We really felt we needed a short break after the lockdown for so long. I chose the Hydro because I had been there before and it felt like home. We had a wonderful overnight stay the staff were friendly and happy and we felt so safe. The grounds are looking magnificent and so relaxing. A definite treat.

The decor in the main rooms is very nice but is dated in the guest rooms. Don't book a classic room unless you are on your own. Book a sea view if you are used to more space. The service is excellent,the food lovely and the gardens are a nice place to relax in the sun. The bar prices are the most I have ever paid in the UK but overall a pleasant place to stay.

We decided to have a trip to the seaside as the weather forecast was excellent & chose The Hydro because we have stayed there couple of times previously & it’s not too far to travel. We had an excellent room with a picture window and a clear view of the hotel garden & sea. We had a light lunch in the garden & were warned by the staff to be wary of the pigeons - I echo that, they are persistent & fearless ! Evening meal could not be faulted nor could the wine list. Service was slower than usual but this we believe was due to fewer staff being on duty. Not an issue in the evening but if you’re catching a train in the morning allow extra time for service at breakfast. The staff were all helpful & cheerful, always a plus. Our only complaint - we were only able to stay for one night !

We have stayed in the Hydro hotel many times in recent years. This latest stay was two nights in the suite the week after the hotel reopened. Our stay was wonderful. The room was great and the staff very helpful. We had two superb dinners and breakfast was lovely. Everyone really makes an effort to make the stay the best ever. Great gardens and hoping the pool is open again next time. So great to have the Hydro back open and good luck to everyone trying to make things possible in these difficult times.

After being let down by another hotel in the town, we booked an afternoon tea here for my mum’s 70th birthday. From the very outset, the staff were friendly and professional and we are all so glad that the previous booking was cancelled. The afternoon tea was exceptional, and even with the post-lockdown changes, it all felt completely normal. We finished with a drink in the beautiful garden and we can not recommend this place for afternoon tea enough.

Not up to par and a bit of a let down for the price. Pool was out of action which was disappointing as it was very sunny. On the upside the room was very clean but a bit pokey. Breakfast was a let down as do not cater for vegans - no veggie sausages and the mushrooms cooked in butter. Decor needs updating. Will not be returning

Poor sleep. Not helped by fire alarm. I hope smoker concerned received a massive fine and paid for fire service. Poor communication during the alarm. No explanations of apologies.
Disappointing stay. We have used the hydra on so many occasions for big family gatherings and I have never been disappointed before.

Stayed at the Hydro Hotel for a few days.
I found most of the staff to be friendly and helpful. When I am saying that I am of course including all the boys and girls that we do not see without whom the Hotel would not run so smoothly. The extractor fan in the bathroom was so loud it was deafening.
I mainly ate in the Conservatory and the food was delicious.
Special mention should be made for Leonardo who was brilliant. Nothing seemed to much trouble for him. Message to management, look after him, he is good.
There is also an outdoor pool which we could not use because of the Covid restrictions.
I am not sure if I will be staying at the Hydro Hotel again because when I usually stay in Eastbourne I have to leave at 4:45 Monday morning and the Hotel is too far from the station for me.

We stayed for two nights to celebrate the wife’s birthday Covid restrictions were in place but we still had a great stay in this wonderful hotel the staff are a credit to the management we are going back in September and looking forward to our third visit of the year

Nice hotel. Afternoon tea was delicious from the nice finger sandwiches to the warm scone and clotted cream, yum, yum. Room a little basic none of the refinements like tissues (!) Or a bottle of water. Room had bit of a sewage smell (22x) could be end of run??? Reception closed when I got back at 10.15 though a member of staff did pop her head out and help me. Tried to check in around an hour early but wasn't possible. Then they weren't able to get my bottle of wine that was to be there on my arrival out of my room so at least I could enjoy that. One main complaint, the pool was open which was lovely but the hotel need to consider a better way of making sure the adult guests aren't exasperated by the noise of the kids using the pool and not being able to use the pool as there are already too many people (all kids) in it and who stay in preventing others using it.

Great setting. Friendly staff make you feel very welcome and comfortable. Great position for Beachey Head and the town is only a few minutes walk away. Car park at rear. Love it.

Thank You all so much for the wonderful afternoon tea that was delivered Saturday afternoon to my parents bungalow. My Mother enjoyed an amazing birthday, she is shielding so has not been off their premises for 12 weeks. She was excited that you were providing her Afternoon tea and from the cheery delivery guy, to her expression as she snuffled through the carrier bags and then the containers - she enjoyed every moment. The best china came out and Tea was served in the sun room and garden... no sea view but she had her family there.
I thoroughly recommend The Hydro Hotel's take away food service during these times and we look forward to visiting when you can safely re-open :-)

My wife and I ordered a meal, yesterday from the excellent take a way service now offered by the hotel.
This was excellent, it arrived nice and hot and was delicious and at the time requested. Thank you hotel team for making our wedding anniversary that little bit special. We look forward to visiting you again when circumstances return to normal.

Now offers a meal take away and delivery service. The delivery service works very well -5 mile radius. Prompt and courteous. The food is excellent value and quality. The menu is varied, and typical good hotel restaurant standard. Will be using this service on a regular basis while lock down remains.

What an oasis of calm and luxury the Hydro Hotel is!
I used to come for regular family Sunday lunches as a child. So lovely to finally come back and find nothing has changed, still as charming and comfortable as I had remembered and the service from the very friendly, cheerful and helpful staff was outstanding. From housekeeping to restaurant, from reception to the conservatory and bar, nothing was ever too much trouble.
The food was consistently amazing! From breakfast to afternoon tea, from mid morning coffee to dinner in the Crystal restaurant. (One night our meal was accompanied by a pianist at a grand piano in the restaurant) And always such a deliciously mouthwatering choice.
My room was beautiful with every comfort, including a fridge and very spacious and fully equipped bathroom.
I enjoyed my stay at the Hydro, catching up with my Aunt and Mother, it was so easy to really spend quality time together. Who could have known, that would be the last I properly saw of them for the foreseeable. I feel very grateful for us to have had that happy time together.
Thank you The Hydro hotel and I very much look forward to another stay. I highly recommend it to all!

This hotel is my favorite hotel to visit. The food is excellent, all the staff are genuinely polite and helpful and the ambience of the hotel makes it ideal for relaxing in an ideal setting, The hotel is sited next to the sea and adds to the relaxation to hear the waves. There are many areas within the hotel torest, read a bookk or sip wine. I love it and cant wait to visit again.

Everything about this hotel is outstanding. Once you enter it is like stepping back in time. The rooms are lovely though some need updating our looked over the garden which has now been re-landscaped. The breakfast was delicious and all the staff were exceptionally polite. It is situated on a hill about 3 minutes walk from the seafront. It is about 20 mins walk from the town but you can catch a bus if walking parents difficulties. A thoughly enjoyable stay and would definitely go again.

During these testing times this lovely Hotel and splendid staff has instigated a take away service from their fine menu of hot meals and snacks .
We enjoyed their Confit of duck in an orange and grand marnier sauce which lightened the mood considerably in this isolating house .
