The Hydro has been welcoming guests for over 125 years. Despite its old style appearance our bedroom was bright and modern and appeared to have been recently refurbished. There was a large airy conservatory overlooking the large garden where refreshments were available all day. The dining room benefitted from a high ceiling and large windows. Food was excellent and the staff most attentive.

Visited soon after lockdown was eased. Good Covid measures in place. Very good lunch menu with plenty of variety and reasonably priced. The Conservatory gave us excellent views but booking is recommended.

Great place to stay. The hotel rooms are spotless, good showers and bathroom facilities, a TV, wardrobe and 3 chairs. Windows open wide easily, good quality blinds for Windows. Staff are very friendly and kind. Breakfast and evening meals have been excellent, and lunches and afternoon tea are also served. Has 2 lifts as well as stairs for rooms upstairs. The rooms are nice and warm too. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the town centre. Highly recommended all round !

Probably the worst kept secret of all time, but the food delivery from the hotel is superb. From the moment you pick up the phone and find there is a real person to the delivery of the food it's superb. I ordered cream teas for my family and it was a wonderful surprise superbly executed. Thank you Hydro

Turning out things on a cold wet January day I came across my bill for a weekend stay September 27th. We had requested a particular room which we were able to have. It was lovely and spacious and well appointed but I expect it might be hot in summer. The staff were helpful especially in the restaurant and the food was fab, some of the best dinners Ive had for a very long time. The only downside was the horrible cake included with tea but that is a minor quibble. Happy days indeed. I do hope the hotel and staff come out of this horrible time so we can return for another lovely break.

We will be never be able to properly express our gratitude to Johnathan , Francois and Julian for such a seamless and responsive service for our wedding reception and Honeymoon weekend. Covid 19 dynamics was a potential challenge but the hotel were excellent in steering us through to a perfect day and were reassuring at every stage . In addition , the Hydro proved to be great value for money !!!

Had Christmas lunch with my mum in the Crystal Restaurant at the Hydro Hotel today (Friday 11th December). Sadly the restaurant was quiet due to Tier 2 lockdown, but it was very nicely decorated, the service was really great as usual and the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

Having booked a wine tasting visit to Kent for the Friday and having been to the Hydro before for afternoon tea and lunches I decided as a surprise for my wife to book the hotel. Initially I did it for one night (Friday) as a break on our way back from the wine tasting. However, the price for D,B&B was so good that a week before our trip I increased our stay to cover the Saturday as well.
A great decision on my part!!
Having spent a significant part of my working life in hotels this one is in the top section. Certainly it is great value for money with an old fashion sense of how guest should be treated. The staff are excellent and make you feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door after having your temperature check (Covid).
Our room was well appointed and very comfortable as was the Restaurant which under the current circumstances is airy and relaxing. The dinner menu is extensive and the food extremely well presented. Breakfast is also a banquet for the Hungry riser after a good nights sleep.
The staff within the whole hotel complex are attentive without being intrusive and are very friendly, even though the requirement for face protection by the staff does unfortunately takes some of their personal touch away.
We are so glad we managed to get our visit in before "lock down" this week but will be looking forward to spending another couple of days at this lovely hotel next year.

We could not have been looked after better. Comfortable rooms and helpful staff. We always know the food will be good with plenty of choice and were not disappointed. Hannah is so efficient and helpful. I think of her as as friend. I am sad that the hotel will have more time in lockdown but know that you will bounce back for us to visit many times more.

Visited their massage therapy. Saw Frank. Absolutely excellent, highly recommend him. Went as I had pain in back, neck, shoulders and was suffering with migraines. Sorted my pain out. He was very respectful. Note: He doesn't have a chaperone so if you are nervous about seeing him on your own, take someone with you. There is no need to be nervous, Frank is lovely.

Just had lunch at the Hydro Eastbourne in strange times. Horrible wet and windy day. Sitting in the conservatory and no chance of the lovely sea view due to the weather. However thanks to the great service and even though the staff were wearing masks we could sense their smiles. By the way fantastic food as well. All together excellent. Thank you.

Took a 90 year old aunt for lunch.
First time she's been out since our last visit in March.
Shown to our table by male.staff member.
No point in him wearing a mask as it was not covering his nose and drooped at his mouth.
When I mentioned this he was very defensive. If he has a medical condition and unable.to wear one then he should wear a badge. Trying to protect my aunt who wanted to go out.
