Large family event. Location, decor, food all absolutely top notch. The service was prompt and friendly. All very well done. My one concern was arguably a lack of initiative from the staff towards the end when asked help cut and serve the cske. Admittedly it was a young lad I asked but it took the restaurant manager to come and do it for us. Otherwise faultless and I'd realistically ask for nothing more.

We enjoyed last year's event so much that 10 of us decided to go this year on 15th December. What a great decision that was!
Chris Anderson was again superb with his singing and DJ-ing skills. The food was excellent, with a good choice on the night. The staff were to a normal high standard. The other revellers were good fun too with plenty of people joining in with the singing and dancing.
This was a great way to start the festive season, and we're already looking forward to next year's event.

We had the pleasure of spending three nights at this delightful hotel in the Sussex Suite over Christmas, following our local wedding on Christmas Eve. We arrived to find a thoughtful card and bottle of bubbly, which was the start of being thoroughly spoilt until we left this morning. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was faultless and plentiful, to the point were I couldn't manage a dessert on two occasions as I was so satisfied. The Hotel itself is exceptionally clean and well presented, classic but not over-imposing and we felt very comfortable whether smart casual for lunch or evening dress for dinner. It was a memorable Christmas for us, made perfect by our stay at the Eastbourne Hydro. We will definitely be back for another Christmas. Thank you to all the staff and Management.........Outstanding.

I was looking for a place to spend my 50th birthday where I could take my 2 terriers along. The Hydro hotel in Eastbourne turned out to be the perfect choice. My husband and I had a sea view and it was absolutely beautiful. We had a second room for our daughters. Not a sea view but still pleasant. The hotel feels like home. The lounge which allows dogs is a comfortable and elegant room with classic decor and paintings. When we sat there, a waiter brought bowls of water for the dogs. We were worried about taking one of our dogs to a hotel as she barks at unknown people and dogs but the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. On my birthday we left the dogs in the room to try and have dinner in the restaurant. When the staff member came to tell us one of the dogs was barking, they were so helpful, even offering to keep her behind the desk and sending my daughter's dinner up to the room, so she could stay with the dogs. The dinner we had was elegantly served, creative and tasty. We had 3 vegetarian options and 3 fish options which was good as none of us eat meat. The afternoon tea is one of the hotels specialities. I had the Sussex cream tea, which was excellent. As it was nearly Christmas, there were bowls of chocolates and nuts around for people to help themselves. The breakfast was really nice, the staff friendly and attentive and the atmosphere relaxed and homely. Finally, the hotel,is in a lovely calm and peaceful area and a short stroll along the prom to Eastbourne pier. With a lovely garden and even a small pool, the Hydro is a great place for a peaceful break.

I've stayed at the Hydro 3 times with the special offers and the service, food and ambience was really lovely and friendly. Last time Dec 2016 we had a beautiful room over looking the sea which I was not expecting as we had gone to the hotel with one of the amazing travelzoo offers but we made to feel like full paying guests. Great team Hydro well done

Although the hotel parking is limited there is easy parking on the road. The hotel is to a high standard, clean and well kept. our room had a side sea view and had all we needed. Bathroom facilities heating etc were all very good. The staff called us twice to see if the room was ok etc. Restaurant meal was good and the staff attentive, A very good breakfast again with attentive staff. We didn't use the spa as were there with a group for a party. A nice hotel we encountered no issues hence the rating.

Excellent hotel and the service offered was brilliant, the receptionist went above and beyond her role and offered to drive us to Christmas destination as unable to secure Taxi at this time.

Breakfast was really nice welcoming in the morning

Stayed at the Hydro for a winter short break and couldn't have found a more relaxing hotel in a beautiful setting. It was spacious, clean and nicely decorated and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a lovely sea view with an equally lovely bed. We really hope to return in the warmer weather to enjoy some of the hotel's other facilities. Apart from breakfast we did not use the restaurant, but the breakfast choices were plentiful and nicely presented.

The Hydro Hotel was incorporated in 1895 and was formerly a hydropathic establishment. It is situated 120 feet above sea-level and has views of the English Channel and Beachy Head. The public areas seem to retain a lot of the original grand features. There are lovely gardens and a small pool, although in November when we went, it wasn't the best time to appreciate them.

The hotel is situated about a mile from the town centre and this can be reached on foot by taking the switch-back paths down to sea level and then the promenade to the pier and the town. A walk in the opposite direction can take you to Beachy Head if you are fit and can cope with the steep climb. We cheated and took the car, as we aimed to walk from the head to Birling Gap, about 2 1/2 miles.

Our room was small, but adequate and well appointed, and we were lucky that we had a full sea-view. The bathroom was the tiniest I had ever experienced. Cats need have no worries in there! Managed to burn my nether regions on the towel rail when drying my feet on the first morning!!

The dining experience was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. Although the hot breakfast choice was rather limited.

All the staff were friendly and anxious to please.

An excellent hotel, and I would recommend it highly. Do watch out for that towel rail though!

Only there from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, but so easy going felt like we had been there longer.

Lovely room with a sea view- pure delight laying in bed with a cup of tea watching the sun come up looking at the sea.

All in all we had a lovely time.

We stayed in a twin room booked through travel zoo and the night included afternoon cream tea and full English breakfast the next morning. The room was clean, well equipped, comfortable, warm and the view of the sea and gardens was beautiful. The staff were attentive, helpful, friendly and humorous. The hotel itself is architecturally lovely and the Christmas decorations and trees made for a really festive feel. Breakfast was a great selection of cereals, pastries and cold meats or a cooked full English. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed three nights for an exceptional reasonable rate, the hotel has lovely views over the sea and cliffs. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The cleaning , towels and bed comfort was top class. Lastly the cleanliness was some of the best if not the best we have experienced when staying in a hotel. The staff here highly motivated to make you stay perfect and a credit to the hotel. Would recommend to anyone going to stay in Eastbourne.

I friend held a surprised birthday party for his wife at the hotel on a Sunday, so we stayed for the weekend for one night and had dinner there as well. Our room was on the small side but was well appointed and had superb views out to sea.
The hotel has a long history and is a kind of Victorian Moden feel about it. If you are looking for a weekend stay this hotel would be very suitable.

Very reasonable for the quality. Lovely clean, old fashioned quality and good service. Thank you.

Although very quiet (probably due to the time of year), the hotel and staff were great. Thank you very much.

The Hydro has the advantage that the early architects thought big so that it has a wonderful feeling of space throughout. Bedrooms are big enough to be converted to the required en suite and yet remain a comfortable size. Effort seems to have been made throughout the hotel to combine modern needs with a wonderful traditional ambience. We liked everything about the décor and furnishings/
It was particularly pleasurable on arrival to see the many Christmas tress being decorated for Christmas.

Staff were many - you didn't have to search for one and they looked and acted professionally and courteously.

The food too was excellent. The main menu was very tempting but we chose to have alight meal in the evening. Breakfast was very good with some home made bread as an alternative to toast. Very welcome.

We have stayed in about four UK hotels this year, and, although I admit that Hydro was priced higher (except that we took advantage of an offer which made it excellent value for money), it was by far the best experience.

I needed a repair which was dealt with at once and my two comments were noted and responded to before I arrived home.

This hotel obviously takes pride in being excellent and we will certainly try to visit again.

The purpose of my stay was a treat for my mother's 90th birthday.
We stayed for just one night, on arrival we had cream tea, we did not eat in the restaurant in the evening but we did have breakfast the next morning which was very nice, and plentiful.
The hotel is lovely, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable with great views, the staff were attentive most of the time.

Delighted to return. We were part of a reunion weekend . The standard is as always high, exceptionally clean and delicious food . One of a few hotels that can cope with high standards in function catering and private keeping the standard high.
We had a glorious sea view room on a stormy weekend .
Staff as always helpful ,kind and happy in there work.
Bedrooms well appointed . Breakfast in ones room does include cooked breakfast ,such a treat .
Our friends were arriving on Monday and were delighted to find they had an upgrade.

I wish to return if only for the very smart afternoon tea now served looked divine.

Message to management although you are dog friendly perhaps ask guests not to let there dogs exercise and foul on your beautiful grass lawn.
1 it will soon get ruined 2 not a pleasant sight from ones room early in a morning .

I arrived for a for a short seasonal break and on a cold November Sunday afternoon and was delighted by the warm and friendly welcome!

I was very pleased to be given a voucher for a complimentary pot of tea and a crumpet in the lounge and although the lounges were very busy, I was happy to wait and enjoy the ambience of the hotel.

Having stayed at the hotel many times I noticed that the lighting had been improved since my last visit in March and that there was new furniture in the lounges.

My room was very bright and spacious with a good selection of drink sachets and biscuits and the towels were changed daily. I was touched by the postcard with a note welcoming me back and a stick of rock, something I had not received previously.

There seemed a wider choice of food at dinner and Breakfast and the food was always hot and served quickly with the staff very helpful and friendly.

I look forward to staying again in the Spring.
