Okay venue, but definitely in need of some refurbishment which seems to be in progress. Staff were very helpful though.

The theatre is well situated near the town centre and is adjacent to the seafront hotels. It presents a varied programme.

We visit the theatre periodically and our most recent visit was on 31 May 2014 when we saw an excellent production of Jesus Christ Superstar staged by the Eastbourne Operatic and Dramatic Society.

This old theatre is full of atmosphere and has very good acoustics. It has very good seating and the great majority of the seats have a good view of the stage. A big plus is that patrons always receive a warm welcome from the volunteers (probably from the Friends of Devonshire Park Theatre). They sell the programmes, show peole to their seats and are generally helpful. They remain on call if needed and make a point of saying good bye when we leave.

We thoroughly recommend a visit to this theatre to anyone visiting Eastbourne.

Visited in April to see The Sooty Show. My youngest son was a little scared, but everyone was fantastic even allowing us to change sears, until he was settled.

This is a fabulous example of a Victorian theatre, long may it continue!!

We booked a show on-line at the last minute just before a weekend away in Eastbourne. The theatre was smallish and had a lovely old-fashioned charm. The show was good too ! The inside of he theatre was impressive and the seats were comfortable. I hope to revisit soon.

This is a lovely old fashioned theatre with great balconies. The acoustic is good and we visit this theatre several times a year. The panto at xmas is always good. Our recent visit was to see Warwick Davis in 'See how they run'

There is so much character at this theatre - like stepping back in time. The staff and volunteers are courteous and helpful; the performances are usually excellent and often are on tour prior to a West End run.

A lovely old Edwardian theatre not ruined by a modern refit, saw "See How They Run" a farce performed by the Reduced Height Theatre Company. The sound was not always clear but I don't think this was the fault of the theatre

The Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne is a lovely classic theatre, a bit old fashioned but there is a comfort in a theatre visit which is traditional in feel. The stage drapes were rather dusty (I guess its difficult to reach into the folds). A nice theatre.

The play we saw was 'See How They Run' put on by the 'Reduced Height Company' - it was brilliant, the acting was great (the maid was brilliant). The set was all reduced in size so appropriate for the actors and not for a single moment did one consider you were watching anything other than a fabulous play. What great talent in this theatre group and I really hope they put on more plays and tour the country, we will certainly make an effort to see them again.

Un fortunately the lighting system is not great, one night the play had to be stopped altogether , tickets were either refunded or reallocated ( IF available ). many people were disappointed . Theatre in need of a good refurbishment

We are so lucky living so close to this fantastic Theatre that has outstanding plays and shows during the year, finishing with the annual pantomime during the Christmas period. There is a good selection for all age groups and all tastes. The tickets are very reasonable when compared with the West End and there is nothing budget about the productions. Great Asset to Eastbourne.

A lovely, atmospheric Victorian theatre. Dracula performed by the five person cast of the blackeyedtheatre co. Great fun. No set changes, but the cast made good effect of the same set throughout. The narrative of the story was easy to follow. You must GO, it's a fun family night out in a wonderful theatre. Not to be missed!

Catch all the provincial big name actors and performers in circuit dramas, plays and shows on their way either to or from the West End here, but pay half the price! All this and you get to enjoy one the last truly elegant and historical theatres into the bargain.

As part of Valentines weekend had tickets to see Bird song. Not having read book or seen TV production found difficult to follow story as it jumped around from one time to another. Probably would not have booked to go and see this but as play went on really enjoyed it as by then knew what was going on!! An excellent production with some lovely light and sound effects which at times made my husband and I nearly jump out of our seats.Excellent acting.

Went to see Birdsong (which was very good). the theatre is a lovely traditional building, seating is a bit cramped (people were smaller in the old days!). Avoid the dress circle as you can hear the people in the bar chatting all the way through the first performance and than in the second performance you will be distracted by the bar staff talking and throwing empty bottles away.

Very nice old theatre easily within walking distance
of center city. Delightful Panto with a very professional cast, this theatre apparently offers a variety of productions throughout the year. Quaint and intimate venue with dining and pubs within the immediate area. Handicapped parking available with additional parking adjoining.

Another great panto, Aladdin last night was brilliant-well acted, danced and sung by all.The grandchildren, parents and grandparents loved it in this delightful theatre. we have seen quite a few plays, musicals etc here and love the atmosphere, it is like a more relaxed west end experience and cannot recommend it highly enough.

The Devonshire is more than just panto (though that is what brings in the money). Over the years we have seen quite a variety of productions. The nature of the audience is probably a reason why the theatre can't be too adventurous but even the standard fare is entertaining when done well, as it usually is here.

The Devonshire has the charm of a bygone age but a more recent tradition was seeing Spike Milligan regularly occupying a box and enjoying a bottle of wine during the performance.
The rest of us can order coffee and biscuits for the interval and they are delivered to your seat if you wish.

A lot of information and many activities are offered by the Friends of the Devonshire Theatre. It does not cost much to join and the Friends provide a lot of support for this fine institution.
