This is our third time for taking our young daughter to this wonderful theatre for our annual pantomime visit. Once again Eastbourne have excelled themselves great characters props and most of all atmosphere. The staff at this theatre are also traditional and lovely natured. This place and pantomime are top notch and I can't recommend it enough.

The Perfect Murder
What a great evening, the play is full of surprises and manages to combine humour and also
the consequences of violent crime and still remain entertaining.
Great acting by the experienced cast who really gave their all both physically and emotionally.
Very clever set, excellent lighting and truly outstanding special sound set up.
It was a great boost to get to meet the author of the original, Peter James, and very good
of the cast to stay behind for questions.
Could watch it again , well done everyone.

We took the family to see Beauty and the Beast and had a great time, the acting, dancing and singing were first class and the comedy in the safe hands of Tucker and Martyn Knight was as great as ever-thoroughly recommended for all age groups, it is true traditional panto at its best. The Devonshire park is a lovely little slice of the west end in Eastbourne.

Thoroughly enjoyed Beauty and the Beast, this is our second visit to the theatre I really love the old fashioned charm although this year I did find it rather warm. The panto was good and I always think you are stepping back in time once you arrive at the theatre -many thanks look forward to next year.

A lovely traditional theatre. I've been there several times on holiday visits. Friendly staff and a good range of productions. Highly recommended.

I too went to see Oliver. All the young actors were fab, and really looked the part with their wonderful costumes and super make - up. I was blown away by the young woman playing Nancy, what a voice! But for me the star of the night had to be Corey Hennely who played Fagin - a star is born, watch out for Corey in the future, an amazingly talented young man. Well done!

Spent a wonderful evening watching 50 children all under eighteen, well what a suprise, every one of them were brilliant, to name a few the lad who played Oliver was a joy to watch along with Fagin and the artful dodger. The Theatre is small which added to the charm.

In the process of refurbishing. Should be great when complete. Currently a little run down and need of modernisation work almost complete

I have only visited this delightful old theatre a couple of times-and am now hooked! This beautiful venue has been painstakingly restored and the staff, who I believe are mainly volunteers, work so hard to make everyone have an enjoyable visit. I did read one review where one customer complained because of lack of bar staff and he was kept waiting..my advice to him is to be patient and appreciate all the hardwork and commitment by the people who run the Devonshire. The are three tiers and the seating is comfortable as well as good acoustics..the theatre has an intimate feel as well. The first play I went to see wasn't that brilliant and the second called Open All Hours was the WORST play I have ever been to
..barely a laugh to be had and embarassingly, people were leaving at the half time interval while one person nearby was asleep and snoring!! -but it wasnot the theatre's fault.
So I decided to go last night (tuesday) to Oliver at the Devonshire..to say it was excellent would be an understatement..it could have almost been a West End theatre company-BUT it wasn't..it was an amateur production and it was TOTALLY AND UTTERLY BRILLIANT!!!! This is my favourite musical ...a very hard production to take on but my goodness the cast were incredible..The large audience clapped at the end of every song...it was great..
especially the young lad Oliver and the female who played Nancy as well as Mr Bumble. I am going again on Saturday I liked it so much...Well done and long may these lovely old theatres continue to be a fabric of our entertainment.

We have been to the Devonshire Park quite a few times and much prefer it to the soulless Congress theatre. The inside is beautiful, if in need of a bit of TLC. The venue is quite small so all seats are generally quite close to the stage. I wouldn't sit round the sides of the circle as the view there is quite oblique and if you have long legs try and get the front row of either the stalls or circle.

Went to see a play by Peter James. We loved it and acting and stage scenery were great. Parking was no problem. It was a very warm evening although it was October and the place was extremely hot, which people were complaining about but apparently the heating was off. Nowhere near enough toilets and queues for Ladies were ridiculous.

However we thought the theatre was cosy and welcoming and would happily go again

I visited this theatre last night and saw an excellent play (J B Priestly's, "Dangerous Corner) but the evening was let down by the excessive time spent waiting to be served at the bar both before the show and also during the interval. On both occasions there was only one person serving which was wholly inadequate.

This lovely theatre is perfectly placed for all the seafront area hotels and B&B,s. Always a good selection of plays to watch and the seats are very comfortable with a delightful bar for pre and interval drinks. Always a pleasure to visit.

I saw two plays during my stay, both of which were well produced and enjoyable. The theatre is charming - a bit like time travelling to the old Victorian Music Hall.

This is a theatre with lots of style and looks beautiful. Add to this that the prices are very reasonable and you can park in the surrounding roads including the one the theatre sits on for nothing after 6pm then it makes it a real gem to be recommended.

Far older but far better than the Congress Theatre. The shows may not be top billing but the seating, ambience and fun factor, audience participation and décor are great.

The prices are also good value and parking is free if you look around surrounding roads. Just needs a little TLC and the DPT would be perfect.

Very we'll kept ornate appearance with decoration well maintained. Friendly and welcoming staff. Having bought 'best' seats, i.e. Stalls in centre about 9 rows back, this felt a long way from the stage and the rake too shallow in my opinion. Rows A to C likely to have neck ache even though production (Lotty's War) had sloped the stage to some extent. Some great shows happen here (LW was very well presented) so please don't be put off, just be aware that what you may buy as best seats might not live up to expectation.

Saw Lotty's War last night and thought it was very well acted, nice theatre with friendly staff and old fashioned teas and coffees during the interval, like entering a time warp really of the past but thats what it is all about I think, seen other great acted produtions here in the past, Agatha Christie etc all with well known actors and actresses, well worth the "cheap" ticket prices in my opinion, maybe a bit of an update of the toilets wouldnt go amiss though!

Walked past theatre and saw a production of Lotty's War, great well know actors and the production was as good as any West End show without West End prices! A real treat lucky folk of Eastbourne. Suggest any visitor checks out what's on. i

Very homely feel to this theatre, even down to the tea and coffee trays for the interval. Lots of good productions on offer throughout the year.

This is a great architectural theatre away from a big city and has some great plays staged here.
Have tea or coffee on a tray in the break and have biscuits as well - quaint.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Recommended - Enjoy

The Devonshire Park is a lovelly theatre. The best seats are the raised stalls at the back. You are far enough away yet close enough to see everything on the stage.
