For some reason Tuk Tuk over the road was unexpectedly closed so we searched Tripadvisor for an alternative lunchtime meal and this restaurant was third on list of places in Eastbourne. It was a clean & inexpensive restaurant with pleasant service. But the food was decidedly average with fried food undercooked & greasy, and a gloopy tepid casserole dish with rice peas & sweetcorn that was reminiscent of something in the 70's. I'd like to say better things, but apart from 2 courses costing under £11 it really wouldn't be something I'd recommend.

This place was recommended to us by friends. They said "Have the Greek meze, it's delicious, make sure that you are hungry". They weren't wrong. From pitta bread and dips through several starter dishes, then mains and finally dessert the food just seemed to keep on coming. I couldn't fault any dish, they were all cooked fresh and delicious. They obviously take pride in what they cook and serve up and were happy to talk about the dishes and what was in each one. We couldn't finish everything but not through lack of trying.
If you don't want the Meze there is plenty of other choice on the menu. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other dishes.
On top of this the staff are polite, friendly and helpful without being over the top. We had a very enjoyable evening and we'll be going back. I was surprised to read that someone found that it didn't meet their expectations, my experience was excellent. I would recommend that you give this place a go, but I advise you to arrive hungry.

I have a problem every time i go here. The food is delicious. The choice vast. I have favourites but not one of them is better than the other and are on a same par. Therefore it is difficult to know what to choose. The lamb shank is extremly good. The taramaslata to die for. The meze is well worth it. I love tne beetroot mouse. The chicken is superb. We dont come to eastbourne that often but i wont eat anywhere else and rave about this place to may friends.

Went along on a Wednesday evening with two friends. Nice ambience. Not too busy. Attentive and friendly staff. We ordered the Meze for three. Reasonably priced wine and Greek beer. Meze courses came quickly and in copious amounts. Authentic food. Make sure you are hungry before you arrive! Would visit again without hesitation.

Visited Eastbourne on Friday and used TripAdvisor to check on best restaurants. Gr/Eat had good reviews so we dropped in for lunch. We love Greek food and have holidayed in Greece many times. We chose the meze menu and it was excellent. Every dish was beautifully cooked and it took us back to our holidays. We had beers, coffee and tea and the bill was just less than £40 which we thought was very good value for money. The staff were all very welcoming and we were so pleased to have found Gr/East. Highly recommended and we will definitely go again when next in Eastbourne.

My partner looked this place up and suggested we go there . I must admit I was a little dubious after being in Greek restaurants before in England and them not being very good , but it had great reviews , so agreed to give it a go ..
It was amazing , the food and everything about it you couldn’t fault as well as Taramasalata to die for ! We had a great night and will definitely be going back again and again . In fact I can’t wait to go back to try some more of the menu !

Gr/eat was an excellent experience. We opted for the set price Meze and the food just kept on coming....and coming - each dish tasting nicer and nicer. The staff were efficient and friendly. The meal was very good value for money.
Thoroughly recommend - however call to book in advance as popularity means difficulty in just walking in!!

First visit on basis of previous reviews and wasn't disappointed. Great food in lovely atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and service good. All the dishes we had were fantastic, accompanied by dips and warm pitta bread. Delicious.

First visit, for dinner. Meze was excellent (starters were the best part). Service good and efficient. Shame on a Friday they allocate a 2-hour table-booking - would have preferred longer.

Have been a couple of times recently and had excellent meals. The taramasalata is to die for as are all the other dips with the warm pitta bread. All the meals we had between us with the friends I have been with were all so good - Lamb shank/ Moussaka/ Tuna/ Prawns in spicy sauce/ chicken souvlaki. The only little gripe was the souvlaki came with rice and chips , would rather have with just one of those and a small greek salad but when we asked for this it was denied so had to order the Greek salad as a separate dish . Then when the meal came it did have salad with it so ended up with too much salad. Would be happy to pay a supplement to add some feta to the side salad on the plate. Looking forward to going again soon to try some more of the dishes.

We had a fantastic night, with great food and great staff. There really is an authentic Greek feel about the place. We have the Meze, as good as any in Greece.

We tried the full meze and just about completed it. A great restaurant close to our hotel in the middle of town. The food was scrumptious and even with two bottles of wine was very good value for the four of us. All the dishes were well cooked, well served and presented. Couldn't fault it really and expect you have to book at weekends (we went in October on a Wednesday). Last orders are at 9.30 but this well publicised and no problem.

Had the set lunch menu. Great food & service. Had a laugh with the staff & couldn't fault the food. Ended up taking some baklava home as too stuffed to eat anymore 😊

I’m new to the town and generally am not one for returning to the same restaurant time and time again but this restaurant is just an exception. I’ve visited four times and every single time have been absolutely thrilled with the food and service, fantastic! I keep bringing different friends here and have even visited with my 19 month old son who thoroughly enjoyed sharing a meze one evening with his mummy! The staff were very welcoming and friendly towards my son and nothing was too much for them! Please do try the wine, even the house wine is delicious!
I’d recommend doing the £19 per person meze, it’s fabulous! Also the pork souvlaki is a must have!
Can’t recommend this restaurant enough!! Please visit!

We have only eaten twice at this restaurant and on both occasions the food was absolutely delicious. The service excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. You do have to book for busy times, but we will definitely visit again and again...

We enjoyed a very pleasant Saturday lunch here. The three of us choose the Greek Meze menu priced at £12.95 per person. We thoroughly enjoyed the selection of at least five different Dip starters - very authentic and tasty. Main course selection was also delicious - slow cooked beef in a tasty sauce, plus Souvlaki consisting of pork and chicken accompanied by rice and some home cooked chips. We accompanied this with a Mythos beer each. Tasty Baklava and a delicious chocolate cake to follow along with coffee. Very nice atmosphere - traditional greek music in the background, friendly staff -deserves to do well. Suggest you book in advance.
We hope to visit again soon.

A bit late in writing a review. Visited the restaurant on 21 st August 2017 our very first visit to Eastbourne. Reserved table and was very surprised with the the choice of dishes on the menu.I had the lamb and my wife moussaka washed down with a nice bottle of Greek house wine. Polish waitress service very friendly and helpful. With View Hotel passport vouchers got 10% off bill.
A very good restaurant and well worth a visit.

This place has a nice atmosphere for a romantic meal and we've visited on several occasions. The vegan options are marked on the menu and there's lots of choice: bean stews, vine leaves, hummus, stuffed peppers, breads, salads - all are lovely. My boyfriend loves the feta and tomato. The staff are always very helpful. I would recommend booking however as we have been disappointed on a couple of occasions when there were no available tables.

I could not fault the restaurant in any way. The atmosphere and environment of the restaurant is brilliant and the service is exceptional, our food came within 10 minutes of ordering and it was of an incredible standard. I can not recommend it enough.

Having not booked in advance, I was pleased to be accommodated as a single diner at a busy time. Great luck!
The staff were welcoming, the menu varied and the food excellent.Traditional mousakka was presented as if in Athens, with reasonable (non-expensive) red house wine. This had been preceded with a super selection of dips and flat bread..
To complement the main dish (and to benefit from the truly greek situation) I chose the baklava to follow. Another winner!A fine evening meal.

A great small Greek establishment, family-run and obviously very popular with regulars. Two parties in when we were there gave the place a great buzz without tipping over into noisiness. Excellent range of dishes on the menu, I had fava Santorini - yellow split pea puree, then chicken souvlaki ( they readily substituted salad for the menu-offered chips ) and finished with wonderful yogurt, fruit and nuts. Each dish was fresh, tasty and of a good size. House white wine very reasonable and only £3.25 a 175ml glass.
We enjoyed dinner so much we went back the next day for lunch and had a glorious meze for £12.95. The dishes kept coming; dips, a Greek salad, butter bean stew, souvlaki, beef; I have not listed them all but there was lots of delicious food, all of a high standard. Exceptional.
Although not a deliberate feature of the place I could see into the kitchen, which looked immaculate. The owner was preparing the dips, carefully judging their readiness by eye and taste, with a judicious adding of a touch more oil etc. The attention to detail was commendable.
I wish we lived locally; I am sure that this would be my new destination of choice.

Really good find. Small friendly restaurant with a great menu. I had the lamb shank and my husband had the beef in red sauce with rice. The portions were large and the meat exceptionally well flavoured and very tender. We were lucky to get a table so either arrive early or book!

Atmosphere was lively and very welcoming, we ordered the greek meze which was incredibly tasty, great value for money and didn't stop coming, certainly couldn't eat it all but staff boxed up any food we couldn't eat to take home. If we lived locally we would definately become regulars.
