We stopped off at the National Trust site as we have membership while in the area. Nothing particularly special, they are just cliffs but at least there was a cafe and the national trust building had a room with videos playing explaining about the erosion of the cliffs and how some houses had fallen into the sea. There are some steps down to the beach which has lots of chalk lumps that you can use to write on rocks with.

Magnificent countyside for walking with equally magnificent views of the Seven Sisters. Parking is in a pay and display car park (free to National Trust members) and refreshments are available from the NT Birling Gap cafe. Adjacent to the cafe is an informative Visitor Centre. Toilets are also avalaible here.

Iconic site to visit, along with Beachy Head. Very windy, but the sun shone and the rain stopped! Beautiful - breath taking scenery, with a wild and wintry sea in the background. We walked all along the cliffs and down on the beach seeing the effects of coastal erosion first hand. Had a lovely light lunch in the National Trust Cafe at Birling Gap. Toilets and adequate parking on site. Parking free for NT members.

Our coach stopped in the NT car park and there is a charge for parking. We viewed the beautiful area from the cliff top then accessed the beach via the staircase. Some amazing views along to the Seven Sisters cliffs and well worth the climb down and back up again. Afterwards we took a peek in the gift shop and purchased a souvenir of our visit.

Visited twice during our week break in Eastbourne. The first on a lovely autumn afternoon and the second on a wild windy showery day.

On holiday in the area, we stopped in the NT car park. It was a very windy day, but still quite busy, lots of coaches. However, we parked easily and scanned our NT cards for a ticket, which lasts all day. The views are stunning in both directions. Plenty of walks available, although we felt that some people were far too near the edge of the cliffs, especially as there are warnings about erosion. The exhibition in a room off the cafe was excellent, and very interesting about how the coast had eroded over the years, plus information about shipwrecks in the area, very sad to see the numbers involved, thankfully not recent. We had coffee in the cafe, very good, and enjoyed a late lunch at about 2.30, plenty of food still available. There is a well stocked 2nd hand bookshop and a lovely gift shop. Well worth a visit.

Birling Gap has marvellous views and the steps down to the beach are very safe for all ages. The café was full of visitors but we eventually got seats. Food offered was extremely limited. Staff were friendly enough. Car park charges.

We knew the White Cliffs of Dover, but it looked somehow more different and spectacular here. Many tourists were around, but we all knew it was worth it to come here.

A lovely place to stop at have a cuppa and cake and take in the view whatever the time of year . The cliff is being eroded so areas that were in use outside are now severely affected.

Beautiful walk, but do not be fooled by it's "short" length.
Well worth it though, on a good weather day

Worth the visit - if you want to trek, go the whole distance of 16kms. alternatively drive straight & have a good time.

Birling Gap is the perfect starting point to view these famous chalk cliffs. There is a carpark, National Trust display and store, toilets and a cafe. There are also stairs to the shingle beach where there are excellent views of chalk cliffs in both directions. From the carpark there are paths leading east to the old lighthouse and just beyond that are lovely views of the red and white Beachy Head lighthouse. Buses also serve these localities.

What a fantastic natural beauty spot - the only sad thing is, so many other people know about it !!!
I’ll return here whenever I can.

This is an absolute must if you are in the area - truly World class. Excellent shop with tasteful goodies to buy. The road from Birling Gap towards Beach Head is lovely. Highly recommended. Note that you have to pay for the car park.

It was a lovely long walk from the Birling Gap to Eastbourne along the cliffs. Loads of sunblock and a windbreaker are a must; the wind does get chilly! But it was so lovely to walk the length of the coast from the cliffs and I definitely want to find a chance to do the other half from Seaford to the Birling Gap when I get the chance. Probably good to have a full meal before heading out from Eastbourne or Seaford; dining options are limited (as to be expected).

Good day out idea if you like nature and hiking. There a few hiking trails in the area with beautiful views. Make sure you check the weather as it gets a bit dangerous during heavy winds around the cliffs.

Fantastic views along the way along the white cliffs. The steps down to the shore line by the RNLI museum is a must.
