Looking for a lighter dinner visited this Italian restaurant a short distance from our hotel. From their set 2 course menu for £17.95 per head my wife and I both had the very good melon and Parma Ham. My wife followed this with lambs liver and crispy bacon, whilst I had veal in a cream and mushroom sauce, served together with a selection of vegetables, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The meal was excellent, well cooked and nicely presented and at a very reasonable price. A full a la carte menu is available if required. Highly recommended.

My Dad frequents this place and knowing my love of Italian food was eager to take us there. It was Bank holiday lunchtime, we hadn't booked but that wasn't a problem to the friendly staff although the restaurant looked quite busy.
We sat down and had water and the freshest , most delicious breads brought over and a bowl of olives whilst we studied the menu. Dad had told me that the seafood here was to die for so I went for the trio of fish (more eloquently described on their menu!), swordfish, salmon and sea bass all cooked impeccably with an accompaniment of well cooked vegetables. My partner had sea breem from the specials menu and was silent for the next fiftenn minutes whilst he devoured it! Dad tried to persuade us to have desserts but we settled for various coffees with which we were offered a complimentary liqueur.....burning sambuca for me!!Gorgeous food, friendly staff, reasonable prices and they knock your parking fee off the bill.....what more could you ask of a restaurant? Oh and Lucca the owner came over to say hello and asked had we enjoyed when we were leaving......superb!

We took a chance and went in here for our tea. We hadn't booked and that was fine. They took us to our table and we had a very easy and quick meal. No problems whatsoever with service or the food it was delicious and would definitely visit again when we come back.

Have eaten here on several occasions after trying other so called "Italian restaurants" in Eastbourne, the food is always very good and the staff are a real credit and always make you feel very welcome. Our last visit was on the 19th August and we turned up late for our booking for our party of 6 for a birthday dinner, no fuss made, they came out later with a cake and card for him and sang Happy Birthday. Book a table and try for yourself.

Very efficent and friendly service for a pre-theatre meal on a busy Saturday night. Seafood Risotto was very tasty as was my wife's chicken. Vegetables were perfectly cooked and all was served piping hot. Would thoroughly recommend.

Four of us celebrated our birthdays with a lunch here; it was busy but the staff were attentive and the food very good indeed. It was rather expensive for Eastbourne though...

Had a meal here last Saturday. Could only get a reservation for 9PM, the place was packed. All the staff were great, professional and attentive and they were all Italian which made us feel like there was a little bit of Italy in the restaurant. We ate homemade pasta, and it was really home made, absolutely delicious! I recommend the ravioli with a meat ragu sauce. Lovely, forget the chips when you visit here, eat the italian food! It would be such a shame not to. Would go back again.

My husband and I really love dining at the Locanda so much so that we chose it for our wedding reception five years ago and have continued to dine there regularly since. The whole atmosphere is warm welcoming and friendly without making you feel put upon. The menu is excellent and well varied. Luca, the owner of this and the Pommodoro e Mozzarella, is a supberb chef himself and selects a delicious varied menu regularly and has an extensive not over priced wine list. He even copes with my difficult diet (lactose and gluten free) without any apparent problem. We have dined here with friends, with my lovely late mother in law who loved Sunday lunch here, business colleagues and visitors to the town and we have never ever been disappointed. If you enjoy good cuisine this is the place for you.

We spent a ocuple of days in Eastbourne and did not know the town before. Found this restaurant using Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. We had booked a table which turned out to be essential as the restaurant was very busy on Friday night. Most of our party of 5 ate from the set menu which was very reasonably priced at £17.95 for two course or £19.95 for 3. Food was excellent and the wine also good and reasonably priced.
Would happily recommend and return to this restaurant if we return to Eastbourne.

This is the best Italian I've eaten outside of Italy. Fantastic value for money. We enjoyed the fixed price menu which was great. Would definitely recommend. Service was exceptional.

Yet again we had a lovely meal. All courses were great.I enjoyed the calamari and vitello and hubby had the aubergine parmigiana(said was fab) and seabass.Even managed desserts and a lovely bottle of red...left v v happy!Atmosphere also fantastic, all the team there are always friendly and helpful and the owner always finds time to come round to say hello...nice touch i feel.
Give Locanda a go...i feel its rating should be higher..Enjoy!

Lovely Italian food, well cooked and presented. Staff lovely. The decor and surroundings are a little dated, but go there for the food - and try the liver, which was so delicious.

My husband and I enjoyed another very good meal at this restaurant. Whenever we are in Eastbourne we always have a meal here. The food is very good and the staff are very friendly.
It was very busy and was quite noisy by 9pm but it's great to see the restaurant doing so well in these difficult times.

Great food, excellent wine and efficient service despite the restaurant being jam packed.
Our only minor criticism was that we felt slightly rushed as if they were trying to turn tables round quickly. However, when we asked for them to slow the service down they obliged. They also gave us a complimentary liqueur as we were celebrating a Birthday.Well worth a visit.

Visited this Restaurant on our stay in Eastbourne. Went along originally to book for an evening meal, but the restaurant was full, but decided to stay for lunch instead. Thank goodness we did. The food hear is fantastic and the service is excellent. Beats any Italian restaurant including San Carlos, Birmingham. Will definitely visit this one again!!!

Delicious high quality food and good service. They saved the evening after an awful visit to a trendy italian in Eastbourne which I had to leave in a hurry. La Locanda Del Duca for me now everytime. Yumm!

We didn't book but you really should, we were very lucky to get in, literally the last table. Great waiting staff, fantastic food, the house rose was wonderful and the whole evening was just perfect. complimentary after dinner drink too was a lovely touch. Value for money was outstanding, 3 courses plus wine and bottled water only £63 for 2 of us. This place is a must.

We both had a very nice evening on 29th May 2010 The atmosphere was lively and the place was packed . Service was quick when needed, with a frendly smile, and the food excellent. My fillet stake was "melt in the mouth" stuff and so was my husband's lamb .Even the staff seemed to be enjoying themselves.
The only thing that could have been improved was the oil that the sautee potatoes were cooked in - It should have been changed more often.
Apart from that - Fantastic !!

Like its neighbour this restaurant offers first class Italian food but in a slightly more formal setting and seems to attract a slightly older clientele as a result. Food and service cannot be faulted but Pomodora offers a more lively atmosphere and maybe slightly better value but not much in it. The two establishments basically cover all bases when it comes to Italian dining and are a real asset to Eastbourne!

This restaurant was recommended to us by the B&B Ocklynge Manor and it was an excellent recommendation. Very good food, attentive staff. Very generous portions - perhaps just a little too big. Felt it lack somewhat in atmosphere. However, this was probably due to it being a Sunday night and there were not very many people eating that night. Well worth the visit.
