Excellent restaurant, excellent food, excellent staff! Could not fault this place. We ate early (6pm) but it soon filled up and by 7pm was virtually full and it was easy to see why. We stayed in Eastbourne for 5 days and this was clearly one of the best meals we had all week. Totally recommended.

Very friendly staff, great atmosphere. Comprehensive menu and delicious food, aubergine bake, mussels for starter and salmon and king prawn risotto were excellent- highly recommend!

What can I say, we always visit this restaurant when in Eastbourne. Had an amazing family meal. Great food, they know what they are doing. Have the sardines if you are a fan. Thank you very much, keep up the good work.

Looking for a late lunch venue whilst in Eastbourne to see Jane McDonald ( who was stunning!)
Found this restaurant ... oh my... its fabulous! All the staff as far I could tell, are Italian.. friendly, attentive without being pushy... just the right amount of time between courses, and the food.... is out of this world... beautifully cooked & presented.. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.. go and you will not be disappointed... and its so reasonably priced... It is worth the 1.5hr journey from my home just for lunch.

Chose La Locanda for a birthday celebration and so glad we did. From the very start with bread and olives on the table to each of our dishes, it was sublime. We all tasted each others food and declared every dish was delicious. Certainly 5 star food. The set menu offered good variety at a very reasonable price but there was lots more on the a la cart menu. We stuck to the set menu and were absolutely delighted. A must try.

Came here for our wedding anniversary and it was suitably special. The food is superb, the atmosphere (because of its popularity) lively, service excellent. I had scallops followed by the veal and mushrooms. Husband had the Parma ham with melon followed by his favourite, lasagne. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service attentive but unobtrusive. A real find. The people queuing outside as we left included a lit if regulars well aware it was worth the wait.

We haven't eaten here before, but decided to try it out for lunch today and we weren't disappointed. We were particularily impressed by the wide choice of fish dishes available. My husband had lemon sole, which he said was delicious and I had a bowl of mussels, very good mussels but the liquor they were cooked in was rather too salty for my taste. My husband then had sorbet and I had the cheese board, both really good. Such good quality ingredients in all the dishes we chose and very efficient and pleasant service. We will eat here again.

What can I say...what a find on our weekend in Eastbourne...got a vibe from the outside and the fact it was full up at lunchtime...booked for the evening....complimentary breads and olives on table. Great choice including for me as a vegetarian. Tiramisu to die for. Complimentary lemon cello was define. Great atmosphere. Staff amazing...it all flowed so effortlessly even though completely full.

Tursday 3rd August: A most enjoyable experience. Pleasant service from start to finish. Immediately lowered air con on request. Fine wine, excellent starters and main course. Too full for desert but complementary liqueurs were well received. Had to wait rather too long for the taxi at the end but that's not the restaurant's fault. Recommended. Will return.

Great atmosphere and welcoming staff (special mention -Barbara). Varied menu -had Vitello Milanese -great quality, my wife had sea bass - done to perfection. I liked the real table cloths and proper napkins , also correct cutlery, wine cooler ,bread and olives cover. Good wine list-went for Trebbiano for the Italian experience and strong coffee with complimentary brandy afterwards. Very enjoyable. Went back the next night for authentic Spaghetti Vongole and Chicken with marsala sauce. Could not be faulted.A step up from usual holiday fare.

We went there on Saturday 31/07/21, my wife daughter and I. It's litteraly the first time we ever leave a review, and we'd very much like to suggest anyone passing nearby to give it at try ! Great menu, service, food, cleanliness... we asked a waiter if there was any chance we could order something that was not offered on the menu, he was happy to suggest this to the chef ("We have a kitchen, we have a chef, if you want something different, we'll try and get it for you") who in return was happy to accomodate, not only was it really good, but very decently priced too. Thanks for the super experience !

My Fiance took me to this restaurant yesterday for my birthday. My fiance had a starter but I was very happy to have the bread and olives on the table. Just as our main meal arrived (and it looked delicious) I was taken unwell and felt very faint. A wonderful member of staff rushed to my aid and helped me through a bad fainting session. All I can say is many, many thanks to Barbara. She was amazing! Unfortunately I wasn't well enough to continue with our meal but we will return and just wanted to share our gratitude towards the staff for their care and understanding.
