Seven Sisters Country Park

We pay our national trust fees expecting car parks that are kept safe that do not damage
the tracking of our cars. The Birling Gap car park is a sad reflection on the attitude of
the national trust and i shall be seeking compensation for tracking damage caused by
an unsafe car park.
Birling Gap is a scruffy setting but it is the access to the Downs across to Belle Toute
and Beachy Head and the magical walk below the Seven Sisters to Cuckmere Haven
at low tide. The countryside is spectacular at all times of the year and access to the
foot of the cliffs has been substantially improved and is safer now after recent damage. I have walked my greyhounds on the South Downs for years and the regular
weather changes ensure a varying environment and every day is different from the
play of light and cloud formations shifting with the weather changes. One of the best
places for easy walking in the south of England .

Quick stop here after visiting Beachy head. Super viewing platform. Quiet exposed if windy. Well worth the stop.

Why would I not give a beautiful place 5 stars? It's a lovely spot, even on a cool drizzly February day. It's a natural environment. So what was wrong?
Litter for one thing. Stone balancers for another. And the state of the car park.
Yes I know that's not the fault of the natural environment. But it is the fault of the National Trust and people.
Not that I'll stop going. Whenever I'm in the area. The seven sisters should be seen. Before they get eroded away.

The seven sisters is a iconic part of the country not to be missed. Please, Please be careful of the edge and stay away.

These are great places of natural beauty in all weathers. But be under no illusion the wind blows a hooey during the colder months, and the rain, hail and snow can be really painful. Its very exposed and the unwary can be blown off their feet. Thinking of staying safe please stay away from the edge. There are no end of stories in the local press about the alarming rate of cliff falls and bodies being found at the bottom. The selfies really aren't worth it.

If you are visiting UK, eastbourne has to be on the bucket list. You can catch a direct train from victoria station ( 30 pounds round trip). The train journey will last for an hour and half and it's a beautiful ride I'd it's sunny.

Once you get off the station you can purchase the bus ticket directly from the driver, (2 pound). The resturant on top is amazing and the price is almost the same as what you'll be paying in london.

The walk from seven sisters to birling gap and to the pub is just amazing. Everything is so surreal and beautiful.

Parents travelling with toddlers can get there too, the bus frequency is pretty good so you can get down at the point walk around and catch the bus on your way back again😆.

Trust me you won't be disappointed with the view

Yes, an enjoyable clamber from Birling Gap along the pebbles past Beachy Head Lighthouse...then onto Holywell...the start of the promenade at Eastbourne; yet anyone attempting this walk should first check the tides; it would be stupid to get 'cut off' by the incoming tide...

My partner and I regularly go to Seven Sisters.

We start in Seaford, have our first break in a Tea House near Seven Sister park (after about 1-1.5h walk).

We then walk for another 1.5h or so and stop at the lovely Birling Gap cafe for tea and snack.

After that we start the last leg up until Eastbourne Pier.

You can have 1 last break in Beachy Head but last time we went (two weeks ago) it was closed.

The whole thing is VERY hilly so great workout, usually followed by a well deserved bath!

A lovely place to trek. Awesome views and very calm. Parked at the National trust and walked along the white chalk cliff.

A steep flight of stairs gets one onto the beach; a pebbly beach framed by high white chalk cliffs. Absolutely gorgeous place to visit - and even better if you are into fossil hunting! We found marine fossils as well as ancient human artefacts, spear head and gun shot.

Access to the beach for wave and landscape photography fantastic. Lots of history and clearly visible signs of cliff erosion. New steps had been fitted down to the beach that very day.

Have done this walk a number of times and it offers nice undulating rolling cliffs and great sea views and takes you into eastbourne should you wish to go that far. best reserved for summer if you want to go to eastbourne and back and eastbourne has a pretty promenade by the beach. There is a car park and cafe at birling gap for refreshments, and some pubs in nearby towns and villages.

It's a moderate level walk with some slopes and can be completed with average fitness

Absolutely beautiful place for a wander. Easy enough to park up in the car park and stroll down Birling Gap. The view is stunning - easy to feel overawed with the wonder of the natural world.

This is the place for sunsets, walks and bracing winds. Now National Trust, Birling Gap is an all year attraction. I have been coming here and to the surrounding area for many years and never miss a visit when I am down. Whether you come for swimming or for the views you will be glad you came.

As National Trust members we were able to park for free at the Birling Gap car park. We set off on the only beautiful weather day of the Christmas holidays in the direction of Beachy Head first which is a lovely walk with some incredible views. We then walked back to have our picnic lunch at Birling Gap before inspecting the tide times which are very usefully displayed at Birling Gap by the National Trust. We discovered we were at Low Tide so we decided we had time to walk down the steps to the beach and then walk all the way along the rocky shoreline to Cuckmere Haven. I have to say I would not recommend doing this unless it is a beautiful day and you are at Low Tide as you need to be aware that you have enough time as you do not want to get cut off. Also, on a bad weather day I would be worried about cliff slips - as you walk quite close to them in places and there have been some areas where there have been recent slips. The day we did it was calm, low tide and several others were doing the same walk. You are able to get back to the cliff at Cuckmere Haven to return along the top of the cliff. It was a glorious day and we clocked up about 20km of walking!

Be aware though at the moment due to cliff erosion that there is a crane sited at Birling Gap so it does not look as attractive as normal here - but climb down the steps to the beach and you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the Seven Sisters!
