The hotel has a lovely art deco entrance and reception area. Impressive stairs lead through beautiful arches to an open lounge area from which leads off the Drawing Room, the Library, the Conservatory and other function rooms and restaurants. My visit was to discuss options for an event and despite being focused on the hotel guests and a wedding, the staff were attentive and helpful.
There are lovely views across the English Channel and a small car park with electric car charging facilities.

The Hydro Hotel is great for a get away and break, it is a fantastic hotel, the gardens are fab. We used the swimming pool which is heated and lovely. The staff are some of the best we have had in a hotel. Food is excellent. Would recommend the Hydro Hotel for a lovely stay.

The Hydro was recommended to us by a friend who often visited with her mother. After our first stay at the Hydro we were hooked. The gardens are beautiful, the lounges are very traditional and comfortable, the service is first rate and the food is freshly prepared and delicious. We love the comfort of the bedrooms particularly the beautiful crisp bed linen. A number of rooms have great sea views and overall the hotel is a haven of peace with amenities such as the heated swimming pool, croquet on the lawn, multiple areas in the garden to sit and enjoy a drink and admire the view. We are so grateful to our friend for recommending the hydro to us.

The reason I have given four instead of five stars is due to the staff being lovely, helpful and super hard working.
The Food being gorgeous and the only negative I would have is the lack of vegetarian and vegan wines available by the glass and not by the bottle which was expensive! have also never stayed in one of the rooms so no comment there. The view is amazing no matter the weather!
Would recommend to anyone đź’–

This is a very well-appointed hotel with enthusiastic and very capable staff. Service was impressive throughout. Food was excellent. The grounds are very well maintained and it is a reasonable walk into the town (I have had Parkinson's for a couple of years and it was okay for me, although it is a little way up a hill).

Lunch today in the Conservatory Restaurant. Great food, well presented Young serving staff require training and direction. Before delivering dessert menus, they first need to clear the table laden with empty plates. Good to see students with jobs, now Hydro help to train them to provide a high standard of table service.

Friends recommended the Hydro and we were not disappointed either. We stayed two nights and had the dinner, bed and breakfast inclusive deal with a sea view room which was excellent value. Thoroughly efficient, professional and enthusiastic staff at all levels of responsibility. Catering was good and wines by the glass not over priced. The cheese platter at dinner was something else! All very tasty. We included a visit to the John Nash Exhibition at the Towner Gallery but otherwise stayed put; reading, sketching, talking to other guests and generally enjoying the fabulous grounds and relaxing. A return visit is planned for later in the year. If I have a grumble it is that the circulation corridors on the first floor need cheering up. Some colour, more pictures even some artificial flower displays would help too.

We spent a couple of days here celebrating my wife’s birthday. We were informed that the car park may be full so were happy to park in the street just yards from the entrance. All the staff were friendly, professional and keen to help. I was happy to deal with our luggage, but noticed other guests struggling with no offer of help.
Our room was perfect with stunning views of the coast and Beachy Head.
The food was good. Service was excellent in the restaurant and especially in the bar.
The pool is a wonderful bonus. Towels are readily available. Seating excellent. There can be no better way to start the day

My partner and I dined here on Saturday night. We treated ourselves to the three-course menu which provided plenty of choice in each course, even adding the cheese platter to make a fourth! The staff were attentive and the restaurant well laid out to comply with current restrictions. The food was beautifully presented and delicately seasoned so as not to overwhelm the flavour of the high quality ingredients. There was live background music from a talented pianist which added to the evening but was never intrusive. To finish we took coffee in the lounge. In all, a delightful evening and a very fair price.

This is the third time this year I have stayed at the Hydro - all under various covid restrictions - and the service from all staff has been uniformly excellent. Although rooms are not serviced at the moment if you stay for less than 4 nights, requests for replacement towels/tea/coffe/shampoo etc arrive very speedily.

Table service in both the conservatory and main dining room at breakfast and dinner was very quick, efficient and very polite/obliging even with some of my more awkward dietary requests!

The pool was open - and really lovely to swim in a pool that is larger and deeper than the usual waist depth you find in most hotels. Staff very happy to deliver food/drink to the poolside too.

The hotel may be a little way out of the centre of Eastbourne - and the free car park not over huge - but there is plenty of free street parking all around the hotel and I have never found this to be a problem, even when the hotel was full as it way this weekend.

Regrettably 3 of 5 meals spoilt due to undercooked steak. Staff apologised and offered replacement but was too late by then. A discount was made which was much appreciated. It is a lovely restaurant with friendly staff and this was an unusual occurrence

We got married here on the 5th of June and we had such an incredible weekend!

Weddings at the Hydro: absolutely amazing venue! Views over the sea and the outdoor lawns and gardens make you feel like you’re having a destination wedding. Our guests LOVED it. They said it was the best wedding food they had ever had and the service was impeccable. Thanks to Jonathan, Angie, Julie, Francois, Julian & the whole team who from day 1 of planning made the process seamless and stress free. The other thing we liked about getting married here was that it isn’t solely a wedding venue. We didn’t feel like we were part of something commercial. It felt so much more personal.

The Stay: we stayed in the Downlands Suite which has the most stunning views. All our guests with sea views had brilliant views too. We were so well looked after and felt very special. The hotel is historic and has a great Art Deco feel. We dined in the restaurant on the Friday evening and the meal was delicious, such a nice atmosphere with a pianist too. The outdoor pool is a nice bonus in the summer.

All in all a lovely elegant hotel but the thing that really makes it is the staff and their professionalism and friendly manner. Thank you to everyone at the Hydro who really made our wedding dreams come true!!
