We visited today with my 2yr old son and husband.
Make sure you book in advance and payment is taken on arrival. We spent the whole day here and my son cried when we had to leave.
Its beautifully kept, train ride was fab (one free ticket on entry), play equipment was great and lots l benches. We had lunch at the cafe, it was very cheap £2.75 for a sandwich is fab! Highly recommend!
I only wish we lived closer.

We went to see the Steam Trains but once there saw it was a diesel train. Apparently the steam trains only run at weekends & we went on a Tuesday. It states this on the leaflet but we see a leaflet until we'd paid our money & gone in.

We had a ride on the train, quite fun then had a walk round before leaving.

This is a really nice little place which I think is aimed at younger children with its well equipped park and small toddler area. The mini train ride is fun. Currently limited to 1 ride per person rather then the usual unlimited rides pre-COVID. There were all the measures in place that there could be to follow to COVID guidelines.
Toilets were clean. The kiosk offered a good selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams etc. If you have a few extra pennies it’s fun to watch the tiny trains go round at a cost of 20p a go. A little walk to the other side of the fishing pond takes you to a second smaller play park and picnic area. My 3 year old thoroughly enjoyed the maze as well. I think we will be regular visitors next year when it reopens in spring after the winter.

Took my wife, daughter and grandson for the day before his 4th birthday. What a lovely day... 💖 The measures that they had put in place for social distancing were spot on, they were always cleaning around the site. The train journey was excellent and very good value, even for repeat rides at £2. The food was amazing and beautifully served and the adventure playgrounds were very well maintained. Our grandson loved the maze and the woodland walk. All in all, a wonderful day!!! Thanks so much EMSR!,

Remember to take lots of 20p for the displays.

Brilliant!

Visited with my wife and our little boy. He is not even 2 yet but this was one of the best places we have visited. He loved everything from the train rides, to the play areas. Can't wait for our next visit and hopefully with more of the family next time.

Have been coming here for a few years with our kids (age 0-7) and it never fails to be charming, such good value for money and just really lovely! From the normal priced tea/coffee and ever improved gardens and play areas it’s so nice it’s kept it charm. Functioned really well with sensible Covid measures in place.

Myself and a friend visited on a steam service (pre-booked tickets) weekday in August.

We had a wonderful trip on the one mile circular line pulled by a steam locomotive. The line travels around a lake and includes a tunnel and suspension bridge. Helpful and enthusiastic staff. Clean and well-maintained steam & diesel locos, carriages and premises. Nature walk. Maze. Children’s play areas. Well-stocked shop. Cafe. Toilets. Large, free car park.

Having read other positive reviews on TA we visited with our two children (7 and 3) in August. We managed to get one of the very few remining booking slots available online. We ended up spending over 4 hours here!

The response to the COVID pandemic is second to none with limited visitor numbers, regular cleaning of all areas (especially regularly pressed buttons!) and superb social distancing from the guard on the train!

The children thoroughly enjoyed their one trip on the train which comes free with your entry . We did pay for an extra trip later in our visit. There are a number of different areas within the main 'play area' which kept both of our children challenged and entertained. They also loved the area with a number of small 'houses' that captured their imagination. They also loved exploring Granny's garden and finding the hidden cave!

Remeber to take a stash of 20 pence pieces to pay for the wonderful miniature railway exhibitions - the children loved these!

** It would be great if they provided £5 worth of 20ps in change bags at the entry desk - would save hasseling the shop! **

We took our own lunch and it was good to find a number of picnic benches available to use and the vast majority of these are under shade - which was well-needed during our visit!

Overall, we had a great time here and the entry cost represents excellent value for money.

My friend and myself went with 3 children under 12 . On arrival we were checked in as booking is required at present. On paying I immediately spotted a member of staff cleaning the exit buttons, barriers etc which immediately reassured me as this was the first time we had been for a day out since covid 19.
It was a really enjoyable day, after our picnic the kids used the play equipment and a member of staff regularly cleaned the swings and slides and there was a hand washing station with signs encouraging constant hand washing routines. All the way round there are hand gel dispensers and constant reminders to social dsrtance. When we went on the train all social groups are separated by a 2 metre distance and before you get on the seats of the trains were cleansed. Overall I would highly recommended a day out here and have written this to reassure others who may also be anxious ,like I was in this current climate.

We visited ESMR for the miniature steam railway......I am a steam spotter.....BUT myself and my partner were blown away with what a great visit this is.....great for families, loads for the kids to do, the steam railway is superb and great value. What I was really impressed with were the staff, they make this place a special mention for the lady that met us at the gate to check us off for our booking, this was Thursday the 30th she is a credit to the site along with her son who works in the shop. Whatever beat it all though, you have a miniature HYMEK, one happy spotter 😀😀😀😀😀😀

A great space for the children to run around & enjoy! As you arrive there is a miniature railway for you to take a ride on. They have a great system in place for Covid regulations.
The train ride then gives you a view of all the little parks & places you can then walk around with the children.
We only managed to get ours to go to one play area- which was huge!
There’s a maze & other areas to explore.
There is a cafe, although we went in the afternoon so didn’t get to try this out so can’t comment on food.
We easily spent a few hours there, and could of happily been there a few more had it not been closing time.
I’d say this place is more suited to younger children (perfect for us-but just in case you are reading wondering about older ones).

Great fun with the kids. You can walk around the site to different play areas which is great and see the steam train go past as you walk. Great fun to ride the little steam train around. The play area near the entrance is good, with a variety of play equipment for different ages. Nice little icecream and food kiosk near the entrance and tables to sit at. Mini trains to watch go around the tracks (additional 20p). Fun little maze and gardens to look at around the trail. If anyone finds a purple teddy, it was taken by the baby fox that plays near the maze :) and belongs to my daughter, lol.

We love coming here as a family. Children are 2, 4 & 6 and all love it.
One of the few places to allow picnics as well, which is perfect for us as we have allergies, and try to keep our costs low. The cafe does have quite a lot of options though, and caters for most needs.

We go several times a week when it's open. The train rides are always are a highlight, and the children love spending their 20ps on the little trains and ride ons. The separate park for pre-school children also really helps at weekends/holidays.

The railway is run really well with a lot of enthusiasm by the staff. There are pleasant walks around the grounds that follow the rail track. There are several play and picnic areas around this walk which allow the younger ones a goal to head off to. The area is very well maintained. You should also be aware that thew refreshment area sells food abd drinks. The childs picnic deal is very good. You can tell this place is owned by local people with a family. The kids meal is very reasonable for the quality that the children receive. If you go for a day then the play areas enhance a very well thought out minature railway.

Always a pleasure to take Grandchildren here. They love the play area and always seem to find friends to play with beside themselves. Great trip around the park on the miniature trains as well as super walk with adventures on route when you walk 5he circuit.

Miniature railway, great locomotive for rides around a static track, nicely tucked away on Eastbourne Levels. Plenty of areas and playground equipment to keep the children busy, and a small shop with stuff to buy. Great value for the family, and on a nice day a great day out for them all, plus you can get a decent coffee and snacks too.
