What a great day, I noticed some people say not the whole day, not the case we had a great day, lots of steam rides picnic next to the lake, fantastic play parks, watched the fishermen pull out some massive carp, my 4 year old daughter loved it as did my 5 year old nephew. Well run you can tell the family that own it love it.

This is such a cute little place for families with young children.
Our little boy is not yet 2yrs but loves this place and never seems to get bored.
Plenty to do if the weather is nice, the railway is well run and the drivers make a real effort wearing all the right uniforms and are so friendly.
Packed lunches are allowed but there is also a little cafe on site for a small selection of hot/cold food which is reasonably priced and nice. Ice-creams and jelly a plenty too!
Prices are quite reasonable, especially if you buy unlimited and go on the train more three times or more! Under 2's are free which is great.
Would recommend on a dry or sunny day - take a picnic blanket as it can get quite busy. Lots of tables but not all in the park area which can be a pain, so blanket for a picnic would be a handy 'just in case'!

No dogs allowed though :-(

THis facility is well worth the money.
The kids will love the soft play area, the train ride and the general layout.
We took our own food as did lots of others but the food here is reasonably priced.
The entrance fee is quite reasonable.
The toilets are very clean and serviced regularly.
A special mention for the train ride and the guard who is VERY good with the kids. The driver too was very plasant but obviously he had his hands full driving the train.
We will take our granfchildren back again.

This attraction is superb for kids 9 and under as more geared to younger ones. It is well run compact in lovely surroundings. The cost is reasonable for families too. The staff are polite and helpful. Enough to keep kids amused for hours. Lots of adults enjoy the train rides too. I think better than Drucillas which is expensive crowded and not well laid out. Lots of picnic tables all around the site and some in shade too.

Took my small grandson here to ride the trains, during the summer months ( six weeks holidays) they get the steam trains out and this is a real treat for any boy big or small. The little snack bar/restaurant is very reasonably priced we had sandwiches and they also do a lunch box for children priced around £4.99 (approx) this includes fruit (banana) sandwich drink etc
We paid £16 for 2 adults (as baby is only 14 months old) this was for endless rides on the train. Didn't see the Gruffalo though , we went round 3 times :) Theres a maze and lots of playparks for the children , gardens are well kept . Most enjoyable day.

A real highlight for me and my 2 year old. We loved the size as everything is a short walk away and the steam train was fab. Children's playground was very impressive.

Had a great day there from the time it opened to nearly closing . My 3 had a fab time . Brought the unlimited ticket so we went in the train 4 or 5 times and played for hrs in the play area . Had a lovely picnic near the lakes . Amazing place it's great fun even did the maze twice . Can't wait to go back

The main reason coming here is for the trains , well worth doing unlimited rides for as my boys went on it around 5 times , but the park is pretty good too and have a small maze as well, and a lovely walk around the lake, some of it probably not ideal for wheel chairs ,
I thought cafe prices were reasonable , for 3 milkshakes and a pot of tea for 2 was £7.50 (I've paid more then that in cafes before ) but this is an ideal location for a picnic , with lots of places to have one .
Only thing is , like some of the other reviews it's probably not a good rainy day place but saying that, if you wrap up well you could still have a nice day ,
The staff are very polite here and very helpful, will come again when passing or back in this area

This is a good place to take the kids for a day, aside from the train ride which is lovely there's also three play areas and a maze and often people fishing around the lake and if you're lucky you can see them catch fish which the kids love. Theres a reasonable food hut but you can also take your own which saves a lot of cash and the entry fee is pretty reasonable compared to alot of places, the annual tickets are fantastic.

This place is awsome. Lots of exercise for the children as there is a country walk around the lake plus a huge playpark. If you like riding the miniature train I would pay for an unlimited entry. We go there quite frequently and my boys are never bored there. Friendly staff too.

What a fantastic venue and experience! A wonderful (and safe) environment for ALL ages (2 months to 90 years) and a wonderfully cheerful and welcoming staff team. No wonder that people buy season tickets for this- it's an all year experience. You can ride in style or just walk around the beautiful lakeside and watch the wonder of others as they marvel at the miniature trains.

We all love it here. Great kids playground, nice walk around the lake. A little maze and of course the train rides. It's really good fun and annual membership is very reasonable. Food in cafe is basic, but again very reasonable and they are always very accommodating for my very fussy daughter. It's all outdoors, so not the best day out in the rain, but otherwise a great day out for all the family.

Have just renewed membership for here, so worth it as you have paid for it after 2 visits. Usually can spend 3hr plus here as the kids age 3 and 5 yr love it. Good play park on site..so much that you could spend over an hr & half just on that area. Always take a picnic where poss . Sandwiches alone priced @£4 each. Take 20ps for little Thomas Rides. Area for under 5s to play in so not having to worry abt big kids trampling over your toddler.

Our family had a great time here for a three year old's birthday treat. We were three nearly threes, a four year old, twelve year old, nearly fifteen year old and assortment of parents and a pair of grandparents, and spent about four hours here. Would have been longer but closing time and a spectacular thunder storm came together. Everyone loved the train rides, the littlies had a good time in the playground, we used the picnic tables for lunch (plenty, sun and shade), got 'lost' in the maze, played in the play houses (sorry, even the 30 year old), watched the model railways in cases, and the oldies took a leisurely stroll around the grounds. Fab afternoon out, reasonably priced, nice staff, good little cafe. Will go back.

We took our grandchildren, 2 and 4 years old. The place is a real gem! Large play areas, a wonderful fishing lake to walk around dotted with children's play areas and a decent track. The children loved the play areas and trains, the adults loved the wonderfully laid out garden (including a maze) and the snack shack. Thoroughly recommended if you have a spare 4 hours. Amazing value for money too!
