Always a pleasure to visit, go every year while attending the Lammas festival on the Western Lawns. Really worth going to have a nose around anytime you are in Eastbourne.

An interesting little museum but seems to concentrate more on the items for sale that the history. I can forgive that because the RNLI relies on donations and fund raising in order to exist and continue their valuable work..

Some people may go to the museum hoping for your typical attraction where displays are on the walls and obviously visible, but this museum has a twist. There are a few main exhibits of photo's, painting and models but the main content lies in the books situated around the museum.

There are many great stories and facts to learn, but you need to pick up the books and read the literature... up until now I didn't even know Sunderland had a great boat crash!

As well as great literature for you to read and a few good pieces to look at, the gift shop (which is considerably larger than the museum section itself) has many great items, such as windup crabs and seagulls (for your pets to enjoy)!

The museum is free and run off the back of a national rescue service, it's easy to understand why the shop outweighs the museum in size.

However, top job. Couldn't have done better.

P.S. All required facilities are 2-5 minutes nearby (food toilets ect.)

I was a bit disappointed by this 'attraction'. It appeared to be more of a shop outlet than a museum, although there were a couple of large albums displaying historic newpaper articles about lifeboat resues and achievements. A good place perhaps for younger children to wander around and learn about the lifeboats and what they do etc. A bit of a treck from the shops and pier but very near the seaside. Souvenirs reasonable but not all displayed.

The museum gives a good history of the Life Boats and the various services they have had to cope with service in the past years.. Lovely people run the shop and museum and make you very welcome.

I loved the fact that this was actually the old lifeboat house. Buying Christmas cards here obviously helps a very good cause and it's interesting to read the facts about the Eastbourne lifeboat service. Did not have any dislikes.

A good selection of things to purchase from cards, pencils to sweaters and caps , all at reasonable prices. There is also an area telling you the history of the lifeboat at Eastbourne

It would have been easy to just let the building fall into dis-use but this is much better. Predominantly to raise money for the worthwhile cause of the RNLI but doing it in an interesting and effective way. Well done Eastbourne
