary; the tagliatelle bolognese my daughter and had was helped by its slow-cooked meat sauce. A rum baba dessert resembled a slice of cake but none the worse for that.

Been to Anima e core a few times and the food is always great. Only place I eat veal and it's consistently delicious. Pizzas, pasta, puddings... Haven't found a dish that I didn't love. Service is always friendly and personal.

In our short stay in Eastbourne we came across this great "Ristorante Italiano". We had pizza and that evening we felt at home in our home town (Napoli). Thanks to Lia that suggested the "pizza salsiccia e friarielli" we had one of the best pizza we ever had in UK. The staff, the owner were just delightful and we really enjoyed the evening. On top of that, coffee(Italian coffee) and limoncello were just the cherry on top. We will definitely come back again.

We visited Anema e Core during our three night “staycation” in Eastbourne. The staff were very welcoming and it was reassuring to see all the Covid-secure measures in place.
We ordered the Rigatoni Funghi E Salsiccia (Pasta with Porcini mushrooms, Italian sausage, cream and parsley) and the Capriccioso (Calzone with mixed cured meats, cheeses and mushrooms). The dishes were served very quickly and were generous portions. The food was fresh, hot and authentically Italian. The Rigatoni Funghi E Salsiccia was delicious. The flavours from the Italian sausage, mushrooms, garlic and parsley were well balanced and the sauce was rich and creamy. The Calzone was also very flavoursome and the dough was light and perfectly baked.
Although the food was served piping hot, the Calzone in particular got cold quite quickly and would have benefited from hot plates.
We each enjoyed an Aperol Spritz cocktail with our meal which were reasonably priced (£5.00 each during the happy hour). We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal which came to £32 (including drinks) which we thought was very reasonable.
