Twice yearly NARPO hoId a group lunch, this having been held at the Hydro for many years. Our spring lunch was held last Friday and yet again was perfect. From contacting the events office for booking to leaving after the lunch nothing could be faulted in anyway. Many thanks to all staff involved for a most enjoyable day. We had 53 extremely happy guests who look forward to the next one in November.

This is great place to stay in Eastbourne. Easy to access, easy to find and with free parking. Stayed for a night with partner and little one. Room and bathroom were big enough and comfortable. At night environment was calm and silent.

Negative - point was the travel cot ordered. The side rail cushions were a bit stained and dirty and had no proper mattress. Just some cloths and sheets piled.

Positives - food and staff: we had dinner and breakfast. Both with high quality and great choice. Staff members were absolutely lovely and helpful.

The feeling of visiting from a bygone era. The staff, rooms and mains areas were all in top condition with a feeling of luxury. Breakfast was the most delightful experience with full service to the table and the staff were so attentive. Wonderful place for dinner with spectacular views.

We stayed here for one night recently as we were at a friend's birthday party. I was delighted with our room which was extremely comfortable with a sea view. The service was excellent and the hotel full of old-style charm. The dinner provided for the party was so good - not easy to provide hot food for a very large number of people - and if one wanted a cooked breakfast the following morning, it was beautifully cooked to order (always more successful than a buffet!) with lovely coffee!

My wife and I stayed two nights a week ago.
We enjoyed our stay very much.
The hotel has a lot of charm and character,a lovely conservatory and garden with several nice seating areas to have a drink or food.
The staff were helpfull and friendly, although the middle aged gentleman behind the bar was very aloof and not very talkative.
The food in the restaurant was very good as was. the breakfast.
Our only gripe was the bathroom was boiling hot constantly which also made the room very warm which was not good on a weekend where the weather was very hot.
There were no fan in the room and we were only told the Hotel could supply one was when we checked out,
The fan should already be in the room.
That aside a very nice Hotel

The Hydro Hotel has a genteel, old world charm combined with modern facilities. Staff are friendly and professional. Situated near the peaceful Holywell area, with easy access to the coastal path and promenade, many of the rooms have sea views. The restaurant had two vegetarian choices in their menu of the day. On a sunny day you can admire the views from the garden or swim in the small, secluded pool. If it's raining there are numerous lounge areas divided by gothic arches. Jigsaws, games and cocktails available! The hotel is also a popular venue with locals.

Mine was a late booking for a short break to somewhere previously recommended by friends and family. For the money paid I couldn't fault it. Everywhere was very clean and staff friendly and attentive. The room was very comfortable with everything I expected (but often haven't seen in other places, like sufficient tea and milk - always annoying and always need to ask for more!), and the breakfast very presented in roomy surroundings. Yes, I could be picky - we all could in any establishment - but if I base this on 'value for money' then I'd challenge anyone to find better in Eastbourne. It was also a great location and easy parking - what more could one want.

My wife and I stopped over on a Sunday after my cousin's 80th Birthday lunch. The lunch was very good and the service faultless. Guests at the lunch were able to use the outdoor swimming pool and wander around the well-kept gardens. We checked in after the lunch and were delighted to be told that we had been upgraded to a sea-view room. What a view it was looking out over the recently refurbished gardens, out to sea and right along to Beachy Head. The room was large with all the trimmings you would expect of a 4 star hotel, and the bathroom looked brand new and spotless. Breakfast was top grade with everything you could think of and cooked food was served piping hot at your table. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We understand that the hotel has recently spent a great deal in upgrading all the facilities and it certainly showed. Nevertheless, the character dating back to 1895 remains - quite a wow factor when you first walk in. Parking is free and easy on the side streets, but the hotel does have its own car park which we didn't need. We will certainly stay there again.

Stayed at the Hydro Hotel in Eastbourne for one evening with dinner and breakfast and we have nothing but praise for what was a lovely relaxing stay.
A traditional charming hotel with plenty of character.
The room was spotlessly clean with lots of lovely free amenities that were plentiful. A great choice of teas and coffees, with bottled water in the fridge which was complimentary and a lovely touch. Also good quality shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion available in the clean spacious bathroom. The shower was the perfect pressure for a good shower in the morning.
The bed was huge and there was every thing in the room that you could possibly need. Other amenities included an iron and ironing board, hair dryer, TV, fridge, plenty of hangers in the wardrobe and the icing on the cake were the magnificent sea views.
The evening meal in the crystal restaurant was lovely, with attentive staff who explained the menu and continued throughout to ensure we were enjoying our meal with nothing being to much trouble. I could see and observed that this was also so with the surrounding tables.
The bar staff were friendly and attentive and the patio area outside with its amazing views over the well manicured gardens and sea, was the perfect place to relax and have a drink. We walked around to the outside pool which again was set in a clean relaxing environment.
Checking in and out of the hotel and booking a table for the restaurant at reception was hassle free and once again the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Overall a very pleasant experience with very friendly staff who took time out to make you feel welcome and only enhanced the experience. Thank you!

Every visit has been thoroughly enjoyable. This beautiful hotel is in a great position, within walking distance of the shops and restaurants but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. Dinner was delicious with a choice of beautifully presented courses and a lovely breakfast with a good choice of items is included, as well as free wifi and parking.

We recently celebrated our wedding with a meal in the Orangery at the Hydro. From our initial discussion about our requirements, we knew we were in good hands and so it proved to be. Everything was set up in the way we required and the staff had the trick of being efficient, friendly and attentive while not interfering with the flow of the proceedings. Their friendliness and attentiveness were commented upon by many of the guests. The Orangery is perfect for smaller scale meals - we were 16 in number- and, with its glass roof, it is beautifully light and airy. The proceedings were unhurried and drew favourable comments from all concerned. Our thanks to all.

Old fashioned hotel - clearly aimed at the "silver" generation - quiet, clean and quirky-Only had a luncheon here where staff very polite & attentive, although restaurant pretty empty for some reason, perhaps being a Monday?- Meal was average, well presented, but lacking quantity & some imagination.

We stayed at The Hydro hotel this weekend for a second visit. Our bedroom overlooked the sea and was well furnished with everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean and we love the fluffy large white bath towels. We enjoyed a Sussex tea, served in the conservatory and were shown to a table by the window overlooking the sea and gardens.
The restaurant staff at breakfast recognised us from our previous stay and made us feel very welcome. The food itself was excellent with good choices. We would recommend this hotel without question.

We spent a two night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary and found the Hydro to be an excellent choice. Our room was perfect with an amazing view of the sea and gardens. The first was first class and the service was excellent. We would definitely visit again.

We visited the Hydro for lunch to celebrate an 80th birthday. The entrance belies the wonderful lobby with side lounges. We ate in the Crystal restaurant which was marvellous. The staff were attentive without being obsequious, the chef paid attention to every dish and the waiting staff served unobtrusively. Excellent value for money, I would have paid double if we had not been in a hotel restaurant. Highly commended

We arrived at the Hydro Hotel after a long day of driving, after arriving to a nice smiling face at the counter we were given a complimentary upgrade to a sea view. The food is good, bedrooms are well kept and the general place has a positive feel.
Definitely would recommend.

This was our second visit to this traditional Hotel and we were not disappointed. Comfortable Rooms, mine was next to the lift, had a Sea View and a walk in shower perfect for my needs . The food was excellent and served in a relaxed but efficient way . It was nice to see that most of the staff were the same team we had met in 2017.

Chose this hotel as it was closest to the south downs way and beachy head. Room was spotlessly clean. Good breakfast. We ate in the conservatory -
good ambience and nice view out to sea. We ordered steaks which were excellent. This is a traditional hotel, a good but pleasant walk into town. Would recommend.

I stayed overnight on a Saturday at this hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient. Lovely conservatory, nice grounds so close to the sea. The hotel is slightly dated but clean and comfy. We really enjoyed our brief visit.

My husband arranged this for my 65th birthday. There were 7 in our party. The hotel is nice enough, although our room was tiny for a double. The real problem came with dinner, which was extremely disappointing. Over-cooked, tasteless vegetables; style over substance - and being 7 (2 of which are vegetarians) we tried a range of different dishes - all were disappointing. Sadly, the breakfast proved to be another bitter disappointment. Our waiter appeared to be in a bad mood; it took 45 minutes for cooked breakfast to arrive and 5 out of 7 of the orders were wrong. Such a shame. We shall not be going there again.

We stayed just one night to attend a black tie dinner. The room was delightful, clean comfortable, and warm, with excellent views of the bay. Hotel staff were attentive and competent contributing greatly to the overall atmosphere of efficiency and professionalism. The three course dinner was superb and served faultlessly. One of the very best hotels we have ever stayed in. We have booked again for two nights in August.
