Christmas tea was lovely in lovely surroundings. Plenty of choices on the menu for tea. The Christmas decorations added to the relaxing atmosphere. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food was great.

We held my wifes 60th Birthday tea at the Hydro today and I must say I was even more impressed than when we come for afternoon tea.
We had 25 people in attendance we were given a side room and a small lounge.
The food as always was second to none, the staff worked extremely hard to make sure everything went smoothly.
Thank you to all the Staff and Management for a truly memorable occasion for my wife Diane.

Just spent two days at the Hydro Hotel,can highly recommend it,staff extremely helpful and very efficient,our room had everything you could possibly need and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Will definitely visit again.

The Hydro do a great job of replicating everything good about The Grand Hotel but at a considerably lower cost. Great facilities and top service from the staff. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Spa treatments available. A nice restaurant and bar and a good choice of room service too at a sensible price. Would highly recommend and will certainly be staying again in the near future.

Overpriced for what it delivers IMO. It cannot compete with a good family run place. Places run by staff just don't have the same atmosphere.

I went here for a lunch on a Saturday. It's a very traditional restaurant (Drinks, Bread rolls to keep you going, 3 courses.)
The food in the most part was excellent. I had an avocado and prawn salad which was very tasty. When I try a new place, I like to have some chicken breast, it was nicely seasoned and moist - always a good barometer for how good a restaurant is!
Dessert was pretty good too.
My wife had steak and chips for her main and was slightly disappointed with the chips.
Overall, great service, lovely setting (the dining room is quite grand), mostly great food and actually relatively inexpensive. I would go again. For local comparison I think this is about the same level as the Garden Resturant at the Grand Hotel - but not the standard (or expense) of the Mirabelle at the Grand.
