We visited at short notice without booking and received speedy service and excellent food even though it was a busy time with many customers enjoying food and drink in lively company.

One of the few, if not the only restaurant in Eastbourne where you can bring your dog along, We felt very welcome. We enjoyed our excellent fish and chips and tasty deserts in a very nice atmosphere, The staff is very friendly and helpfull. We can recommend a visit.

Came here for lunch on a bank holiday Monday. Ended up having the home made pie, as did 4 of us, I'm a chef by trade and I tell you it was absolutly perfect... fresh veg and mash that had flavour... extra gravy when asked for. Bar staff friendly and attention from the front of house lady couldn't be faulted... even better that dogs were allowed in, made a refreshing change

We popped into the Crown & Anchor for lunch. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 4 children ranging in age from 7 to 13 yrs old. We all ordered various things from the menu and after a short wait our food arrived. My wife and I had ordered the home made steak and ale pie. The pie was the best pie we have eaten in a while and made the trip from Maidstone worthwhile. The rest of the food was also very good. The staff were attentive without being over bearing and the food arrived within an acceptable time given how busy the C&A was. Definitely worth a return trip.

Wow! Who said Eastbourne was dead. This is a pub with sports on the tv, billiard table AND a very busy restaurant area. Food is excellent and large portions. 1st night we went, we struggled to find a table and the footy was on the telly. The next night we struggled AGAIN to find a table and they had a live band playing. Very lively, very friendly, prompt service and young and old alike enjoying the atmosphere. Well done, would definitely go back

The staff in the crown& anchor are very helpful, cheerful and friendly. I am partially sighted, I was assisted to the toilet. And taken to the bus and helped me board. Above and beyond the call of duty.
Highly recommend

An excellent gluten-free roast beef Sunday Lunch without booking. Service was spot-on and the care taken with Patsy's gluten-free needs was first-class. Such a shame the dessert was poor or this would have been a strong 5/5.

A large group of us had booked a table for a midweek lunch.
Unfortunately one of the group fell over shortly before we arrived and was in need of medical treatment. Ros came to the rescue and volunteered to take her and a friend to hospital in her car rather than having to wait for an ambulance. A really kind act that was much appreciated.
Our pre-ordered meals arrived promptly and we all enjoyed the various options we had chosen. It was good value too.
Thank you, Ros, for your kindness. Our friend was treated promptly at hospital and is now recovering from a broken wrist. We’ll definitely be returning but hope our next visit will be less eventful!

Very impressed with the Crown & Anchor. Less than a 2 min walk from the beach, it’s the perfect place to grab a bite to eat. Really friendly service and good value for money, would definitely recommend.

Pretty good place, good selection of beer, food is fresh and well prepared. Friendly staff, quite a lot of space to sit. Tables outside can be newer and less shaky.

I would fully recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Eastbourne. The welcome is fantastic and the food is outstanding. We have taken our kids in each night and i have felt they were totally safe and welcomed which is not something i would do in many sea front pubs.

The outside doesn’t look great but don’t be fooled - pop in for a very welcoming service - Service impeccable, good food served with a smile and the staff were really attentive
Good for kids and dogsHusband was paying the bill and it was wrong so he told them - it was in their favour - but cos he was honest they reduced out bar bill!
